- Israel continues to unleash hell upon the 22-by-5-mile concentrated area of Gaza, in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, with relentless airstrikes and indiscriminate bombings of hospitals, residential buildings, schools, and other civilian sites. As besieged Palestinians shelter and flee and die within the walls of their cage in Gaza, Resistance forces are mobilizing to rise up against an Occupation that has presided over lives for 75 years.
Where there is occupation, there is resistance, and numerous Palestinian resistance groups exist across the Occupied Territories. These groups consist of occupied subjects turned freedom fighters-those who have been directly targeted by Israel, who have witnessed their friends and families die at the hands of occupying forces, and who have been labeled "terrorists" for resisting their slow extermination. In Jenin, a 1km square ghetto-like refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, and the target of numerous Israeli incursions, there are many who have chosen the path of armed resistance, and many who felt they had no other choice.
For those who suffer under the direct oppression and daily practices of apartheid-including the suspension of human and civil rights, military-imposed blockades and checkpoints restricting people's movements, the demolition of homes and killing of family members-there comes a breaking point. Generations of Palestinians, born into Occupation and violence, do not live a life of dignity. As they describe, under these conditions, they have nothing to live for and nothing to lose, and they have everything to fight for.
In July of this year, before the Oct. 7 Hamas-led attacks and Israel's genocidal retaliatory offensive in Gaza, The Real News Network spoke to members of the community in Jenin refugee camp about their lives under Occupation, the role of the Resistance there, and the fight for freedom.

Here I am in the West reading books, articles, carefully selecting my words, my actions to raise my children in a safe, nurturing environment because all the experts agree that that is essential for every child. So if you grow up in poverty, war, hopelessness, occupation , only miracles will help you escape the consequences. Violence only breeds violence. Keeping humans in a cage will only bring out the instincts to survive.

Anyone who criticises or condemn the resistance never understood real systemic oppression, never seen or lived in one. These people live in oppression through generations. Peace deal after peace deal but nothing changes except things getting worse.
Be grateful that you don’t live in oppression and never had to choose the path of arm resistance because many of us are living a privileged life. We can call the cops, take things to court, make noise in the media, talk to politicians, make demonstrations, boycott, peace protest, write letters and articles. Our ancestors waited only 3 years after the Holocaust to wage one of their own, in 1948 they began ethnically cleansing Palestine. Shameful beyond words.
My wife is Vietnamese. She grew up in the Mekong Delta in Ben Tre province. Her family was almost entirely Viet Cong. The VN people were at war from the French invasion in 1859 until the end of the American War in 1975 and beyond as they then had to fight the Khmer Rouge and then China. There are still bomb craters all over their village, now filled in with water. Many of her family were killed. But since the war, almost everyone in the nation has prospered. Her father is a very succesful farmer who put all 4 of his kids through college, one of his daughters is a physician, his son is a pharmacist. My wife has a degree in computer science. They just built a new house. At the end of the war they had nothing, literally nothing. But people who are so committed can do amazing things when they are set free.

Im from Ireland 🇮🇪 we had to do the same thing. We became our own country in 1916 it took yrs of fighting death and we also formed our own freedom fighters The Irish Republican Army, all our leaders were executed after the 1916 rising but they all new the cost, also during the rising they wrote the Irish Constitution. We did win But we did not get all out land back , the English still control Belfast but someday i believe we will be a united Ireland once again. If you notice a pattern, almost all the outpouring support towards the palestinians comes from former british colonies, not just islamic countries.
What the brits did to the palestinians was done to Malaya too. They brought so many chinese and indians and as workers and when world war ended, they refuse to spend the funds needed to send these immigrants back. We were simply told to accept these people as our countryman, bogus commisions and referendums were done, that had nothing to do with the people that had to mingle with these immigrants on daily basis, whom so many are still loyal and tied to china and india and until now still cant integrate well. My father was born in 1944 and was not allowed inside of Palestine. He worked so hard in his life and was able to become an American, which allowed to him to visit his land before dying.

As a native American, it took decades to learn how much context and nuance was left out of our news reports. It really hit home for me after October 7, when CNN would literally only report on the Israeli side of the story, while other sources painted a more clear picture. Those of us in America who know the history of this region, support Palestinian statehood, and independence, and are at odds with sending arms to a country that is by all accounts, committing genocide and overtly stealing land and imprisoning people.

My grandfather was a freedom fighter against the British colonizers... they even jailed him for sometime. I remember the one time, he told me how they dragged the body of his brother through the village in a bid to root out resistance and how he couldn't claim his brother's body. The British soldiers later dumped his body somewhere in the forest. My grandfather's story is not unique...so many stories like these exist all around the world. You cannot subject people to violence and cruelty for decades and expect that they won't fight back. There's just so much that a human being can withstand before they say "enough".

Blaming a god, any god, is taking personal responsibility off the shoulders of people for the way things currently are in the world and that lack of taking personal responsibility makes it difficult to create change.

History will bear witness to the injustice of the Western and Arab world towards our people. But it is a sacred land and we cannot hate anyone. When you come to pray. In Al-Aqsa Mosque or in the Church of the Nativity and the Church of the Resurrection, remember the price our people paid in order for you to pray in comfort and safety. What did you do for this land and its people to deserve prayer in it??!!
