- June the 5th marks 56 years since Israel occupied the last remaining Palestinian lands.
Since then, illegal settlements have been expanding throughout the occupied West Bank, changing the landscape.
Al Jazeera’s Nida Ibrahim and Willem Marx travelled in the occupied West Bank around the area to show how two similar journeys can be so different.
Nida drove from Bir Nabala to Al Ram and Willem drove from the Itamar to Ariel settlements.

Israel has occupied Palestinian territories since the 1967 Six-Day War. These territories include the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. Israel's occupation of these territories is considered illegal under international law.
Since then, Israel has built settlements in the occupied territories, which are considered illegal under international law. Settlements are Jewish-only or communities that are built on Palestinian land. The construction of settlements has been a major obstacle to peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
There is nothing illegal about the Hebrews reclaiming their promised land.
@drivebyquipper First of all, how do they even know they were the original jews in Egypt? Second of all, it sounds nice to some people, a jewish land. It sounds nice on paper, but when it's executed, its an entirely different story. Third of all, if you actually read the bible, there were people in that land before the jews, and not to mention the jews were driven out because they disobeyed god. The jews were lead to that land, but they kept getting banished, and finally by the Romans. Fourth of all, it's not right to steal other peoples property, even if that was their land 3000 years ago. But of course that land belonging only to them, the jews, is just not the case.

You're probably questioning, how you can universally support a group of people in a conflict and universally denouce the other, when quite literally one of those groups, the Palestinians never existed before 1948 but were created for the sole purpose of waging war against Israel. The question is, now that you know more than most people, will you change your opinion on the matter, or keep attacking Israel and supporting Palestinian terror against innocent Israeli people.
Supporting innocent Palestinians is not a mutually exclusive position to supporting the right of Israel to exist. You can advocate for both. I for one, denounce the demeaning treatment of Israel's government when it interferes with innocent peoples' lives, yet I also denounce Palestinian terrorism when they intentionally target Israeli citizens, women and children sitting on a bus on their way to school, or having a coffee at a cafe after work. It's not an either-or decision. Fighting for good doesn't require taking one side over the other, but treating both equally.
