I have 9 cards
So the AmEx charge cards I currently have are the green, platinum, and gold. As for credit cards I have the Surpass and Delta reserve. I've been meaning to get the Aspire but it keeps getting pushed back due to shiny object syndrome. If I get the Brilliant card right now, would I be able to use that $300 travel credit before September 22nd and still double dip and get the dining credit? What would you do in my situation given that the annual fees are waived for me?
@@wanderingdoc5075 no
I have 9 cards all together between ,
Personal and business , lending and non lending
If you need to run to take a chair at the pool you are not on vacation and in the wrong place. Chose a more civilize location on your next vacation even more if you are taking your family. More expensive but worth every penny and peace of mind. Cheers 🍻.
I agree with you, but it’s like that at most vacation and cruises…
Amen!
German tourists are notorious for waking up early and setting down their towels lol so it’s not about a “civilized” location but the culture.
Will have to watch this more than once. So much to take in. It's always great when you breakdown the number and extra credit for doing a live dummy booking.
Love this style video! Hugely helpful when trying to fill slots that provide the most potential value. Thank you!
Excellent information Sebby. Your information and knowledge of the credit card game is outstanding. I’ve had many credit cards over the last 30 years, and never had an American Express Card. Now, I’m all in with Amex. Platinum, Gold, BCP, Delta Gold, Charles Schwab Platinum, & Charles Schwab Investor Card.
Your channel has helped me navigate this credit card (miles & point games)..
Love the NBA comps Sebby keep em coming
It's so funny you made this video. I was wanting to ask you your road map for credit cards. This fits the idea for Amex. You should do the same for the other banks following their rules.
Great video; very thorough 🌴
AMEX setup is expensive - but definitely worth it if you can maximize the perks/benefits. Thanks for the video.
fantastic video
Super helpful video! 🏝
Great video!
New subscriber here. What great information. Thanks!
🏖 great video and options!
Informative 😁👍
🏖 This video actually came at the perfect time, since I just got approved for the Hilton No AF card. Now I have something to shoot towards as far as setups.
🏖 more of these please. And an update of first 5 cards -for a person/family that travels.
🏝🏝🏝Sebby the 🐐! Seeing the card that offers mex value (aspire) and going for the kill!! I like it. Aspire is just a must have card for sure!!
My 4 Card Setup:
Hilton Aspire, Hilton Business, Delta Business Reserve, BBP. Trimming charge cards down to the Personal Gold.
🏝 I am running the platinum, gold, Hilton Aspire, and blue cash preferred on the personal side and a Business Blue Plus for my business. What I learned today was about getting more than one Aspire. I have 2 million Hilton points and love the two free certificates I receive from my Aspire (over $60k in spend)….but now I am going to get one of the other Hilton cards and upgrade in a year. I have been playing the game for years but you taught me a new trick! Thanks!!!
I got the Chase Sapphire Preferred recently, I love it!
🏝🏝🏝Hope you fell better soon! I'd go with the Amex Trifecta and round it out with the Delta Reserve for the MQD waiver, bonus MQMs and companion certificate. Aspire is a great value and I may just add to the four for this exercise 🙂. Great, helpful video as always!
Love my Plat + Gold duo.
I love my investor card I know theres 2% cards out there but I actively invest its my workhorse card for the everything else catagory. It just has a high limit competitive interest rate and I like how it automatically redeems for me.
I currently use the Citi Custom Cash for groceries, but the problem is I routinely spend over $500 per month on groceries, especially if I want to take advantage of Kroger fuel point bonuses on gift cards. So soon I will get the BCP and use that for groceries most of the year until I hit the $6000 limit. During that time I'll use Custom Cash for home improvement or some other category. Once I hit the $6000 limit on BCP, I'll use the Custom Cash for groceries the remaining months.
