Animal whisperer on your sniper with a rabbit foot and a cat with the double animal bonus perk and the crit chance quirk gives you like a 23% base crit chance. It's fun oneshotting the biggest guy on the map with a sniper crit. I did 2000 damage to one dude at level 12 with a tier 5 sniper rifle.
Best tip I can give is save often the game while fun is glitchy and can be pretty buggy sometimes.
Save often because the game would crash every 20 minutes and sometimes with weird shit
10/10, would not rollback two hours of progress because i spawned with 7 man party which prevented me to ever leave the base again.
Same also buggy when taking cover or when you reload a save some stuff/people might disappear or its the wrong quickload but still fun
I often got softlocked in the trader menu which sucked cus a few times i had to redo a stressful fight
Played 40 hours and beat game in jerk. Only hard crashed once and there seems to be a bug when fighting fishlips otherwise never ran into any problems aside from some weird stutter during fights that would only last 1 turn
I saved to often.. hit a door that broke, but i didnt want to progress in the Boss room, so i walked around, clearing the rest of the area - saving often, because i had to reload 2 times wayyy back - and now the broken door is gone.. but i have to lockpick it to progress ( you see the problem) and the saves where the door was still intact are gone ;/ buggers
There is a benefit to taking 2 pre made characters. They come with some pretty amazing trinkets. Plus, once you get to a point in the game where you can make your own rangers, you can build 4 custom rangers and dismiss the 2 premade. Its what I did. Kept their trinkets too
Are the trinkets really worth it?
@@36louieboy i think so. I started with Yuri and Spence. Yuri has a trinket that increases range damage by 10% and Spence has a trinket
that increases hit chance by 5%. As far as I am aware, taking a pair of preset rangers is the only way to get their trinkets. Once you unlock ranger HQ and can build your own team, you can dismiss your presets but keep the trinkets. Its a nice wee boost to your team. All preset ranger teams come with 2 trinkets. You can do a bit of searching to find out what they are and choose what ones you want.
Yea but from a RP I preferred creating my own from the start
My tip, make sure you invest in at least 5 lockpick on 1 character AS SOON AS IS POSSIBLE as depending on what choices you make in Little Vegas one of the first main missions is impossible without it.

Pre-made starter characters can have unique items, don’t completely dismiss them
The punk duo starter class has a super strong crit charm you can only get by picking them

Remove any +Skill items before leveling, the game uses some bad math. Example, going From 3 to 4 Skill costs 2 points.
If you have 2 points in the Skill, and a +1 item, you will be considered having 3 Skill and you have to pay 2.
If you remove it first, and go from 2 to 3, you pay 1.
Also save the skill books for the last level of the skill
@@HistoritorJimaldus Common sense suggests spending the book on a high cost skill is better than a low, but it should probably be tested. The +Skill "glitch" is a visual one, it gives you the wrong point cost, but charges you as if you weren't wearing it. Its possible that the Skill book used early works similarly. If it does, then best to use them early, unless you plan to replace (Respec) a character.
It is fixed now.
Asking for a tow when you have team mates incapacitated will revive all your crew members. Also brings you back to ranger HQ.
Get weird science + big guns for bonus fire dmg. Get sneaky + snipers for bonus ambush dmg when starting a fight.

since you can remake characters right after arriving at hq choosing the premades to take their powerful items is a much better choice. otherwise great guide keep up the good work :)

You get a full heal when you level.
Also Skill books are a thing, save them to use on the last (most expensive) skills.
This tip is soo useful!! I wish I knew this before I used my 2 or 3 books right in the beginning where only 1-2 level points are required for a skill point whereas in the "end" of a skill you need 4-5 points...

Thanks for the video. I just bought my copy of the game and this was helpful even after already having experience from wasteland 2.
A note on the Attributes and Creepy Dolls, which are mentioned around 4:10. The dolls do not actually give you any Attribute points or buff any individual Attribute per se. While it's true that Keen Karen gives the whole party +1 Perception, perception is not an Attribute, it's a derived stat that is affected by Awareness. That said, Awareness also affects to hit chance and ranged damage, neither of which are helped by the Keen Karen doll, or any other doll for that matter. There is no great reason not to max out any given Attribute on any given character.
That said, your skills can often be affected by Utility items that will give them a +1 (e.g. the PDA, which gives +1 Nerd Stuff) while equipped, and then there are also skill books that can be consumed by a character to give one rank in a skill. There is at least one book for every skill, and in some cases two books for a few skills. There is no Utility item for any combat skill though, however there are Utility items that give derived stat bonuses that do affect combat, such as the Star of Bravery, which gives +5% to hit and to crit, and an action point, and +1 Hard Ass.

