I think you should leave the stock springs in there. If the engine was blown with those springs it will be a safety to keep the built engine from blowing. How do you blow a motor in a ZX14R just cruising down the highway anyway? That's all those big heavy bikes are good for.
This makes me think that I will have to buy a much faster bike this year just to keep this in sight.

So these engines are notorious for starving cylinder 3 piston rods bearing. Its due to the design of the crankshaft and how it pressurized that bearing. This happens alot to these bikes, and it unfortunately doesn't take much for it to happen. There are precautionary measures that you can take, but not everyone knows about them. As for the springs. We want to make sure that the springs control the clutch plates, and don't let them slip at all. When clutch plates slip, it's creates rapid wear on the plates, and could cause other issues. It's best to make sure that the bike is running A1 before she leaves. But yes, you would probably need a bigger bike to take this one on 😆

@gpperformanceandtuning it was the gen 1 that really had the starving issue. The gen 2 is less likely. But the oil pump cover mid helps protect the motor.
Also the brock springs with the clutch mod will help that bike.
      I also have a carpenter built zx14r .
Subbed. Looking forward to your channel growth 🙌🏿