When I first applied for my Amex Platinum I didn’t think I’d be building an Amex setup. Well, here I am. I have the Platinum, the Gold, the Delta Platinum, and now the Green card in my wallet. Some people don’t like the credits but I like knowing I’m guaranteed some value assuming I use my cards in certain ways. Amex’s point earnings are competitive and their customer service and lounge network is really good too. As someone who travels a lot and eats out, their trifecta really makes sense for me.
This goes deeepppp 🏝
The Schwab Investor card has something called the "Dining & Events" Assistant. However, it's actually outsourced to the Amex Concierge team. Effectively giving this card a no annual fee card with the Concierge line.
I have this card complimenting my Amex Green. I'll probably need to get a BBP or an Everyday to preserve my MR points in case if I decide to cancel my Green (which right now It's not on my radar).
🏖️ hoping to build out the op sebby setup for Hilton 🔥
🏖 Thank you Sebby!
Having 10 charge cards would be quite the expensive setup, but props to those of y’all that have that many! The Amex Gold card has got to be my favorite credit card with Amex as it is a straight up workhorse card that gets pulled out of my wallet almost daily. I would say the most underrated card Amex card is the Hilton Aspire, but it’s definitely starting to get the recognition it deserves. That thing is packed with value if you use it to its fullest. Great video Sebby! Always enjoy your content.
Do you also have a platinum? Thinking I should compliment my platinum with the gold card as well, but not sure which card I should get for hotel rewards
The Aspire is definitely on my bucket list. I had to get the Hilton Honors and Surpass first but the Aspire is up next
@@SledgeIncTeam Heck yeah man. Gotta climb the ropes! Glad we think alike.
@@jdthompson4197 I do not have a platinum yet, but I may get it down the line. If you’re looking for travel specific benefits, the platinum is the way to go. If you’re looking for hotel status and a bunch of other travel benefits, I would look into the Hilton Aspire. I think the gold will always be the card I put the most spend on, but the platinum would be a dedicated travel card for the benefits it comes with.
@@SpencerJohnsonOfficial it's the only way to go... Get all the sign up and upgrade bonuses on the way to Diamond status
🌴great vid.
I love my delta reserve! I may look into the Amex gold card though.
looooooving the NBA references 🙌
🏝my current Amex set up is Platinum, Gold, BBP and Prime Business.
The BBP is key here since it’s the only way to get 2x on everything in MR. The Prime Business because I shop a lot on Amazon and there really isn’t a way to get consistent 5x back uncapped here. CFF might offer 5x UR which is technically better but it’s only for 1 quarter and it’s capped at $1500 spend.
The only other card I am really considereing is Hilton Aspire for the extra incidental credits to bank into United travel bank with my Platinum and the Conrad credits.
Team Hilton as well. Player 2 mode. We like the surpass due to the multipliers. Hilton takes care of you as well. Upgrades for days
HI Sebastian- thank you for your great content as always. You are always spot on---except on this topic. I was told there was no limit. I will find the email. They said "you can have as many as you can qualify for"---(not a direct quote--but thats what they told me about 2 months ago). I got my first one (green card) in 1979. And since then- I have a green and platinum business card--2 cards. I have a delta gold and purple, 2 more. I have a gold and everday 2- so I have 6 cards. Honestly I will probably get rid of the delta reserve, the everday and the green business. I just dont need them. I use the green business if the platinum gets a high balance- and they start getting nervous "we approved your purchase but you need to make a payment"----blah blah -- My business--I buy about 20K monthly on that card and some months a little more- so when the balance gets around 25K they start emailing me to make a payment or risk declining future purchases- which is ridiculous because they have always been paid. And- when they do that I just use the green card-and they obviously know that. That happens maybe 2x a year, and I'm sure if they started declining purchases I could make a payment or call them and I'm sure they would accommodate me- since they have always been paid.
This is what they say as of april 2022: Currently, you can have up to five American Express consumer credit cards at one time. It is important to note that American Express offers multiple types of cards - business cards and consumer cards - and that the rule only applies to consumer cards where you are the primary cardholder.Apr 29, 2022
I’ll probably do the 3 aspires in my setup. That’s a great idea. Btw, you said to upgrade the Hilton to the aspire and the surpass to the aspire, but couldn’t you also upgrade the Hilton to the surpass, then the following year, upgrade it to the aspire? That way you get an extra upgrade offer?