You forgot to mention lockpick and disable trap give exp to one party members, I got an character are explosive and lockpick focus and she is 5 level ahead of the other party members with only 4 hour that is without any bonus for quirk or background, so it would be wise disable any trap and lockpick every door and chest for those bonus exp, and enemy then to target the closet allies so just throw in a few turrent boot to take extra hit
Once you recruit IRV into your base, go to him do you can get cloned. The clone will then follow you. Also the dialogue for IRV is fucking hilarious.
They're still called the Desert Rangers because the rangers are not really trying to settle down in Colorado, yet.

Ya but you want to be able to set up your team pre encounter you cant do that with it moving your team as one.
A good combo for a team that has worked for me is two shotgun users both using different secondaries and shotguns two machine gunners one heavy one light and one automatic rifle and my light machine gunner has a rocket launcher and the last deploys mechs mostly (remember hit them hard first before they hurt u)

When you say "don't max out attributes because of dolls" is incorrect. There aren't any attribute dolls.
theres one trinket that gives +1 to all attributes though according to wiki. But there are generally better trinkets.

@@dandini0698 my only frame of reference was a comment saying so on another youtube video. I havent come across it myself(i didnt preorder) i doubt theyed give ya that item super late game, and im close to halfway through(i think).
@@eansba88- the preorder bonus has a hat that does that. However there IS a trinket that also does that, it's buried on the arena of a unique scorpitron boss fight. Not giving any details as the surprise is part of the fun.
Use the point dexter perk on one ranger that is designated as the "tech guy". The number of skill points will make him become proficient in toaster repair, weird science, nerd stuff and healing. Then use him as your support character.
It is best to do the tutorial with the premade characters because they have some of the best trinkets in the game, can't be got any where else. Take them, dump the characters and then make your own characters right after the tutorial

Mom’s Photo: Detection Time +0.2 Seconds

Vintage Toaster Handle: Fire Resistance +25%
9 Volt Battery: Energy Resistance +20%
you need to be able to move your characters individually in order to prepare for a fight. there is stealing in the game - if you ignore the warnings from the crate's owner, you'll be attacked.
Animal companions will prevent your PC's from finding cover if they are in the way...and you cant control them. So if you're trying to hide behind cover but major tomcat is standing there, youre out of luck
I’ve rarely had this issue. They add more benefit then cons
There is stealing, goes from lsot reputation to aggro
And there is no stats doll, actually, every stats has a little extra bonus for reaching 10, so going for it early is good.
Make extra Rangers and loot their stuff.
Reload after battle it glitchy. Just do an ammo check anyway, us if youre totally out it sucks never getting notified clearly till combat begins and nothing but click.
Loot, loot, loot...if I picked up my room as a kid like I loot in games my mom would have been so happy.
I think everyone does the Sniper, Melee, Assault, Shotgun combo to start if they played 2. I kind of want to try having 2 Melee next time.
Double up,
My sniper has brawling as his second main skill (just in case someone gets to close, the accuracy of a sniper is shit in close range)
My shotgunner is my blunt weapon/ animal handler
And one of my pistol characters has hacking
Both shotgun and pistol have medic skills. Medic on account of being in the front of the fray, and animal handling/ hacking because ya gotta get close to use em.
Of my two assault rifle characters
1 has explosives and mechanics (because those turrets and decoys are lifesavers)
And the other has heavy weapons for the aoe flamethrower(which at later levels has a perk that just destroys enemy's vehicals... after the clown fight i made that perk a priority)
The other pistol character i dumped stats into weird science, which i kindof regret, but maybe will pan out, as ive been finding unique(but rather useless) weapons that require the skill.
Couple that with the "followers" like the provost, the clone, and major tomcat, and ive got a squad of 10 before hacked/deployed robot friends. Nothings been to challenging as of yet, and i just took down my first scorpion robot thing.
When you're fighting the boss for the Night Club in Colorado Springs, you wanna ignore his henchmen/ads and go straight for the boss. Once hes down, then everyone surrenders.
When I did that, the mobs stopped attacking, the Boss said something like "What are you gonna do now?" (1 HP left) and suddenly everyone agro-ed again so I had to fight everyone in the club to get out. Oh well, EXP is EXP ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@JohnSmith-eg6bl Once the boss goes to a certain amount of health, he will surrender. It's like that for Fishlips aswell.
Once I had a firefight where my sniper was targeting an enemy. I didn't like the Hit Chance so first I applied a death mark on the target. Then I used a combat stim. Then I crouched. And after all these actions my sniper had a 93% Hit Chance. I made the shot. And missed. Damn shame...

