HOLY SHIT! This version is so much better then that other live performance. Hugh really added some beautiful parts. My favorite improvement from the last version was 1:31 to 1:41. That was a beautiful piano line.
One of my late husband's favorite songs! He would be excited to hear it brought to the limelight and that Laurie and other musicians performed it so well. Here's to you, Baby!
I’m an alien, British, just like Hugh. We know him as an actor in comedy. His most popular series is, as a useless drone. I often pull down outtakes of “Blackadder” on youtube. Being comedy, I think the whole series would be viewed by the faux warriors like your president. But they hit the bare knuckle truth, like pointing out that ww1 generals give their troops in the killing fields from a safe mansion about 30 miles back from the action. I spend many hours now on here exploring new music people like Canan (12.5 years old). We are lucky, my current tear producer is Heart doing Led Zeppelin’s version of “Stairway to Heaven” at Kennedy Centre. They found John’s son Jason to play the drums in his absence. The event has a great audience including Bonnie Raitt, Michelle and Barack. The fans comments on there are like “greatest recording ever”. Robert is tearing up and Jimmy obviously just wants to get up, grab a guitar, and join in!
That laugh at 4:58... Mr. Laurie would make an excellent Bond villain... but only if they let him do the soundtrack too. This is better than the album version.
This entire show was broadcast New Year's eve by our local station.. SO much better than watching Times Square... can't get enough of this Hugh is amazing!
Stephen Grant : nice compliment! Here in UK we see him as a very accomplished comedy actor. There are a few scenes of him on youtube in “Blackadder”. He plays the Prince.
It's a wonderful song, surely one of the best they have played. I especially like the passage starting from 1min58. So thank you and good continuation.
beautiful. what makes music is the enjoyment in the performance and the replication of it. Hugh Laurie has both and is pure amazing, given it his touch.
thank goodness Hugh posted a picture of him performing this song on Facebook...otherwise i would have missed this ! oh he's the BOSS ! :D and yeah @4:57 amazing laugh! hahaha :P
He's gpt the wrong lyrics..."I went Down to Princeton-Plainsboro tucked deep in South jersey When I got there I was met by Lisa Cuddy she was round in all thr right places But her head was screwed on tight and square I mean she was so backward thinking You could slide right off the edge of the Earth in her prehistoric antique administrative ways.. so I picked up the bottle of Vicodin and told Wilson hey man, she's got me so deep the pains radiating deep in my head. I went down St james..
That's a resonator guitar (or "slide guitar"), wich can only play flat notes. Maybe it's one of Hugh Laurie's own guitars, because it looks the same as the slide guitar he played 'too long Johnny' on in "A bit of Fry and Laurie".

Did you have a jazz band at his funeral to raise hell as they went along? I want one.

Hugh Laurie is unbelievable! What an excellent musician.
The way those drums and bass lock perfectly after he says "died standing pat". Now this is real music.

He does make an exceptionally good villain. Watch "The Night Manager". No music though.
Watch him in The Night Manager. Villainous af
I love the addition of the back-up female vocal -- & the way she looks like she's really enjoying grooving along to the music!
I had no idea he had such an amazing voice.
This entire show was broadcast New Year's eve by our local station.. SO much better than watching Times Square... can't get enough of this Hugh is amazing!

This song was over far too quickly. That laugh got me moving, stank face fully going, Damn Hugh!
He's gpt the wrong lyrics..."I went Down to Princeton-Plainsboro tucked deep in South jersey
When I got there I was met by Lisa Cuddy
she was round in all thr right places
But her head was screwed on tight and square
I mean she was so backward thinking
You could slide right off the edge of the Earth
in her prehistoric antique administrative ways..
so I picked up the bottle of Vicodin
and told Wilson
hey man, she's got me so deep
the pains radiating deep in my head.
I went down St james..
Where I can this version of the song? It's a lot better than the album one...
@TumblingDice21 Look up Allen Toussaint's "Tipitina & me" as well as Tut's Washington and James Booker.