4 Card Setup:
Delta Gold
Blue Business Plus
Hilton Aspire
Hilton Aspire
Flex:
Whatever card has a lifetime high SUB
I have had 7 leaning credit cards for less than 10 months which 4 business cards and 3 personal cards which Helton Honors personal and business, Delta Gold personal and business, Personal magnet card, Amazon business card, Lowes business card. Plus 4 charge cards which Al personal! Hope that helps others!
It's always interesting seeing the different rule sets credit card companies follow!
Ya I have 5 credit cards and 3 charge cards with AmEx. The 5th credit card was only added just last month. I'm aiming for the 3 Aspire cards and could go for a 4th; my 5th is the BBP (but would need to remove my long time Blue Cash Everyday card which was converted long ago from the Costco version)
I just opened my 5th lending card last month in the BBP.
🏖🏖 what do you recommend for a couple that currently have platinum, Amazon and BCE? I'm trying to stay away from overlap, love the videos
My first two AMEX cards were the Gold and the EveryDay Preferred. I applied an hour apart and regretted it because I did not do enough research. The only value EDP has for me is the 2x on gas. I then got the BCP which I really wanted as my main cashback card. That's the only 3 I have with Amex. I plan to either downgrade the EDP or close it when I hit a year and keep the Gold and BCP as is.
I am in the fence with the hotel and airline cards. I don't travel much, on average would be 1.5 times a year, which is why the Platinum would be a bad idea.
I plan to get the Green and Blue Business Plus as my next 2 cards. Green because I feel it's for small time travelers and it's the only card I think in their stack that offers points on 3rd party travel sites like Expedia, Orbitz, etc. while the Gold & Platinum are for booking directly from airlines & Amex travel, plus for someone in NYC like myself it's good for taking the subway, Amtrak, Path Train, and Metro North as well as taking the bus, paying tolls, taxis, ferries, rental cars, and parking. Wish the AF was $95 though.
My AMEX Setup is kind of oddball. Pers Plat, 2x Gold, Bonvoy Pers and Biz, Delta Blue, Everyday and Hilton Aspire. I usually use the credits to easily offset the AF's and work for retention offers when I can. Blue and Everyday were downgrades to cut down on AF's of Delta Plat and EDP.
I currently have the Marriott Business, Hilton No Fee, Hilton Aspire, BCE, BBP, and Gold with PoT turned on (had a bonus), so we'll see if I'll have to cancel a card or stick in amex charge card land for a while. (The Hilton No Fee would be the first to go)
My 4 cards will be all Bonvoy Amex, including 2 from Canada (regular and business) and 2 from the US (Brilliant and business). My point valuation is 1+ cent per points so it’s great value for me. Brilliant Amex offers unlimited Priority Pass so I don’t need to pay $600 on another premium card for that purpose.
My setup. Platinum and gold with Blue business plus for my trifecta. Then blue cash everyday. My flex would be blue cash preferred and delta gold or one of the Marriott
🏝️I currently have all 3 delta business cards because I fly delta all the time and use the intro bonuses as well as the MQD waiver, and then the BBP. Might look into switching to an Aspire card or 2 now. Really only need the Delta Business Platinum.
Do you also get the intro bonuses when you upgrade the no fee and the surpass Hilton cards to Aspire??
🏝️ my current setup is the bbp, plat, aspire and the csp. I just cancelled the gold, don't spend that much on groceries anymore
I would recommend a low pass filter up to about 300hz to get rid of the boominess and make the audio more clear. Or increase distance to the mic (proximity effect) and increase the gain on your interface or add a cloudlifter for the sm7b
Running SM7B => Cloudlifter => Rodecaster already w/ Roadcaster at ~45%. I've bumped it up to 60% before but it sounds worse / sounds like I'm blowing out the mic.
