- Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2 is a tactical shooter video game developed by Red Storm Entertainment and published by Ubisoft for Xbox, PlayStation 2 andGameCube.
A Microsoft Windows version was planned but cancelled in April 2005 in favor of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.
It is a direct sequel to the 2001 video game, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon.
In the single player campaign, the player assumes the role of Ghost Team leader, Captain Scott Mitchell; in multiple missions the player is inserted alone and must complete the mission without assistance from the other Ghosts. - Фільми й анімація
Multiplayer in this game was the most fun I ever had aside from Halo 3. I miss those days. It was so sad seeing the multiplayer fade away.
Agreed 100%. This game in 2005 and 2006 was pure gold on Live.

@@narlycharley if the Ghost Recon games support System link on Original Xbox you can use Xlink Kai and we can all play again :) , and i really love the way the Xbox versions look; i fuggin grew up with GR 1, Island Thunder, GR2 and 2: Summit Strike(Xbox exclusive). i even played the Rainbow six 3 and the Xbox exclusive Black Arrow expansion, the PS2 even got a expansion based on Island Thunder with 8 new levels; it was called Jungle Storm
Once I saw the assault rifle with the scope and the laser for marking airstrikes, it suddenly felt very familiar. I know I didn't own this game but seeing that footage felt super familiar, I must've played it at a friend's house or something
This game was way ahead of its time all the ghost recon games were awesome. When I was a kid it was hard to understand but now that I’m older I can really appreciate it fully
Good Review, but you should have mentioned that the XBox Version is a different game from the PS2 and Gamecube Versions. PS2 and GC are Identical to each other, the XBox Version has a different Story and different Levels. The PS2 / GC game is more like the first half of he overall Story / Conflict and the XBox one is the Second half.

I remember this game being hard as nails for the original Xbox. The concept of a single-player shooter where you die in 2-3 shots was foreign to me. That on top of escort missions, being forced to survive waves of APC's, the time-limit segments... all of it is enough to both make me miss and not-miss this game at all.
After seeing your review, I was unaware that there was even a save feature despite having put about a hundred hours in this game. I ended up restarting levels multiple times and being super-stressed during the more difficult segments of the game. In the end, I gave in to temptation and started using cheats halfway through.
This and halo 2 were the best times I’ve ever had on Xbox Live. I’d wish I could go back... so much fun

This is a great game. My only real criticisms is that I wish some of the levels were longer, and I wish there were more of them. I also wish you could pick your teammate's equipment, and have access to silenced rifles and sniper rifles, similar to PS2's SOCOM: US Navy SEALs series. For a game called Ghost Recon, there sure isn't a whole lot of recon going on! The enemy AI could be sharper as well, but sometimes they really impress me by quickly flanking and surrounding my team, but other times I'll shoot a guy in the head at point blank range with a .45, and the guys next to him won't even react. The game looks great for its time, too, the gameplay and graphics have aged quite nicely.

The multiplayer in this game was a masterpiece. Some of the greatest maps, weapons and gameplay ever
I've always really liked this game. Never got around to playing Summit Strike though.

Apparently the Xbox version was different to the ps2. I would have been quickly killed if not instantly doing half the things in the gameplay video on the ps2.
got this game today for 5 bucks i love classic x box games ghost recon is so much better than the call of duty franchise and i love the original xbox's gritty graphics
GR2 reminds me a lot of Socom than GR1.

Looks way better than the ps2 version, and plays better. Every time I run in the ps2 version, it makes me sleep.
Oh, the PS2 version is dreadful. For the "most popular system of all time", PS2 certainly got a ton of low-effort ports and terrible shovelware games. Xbox had less games, but at the same time, most of them were of higher quality. Quality over quantity, I say.

There is no PC version of Ghost Recon 2 unfortunately. It was cancelled it 2005 in favor of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter on PC.

I wouldn't say that personally. In fact, I'd say the GRAW series on PC is actually excellent, and is the last true tactical shooters to be released since SWAT 4.
They play near identical to the original Ghost Recon, with various improvememts. It's extremely unforgiving and has a high level of realism.
I'd encourage you to give it another chance, especially if you really enjoyed the original release and its expansions.

What was it with the PS2 ports of every Tom Clancy game sucking so bad? Did anybody else ever notice that? It seemed like the Xbox installments were always the best version, ESPECIALLY when it came to Splinter Cell.
PS2 rarely had good ports, I've noticed. Take Brothers In Arms, for example - the Xbox version is an excellent port of the PC version, with only very minor differences in between. Good graphics, good sound, all's well. But the PS2 version has horrible tinny sound, the AI is horrible, and the Graphics look like a late PS1 era game. I don't know why PS2 always got shafted, since it had plenty of genuinely good games - Twisted Metal: Black, Metal Gear Solid 3, BLACK (which was also on Xbox), Bully, etc.
I know that some ports aren't actually made by the original developers, sometimes they outsource the ports to be made in China or something, and they probably just don't care. They don't have the passion of the main team in the U.S. or Europe or wherever, and just see the game as just another product to be pushed out. Sad.

You're speaking of "console players" like they were another category of human beings. Most "console players" also play games on PC. Just saying.
