@@CripplingDuality I have. And really for his age he is a great singer. at nearly 60 his voice has aged much better than axl rose or bon jovi or really most people around his age. usually you see song with "amazing guitar" or a sick keyboard. This song, or Dream Theater in general, have the best instrumentals all around plus a great singer, and I LOVE IT
Mangini is fun, but Portnoy really did bring that special something that will never be replaced. But I guess he could kind of be an ass too... Doesn't take away from his skill though.

i was there...i remember pumpkins on stage 'cause halloween concert! They take masks during metropolis! Love that concert. Btw location isn't Palaeur but Palalottomatica (in the eur zone)
this is the type of song where you hear the recording and you're like "that's to good for them to really be able to play," but then you watch this video
@@TalkNRock I think he's amazing seen them 5 times live. He was amazing on the astonishing and breaking the 4th wall tour. He was amazing on the luna park too. Sounded just like he did live. He's like 60 so people like you think he should be hitting images and words notes.
@DTxOctavariumx Actually its constantly changing during the verses, I recently covered it at college. It's something like three bars of 6/8 and one of 5/8, and repeat.
@Atchim1234 Actually being mathematically ironic all songs from octivarium were recorded in 5/8 including this one. They might break into other time signatures for bits but its primarily 5/8.
Did Mike Portnoy at 1:34 miss to hit snare drum ? If so, I´m so happy, because it happened to me several times at gigs, so then I know that it happens to my idol too. :)
Well this is his baritone guitar that is not his signature. It doesn't have piezos on it like they do. That and he uses a mix of acoustic in the studio too most of the time! That's what I usually hear
This guitar has 29.625 inch long scale and 22 frets, whereas normal guitar, e.g. JP6 has 25.5 inch long scale and 24 frets. With Silhouette Baritone it's like you took the bass guitar body and mounted electronics and strings from electric guitar on that body.
maybe best DT' song... guys, some1 can tell me another metal band to listen? my favourite are : Dream Theater (: , Tool, Meshuggah, Dissection and Bathory! Tnkz a lot
Petrucci's clean sound often seems twangier live than in the studio. Maybe his studio sound doesn't work live, or maybe he doesn't feel like switching...or maybe I'm just imagining it.
After seven years, 4:40 still gives me chills.
Yes, same here xD
Agree, Less notes than the usual solos Petrucci does, but man, lots of emotions coming out.
12 years, still does it.
indeed brother!
After 13 years it give me chills😂❤
The ambient of this song is really cool, especially with the tone of the clean guitar
LOVE this tune, live or studio. Powerful.
Low A tuning can make such awesome things, standard or dropped, it rocks.
I was there. No words.
Dude, James LaBrie is a fantastic singer.
Debatable
@@thehoffmeister3408 it’s really not
Tell this to Paula Abdul.....
@@zaynekvam9404 listen to some untouched live audio.

James is amazing !
Octavarium and Systematic Chaos were the last stellar albums by Dream Theater.
Love it.
And then DT14 (aka D/T, DoT...) came around.
usually you see song with "amazing guitar" or a sick keyboard. This song, or Dream Theater in general, have the best instrumentals all around plus a great singer, and I LOVE IT
Octavarium is one of the greatest prog metal albums of all times
The greatest.
This has to be one of the greatest DT songs of all time, smooth but heavy.
The musicianship of dream theater is unbelevable. every single one of them.
I'll never forgive myself for not going to a DT concert before Mike left :(
Lukas Parzinger Same dude...
We may not have Mike, but we have Mike!
Mangini is fun, but Portnoy really did bring that special something that will never be replaced. But I guess he could kind of be an ass too... Doesn't take away from his skill though.
Well, surprise surprise Mike is back!
@@Swejn bro, i had to wait 10 years for this. I'm not missing this opportunity

A hells kitchen é mais ou menos nessa linha de raciocínio?
Listening to Myung wail away during Petrucci's awesome solo.. Both masters of their craft.
One of their best and most underrated songs.
James Labrie!!!!!!!
This is one of my all time favorite DT songs.
That Outstanding Headbanging Outro! \m/
So, so, so good!!!
Mike is king
On that, everyone can agree
This is currently one of 'the' best rock ballads ever written. JP is a genius! \\m//
a waaaaay betta than the album version !
i am still discovering this band and after watching this i pissed my pants !
สุดยอด หาแบบแสดงสดตั้งนานเพลงนี้ ขอบคุณมากครับ

I still think this is a fantastic song!
Best live dvd ever ! Octavarium is the greatest album I ever heard !
This song is so relatable and so good..
Epic intro !!!
That riff is so damn heavy.

God I am so glad I own a baritone guitar they just feel and sound amazing!!
this is the type of song where you hear the recording and you're like "that's to good for them to really be able to play," but then you watch this video
2020 still best song ever
Band of the century :)
Great Sound 💕💘💘💘
@Atchim1234
I agree, I've often thought when listening that they do a lot in 6/8 and 3/4 timing. It's kind of like their 4/4.
2 people are deaf, I'm sorry you can't experience the awesomeness that is dream theater.
Great mix whoever did it
I really wish I could have seen them play this song live when I went to see them on that tour. This has always been my favorite song on that album.
perfection wow
what a killer guitar sound for live performance!!!
JP makes tuning a guitar sound awesome. that takes skill
I love the cymbal chokes @5:20 an @5:36. He plays them in time just like there was nothing to it. Portnoy is a monster.
ultimamente me eh enamorado mucho de dream theater, encuentro mucho potencial en ellos, son heniales & podria llamarlos el plink floyd del metal
This is maybe the first moment when John tunes his guitar on his own since Images And Words! :P
"then petrucci said, let there be god..."
Man Jordan looks badass with a full beard
This song is so badass
Nice Sound Life ... ... ... 💘
An I would really like to know who are the six people who don't like this song?
James is the best singer of all time

man... i cry in here....
I love the Halloween pumpkin on one of the two stands Petrucci has :D
@jdjb411 but who needs 4/4:)?
need to go to another show. soon not in CANADA this year T.O?
love it
Men that guitar is a John Petrucci's BFR it is his signature but is a baritone guitar, it does have piezos but different wood
best fucking guitar intro
the years when dream theater were still great
It still is pretty fucking great as a band, just a little less than it used to be.
Arvin Ranille they're still good, they've just changed a lot
Labrie sounds great here
@Meph761 Yeah. But the predlude and verses are in 6/8.
really, as good as the studio version
I typed these Walls in on UA-cam and it fucking came with miley fucking Cyrus. What an epic song.
yeah!! this rules!!
TOP...... DEMAIS.....
GREAT fcuking song
My favorite part is the ending
+Super sayain 3 vegeta Its over 9000!!!!
+mahir256 Your stupid
This song is so epic, but then again everything DT does is Epic.
Gonna miss Portnoy....

6:25 portnoy out here drinking slurp juice, wtf
Ah, if it's not a signature, maybe it's not wired for the split coil sound I'm talking about?
@dacuttingedge ballad?
his sound is Dream Theater. Simple as.

What guitar was John using?
+Super saiyan Broly EBMM Silhouette baritone.

For low tuning you need a large scale guitar
Nice pants John...
how can I get this bootleg?
John Petrucci making sure he's dressed for 2006
maybe best DT' song...

Muito bom !! XD
@DTxOctavariumx Theres a fair bit of 5/8 thrown in.
This is DREAM THEATER ,no now..