Will try the low pass filter though!
@@AskSebby thanks for the years of high quality content! Next stop: the moon!
Right now I’m a masters student on a full ride scholarship and no job so I can focus on my studies. I’m avoiding those annual fee cards and run a Citi custom cash, Chase freedom unlimited, and a local banks 2% off everything card. When I graduate I’ll be an officer in the military and I’m gonna have a similar set up to you (but with the gold charge card and platinum) since I won’t have to pay for the annual fee and I can have my wife get the same cards so she will also not have to pay for them. We’d legit be able to take a damn good vacation every year for essentially free.
🏝I’m capped at 5 credit cards; I have Hilton Aspire, Hilton Business, Amazon Prime, Blue Business Plus, and EveryDay. Plan to swap out Hilton Business and EveryDay but not sure yet what will take their place.
My 4 amex cards are Delta skymiles, Hilton honors, amex blue and amex green
BBP is a great catch all card that may qualify you for great business specific Amex Offers like that Verizon $75. If you don't mind high AF cards then the right answer is 4 Aspires. If you want a compliment to Platinum and Gold charge cards then BBP, Everyday Preferred, may be biz Gold and something else as the 4th card ⛱️
Found this out the hard way this year. I closed my Delta gold to apply for the Delta Business Reserve and I was denied due to reaching the 4 card limit. I had 5 credit cards prior to this.
My first card I am an AU on a BCP, do you know if that counts towards my limit? I'm definitely on team travel now, so I don't have much use for it atm.🏖
So should I get the Gold card or the Blue Cash preferred?
Current setup is Plat, Gold, Delt Res, Delt Plat, Aspire and Bonvoy...I may dump the Delta Plat in the fall, but not sure that I will since it has better multipliers than the Reserve...and right now I'm chasing Delta medallion status.
🏖 Trying to figure out which card for slot four. Considering Morgan Stanley BCP, BBP, or Schwab Investor. Currently have 3x Platinum, Gold, Delta Reserve, Hilton Aspire and Vanilla BCP (have high grocery spend). Team Cash Back. SCRA/MLA applies.
🏖
I currently have the BCP. Kind of upset the annual fee kicked in the next month. I am thinking of getting the BCE for the 3% online. Beyond that I am not sure as plans have changed. 😀
🏝 if you wait the year before cancelling an amex card can they still take your points away if you cancel a lot?
Is there a way to calculate when it is better to use the Platinum card (5x point bonus) versus the Business Gold card (25% point rebate)?
To get into the delta lounges do you need to also fly through delta or can you fly another airline and still get into their lounge as long as you are platinum holder?
New to the multi card idea here. I have a Gold, husband has Platinum. I get platinum offers all the time, but they call that an upgrade, so I thought that would replace my gold, not added to. Is there a way to indicate you want both? Also, doesn’t juggling all these card applications mess with your credit?
Hi Sebby, I'm doing Platinum, Gold, BBP, Delta Gold, Hilton Surpass, I 'm thinking which will a good choice, Hilton Honors no annual or the Hilton Business before getting the Aspire?
🌴 ⛱️ So the AmEx charge cards I currently have are the green, platinum, and gold.
Hey Sebby, I have four AMEX credit cards, two of which are authorized user cards. Do they still count? Thx
If I have an aspire can I apply directly for another aspire or do I need to do a lower tier card then UG after 1 year?
🏖….. not sure what I would build out as I started with a cf/cfu by accident not knowing any better. I also have the chase signature Amazon prime, and now an Amex gold. Been thinking about adding platinum but the csr is also calling my name
I'm up to 5 Amex credit cards and 5 Charge cards. The Aspire is on the bucket list but I have to see if they'll give me a 6th card or will I have to drop one
I have the Amex Green blue cash everyday and the blue business plus
Am I confused or does Amex not offer primary rental coverage and cell phone protection with a particular card? Or should I pick the venture x to take advantage of those.