Any tips on how to make my rangers do more damage? Even with max perception and some decent weapons, I feel like I’m killing enemies with a 1000 paper cuts...

with regard to character creation, you are wrong. The first pair start with special items you cant get anywhere else and they also have a special background.
How do I unequipt my animal follower cause I'm pretty sure he's dead and I am unable to get a new one due to 'already having one"
It's really glitchy right now I believe your ment to be able to have multiple animals but it only lets me have 1
Can someone explain how to revive characters who have died in combat and the timer has runout?
Do you fear brown snakes, funnelweb spiders and redback widows?
Not really you hardly ever see them , unless you go looking for them , I have only ever seen a brown snake once in my life .
I was much more fearful of rattle snakes when I was in the US and a saw them a lot .
I disagree with the first comment I had my whole party on a tether when I first got my new ranger HQ went into a room to disarm a trip wire and blew up my entire team.

New players, pick Yuri and Spence. They have 2 unique charms (for lack of a better term) you will not find anywhere else, and you'll wear them for the rest of the game. You can also re spec for a price, so don't worry about screwing up your build.
They are still called desert ranger because its called a snow desert :P
Your very first tip, and its a tip where you can just toggle a key.....a basic mechanic, who moves their rangers one st a time outside of specific situation...

There ARE stealing rules under certain conditions! Some characters will tell you to stay away from something. If they do, don't take it. Just aggrod people in the bazaar and had to load a save. You are wrong about that one mate

No there’s no permadeath in game. Use a spike if your in the field and rangers are down or just head to a doctor.

I would say pick the brothers to start because they both have a utility item that are highly beneficial so you can just take them and give them too other characters you created.

Thats not true for the pre-made characters, they have in fact all a unique utility items which can be use by anyone, like one has a charm that gives +10% crit chance, another +0,3 crit damage which is pretty strong. You just have to suffer throught the "tutorial" and once at base you can get rid if em and create your custom charc
They got pretty pissed off when I grabbed that rifle at the hoon homestead.

Snipers are absolutely broken. You can oneshot most enemies anyone across the map if you get +range mods.

Try to focus on 2-3 utility and 1 combat skill per character, for example, my party:
- Melee Weapons, Animal Whisperer, Hard Ass, First Aid.
- Small Arms, Mechanics, Nerd Stuff, Toaster Repair.
- Assault Weapons, Explosives, Leadership.
- Sniper Rifles, Sneaky Shit, Lockpicking.
Dammit I cannot unhear that! Truth snow rangers lol makes no sense as desert

@@lolersthe4th880 it's not all necessarily junk. You can take a perk that occasionally recognizes junk as an antiques which then sell for loads more of the value

@@lolersthe4th880 yes it's barter 7 and it's called antiques appraiser. You sell random bits of junk for 50x the amount. I guess it's most useful if you save your junk until someone reaches barter 7 then it can be hugely beneficial getting a load of cash.
So many choices and decisions to be made in this game 😂. I'm going to re-start and change my starting characters as a Poindexter sniper as my sniper has never been shot ever so the extra skill points will make him very flexible and my secondary as a max charisma assault rifle. 👍
@@steve323f I got my 3rd companion and ended rerolling right after realizing I was spreading my skills out thin. But can't agree enough, there is just so much choice in this game, I can't put it down.

Actually the "Character Creation" tip is a bit wrong. The pre-made duos have some unique dialog between eachother and some have unique trinquets. For example, one of the Punk Lovers starts with a necklace that gives +10% crit. (A better version of the Rabbit's Foot's +3% crit.)
quick question, whenever I try to initiate a 'ambush' with a sniper. from a distance (not discovered by enemy) ...it starts a dialogue with the enemy when i click to shoot..is this a bug? or are some fights unambushable without dialogue options?? thanks

they also got quite ok backgrounds
A tip to give is, keep all items that increase social and exploration skills. You dont need to max out skills if you have them for quest and opening locks and computer purposes. You only need to allocate points if you want a specific perk, but theres very few ones that are worth the allocation.
