    There’s something you gain here over cad, and that’s seeing it in 1:1 on the fly. Either way, it’s a lot of work no matter the process.
    Many times over my career I’ve been duped by on screen scale after printing objects.
    Keep up the good work Wray, this is a fun one to watch.

    This is some wild shit, Wray. Not because of the origin of the design but how you explain it and how its executed in real world based off an AI concept.. I have done this in CAD countless time with vintage models, plus 37 years of real (brutal) car design and engineering experience. Could write a dissertation on my approach but will watch as you evolve this concept. I can learn a lot. Just glad I do not have to attend 20 meetings to design a bolt.

    Nice project, I wanted the full scale dimensions of a Honda rc166 race bike. I used a projector to project a photo image of the bike onto a wall using the 18 inch wheels to get the image size right. Then traced around the image. It worked really well.

      I was thinking Wray could make a silhouette of himself seated in the actual seat he plans to use, and that 2-D paper or wood silhouette could go in place. I even looked up how to do a DIY silhouette of a seated person actual size but failed to find anything to recommend. Good idea to get the accurate size using the 18 inch motorcycle wheels, I couldn't imagine how to do that when I was thinking about it.

    A thought: The AI's "drawing" looks like someone asked it what a mid- or late-Fifties Ferrari 250GT Tour de France would look like if it had been designed and built by Alfa Romeo. You're using a V6, but the TdF was a V12. You may end up shortening the front half or so of the car a bit because you don't need that much room to get the shorter V6 behind the axle line of the front wheels.
    I look forward to the next video in this series with eager anticip--

    Really a great interactive process!
    Seems like there is a lot of hard geometry encoded in the AI rendering.
    If you boxed out some perspective rectangles directly on your photo, i bet you could get some pretty solid preliminary reference dimensions off the image using proportional dividers.

    Fascinating technique - so simple but so very effective.

      We definitely could. With the picture we are using, because it's a 3/4 view it's a little more difficult. Especially since we don't exactly know how the back is going to look, we will still be modifying things. Once the secondary lines are in, you will really start to see it pop.

    Great video on Wireform, but I think the shaping is too high & stocky, at least in contrast to how I see the rendering. The rendering looks low, even lower than a Ferrari 250 GTO & it looks swept back with the driver almost certainly sitting in a more reclined position. However that's my impression of the rendering & you are the master, so no doubt what you sculpt with be magnificent none the less.

    • @proshaper
      @proshaper  2 місяці тому +1

      Please keep the comments like this coming! I want to try to make this as much of a group build as well. When we get some secondary lines in place, that's when a lot of adjustments will have to be made. I think the height of a Ferrari 250 GTO is around 48 inches, it will be interesting to see how close we come to that height.

    Wray absolutely loving this ... thank you ... i hope you don't mind me saying this (i'm an artist painter by trade, so i'm used to creating things 3d on a two dimensional plain)... so here goes... i think the bonnet line centre line, where it meets the windshield needs to come down in line with the other outer line (height wise) if you come across the line of the wind shield left to right they are in a similar plain. hope thats ok to say.

    • @proshaper
      @proshaper  2 місяці тому +1

    • @proshaper
      @proshaper  2 місяці тому

      You're probably right on that. In the shop we're almost at a tie, some people say it's too high and others like it that high. It may have to come down to a vote from the audience!

  • @mechanismguy
    @mechanismguy 3 місяці тому +2

    I wonder if that Alfa engine is too tall for that rendering. Maybe a hood bump to fit it? I feel the super low front fender line is a big part of the appeal of this render.

    • @proshaper
      @proshaper  2 місяці тому

      I believe we will need to add that bump, I'm hoping to have a cutout of the engine that we can place in the wireform to see what else might need to be done. I also agree with the low front fenders, makes this rendering pop!

    Impressive however in my humble opinion it looks to short, too high. Any way to generate a true side profile image of the car?

    • @proshaper
      @proshaper  2 місяці тому

      We're still trying to figure out how we want the rear to look, so depending on that we may be making it longer. In the video we are filming now, we do address the height and we created a cardboard cutout of the engine to help. Unfortunately we only have the 3/4 view, if we generate a picture of the side it will then become a different variation of the car.
      We're using this design more as inspiration as the final result may not look exactly like it. We're just having a lot more fun on this one. Hope you like the way it looks after this new video drops on Friday.

Went ok until my screen didn't look like the tutorial. Other folks questions on the forum got answered within 24hrs. Two months later my question is still unanswered. So, I'm stuck at the impasse and continue hand drawing and drafting. Some things just are not to be.

    Does it make sense to always start with the wheel openings before creating the hood and roof center lines? The wheel openings seem like the one thing that is pretty much set in stone when it comes to placement. At least in relation to height.

    • @proshaper
      @proshaper  2 місяці тому +1

      Not necessarily. We usually start with the center line then the two primary lines for the fenders and go from there. The wheel openings have typically been later in the build. I just wanted for the viewers to be able to see our idea quicker on video, and was thinking placing the wheels might help with that.