I got 5 lending cards; 3 aspire cards, 1 blue cash preferred, 1 HH business.. tempted to apply for one more lending as they sent me an invitation for a delta card
If I have 3 regular Amex cards and 1 charge card can I still apply for one more?
hello, is amex life time bonus rule really life time? i have seen people say they got bonus again after 6 -7 years... thanks
If I have both the Chase Flex and Unlimited and also the have the Chase Sapphire preferred and its been 48 since I've had the CSP, how do I get the CSP bonus again?
🏝
I think the sports ball references are funny even though I don’t understand them.
🏝 I downgraded Aspire during pandemic, can I now still upgrade. it? I’ve been looking for upgrade offers but haven’t seen them.
I have:
Hilton Surpass, 8/2021
BBP, 1/2022
Gold, 6/2022
Really want the Aspire, but don't want to eat my Feb 2023 5/24 status. But also don't want to lockout of the bonus. I have seen 100k basic Hilton bonus when in incognito browsing though, and would churn that later for a surpass or 2nd aspire later
I am retired and spend about 25k a year. I have the Hilton Surpass and Delta Platinum. Thinking about upgrading to Aspire but and adding Citi Custom Card.
Could you do a similar video to this but with chase
I have the Blue Cash Preferred and I use it to buy groceries and gift cards for Amazon at the grocery store. I get 4x points for Shell gas ($100 gc = 400 points or 40ç off per gallon) with Kroger/Ralphs along with the 6% cash back from Amex. Good if you're single and won't buy $6k in just groceries. Great for how much gas is today.
oops! I forgot the 3% cash back on the actual purchase of gas on the card too. So it's like a triple dip on one card.
🏝 BBP, Hilton Aspire x2, Delta Business Reserve and Bonvy Business
How do I figure out which one is Hilton resort and which one is a regular Hilton one hotel that the 250 hotel credit can’t apply? Can I use this hotel credit to buy gift cards and use them later?
The Gold, Hilton Aspire, and Blush Business Plus are my setup. I plan on applying for the Platinum card in a month or so.
I didn't fly much this year so I'm just Squirreling away points until I get the Platinum Card then I'll have my perfect travel setup for 2023.
The intro! 😂😂
Come on buddy! This is a new video, make clear (at 17:08 in the video) that the 300 "credit" is NOT Marriott credit but resto credits, otherwise, love the work!
🏖 I had that router too Sebby! It also throttled my internet 😞
good to know it’s not just me!
Sebby blessing us with the Barry White voice today…
🏖🏖🏖🏖My four cards would be Four Aspires and a Delta as my flex card if I could start over.. I currently have the Marriott Bonvoy, Business Marriott, Delta Reserve, and Blue Business plus. I may try to add a second Delta or Blue card.. I'm unsure.. Feel free to opine. 🏖🏖
Looking for sweet spots for the FHR credit outside of Vegas.
We never used Uber and in Daytona Beach we don't have access to any of the dining options for the Amex gold...So no credits available.
Two Hilton aspire
Marriott brillant
Delta reserve or another aspire card
I really liked this style of video where you focus on strategies to maximize the opportunity available. As for the Hilton free nights, do they carry over or is there a limited time as to when to use them? say if I get 3 Hilton aspire and left it accumulate to 6 night in 2 years and use it then. Just curious to know.
1 year lifespan
To my knowledge, all free nights certificate expires one year after you earn them
And you have to complete your stay by the expiration date, not just book by. Not sure if that was obvious.
🏖 it seems like you’re not a fan of the companion certificates that come with the Delta Platinum or Delta Reserve. Why is that?
🌴 how are you able to use $1250 in incidentals? That’s a lot of checked bags, upgrades, or drinks onboard
I only have a Discover Cash-back and Chase Cask-back (both for 10 years+). I just applied for a Chase Freedom (waiting on reply). FICO=800+, so what Amex should I apply for out the gate?
