I just wanted to say that i really appreciate your content. It is often very challenging for us, foreigners, to know what Thai people think because we come from different cultures and they are not as straight as us to express their thoughts. You break this with your straight but respectful content. This helps us to understand some behavior that could appears non sense without any proper explanation or cultural knowledge. I live in Thailand for many years now and there are still many things I can't understand and that every time put me in a WTF moment 😅 I guess sometimes we should also not try to understand because it can be impossible, just accept and move on without being judgmental. I would also like to say that "foreigners" includes the rest of the world and there are huge cultural difference between us even between foreigners with the same appearance (skin color). That's why we also have stereotype between us too like you may have stereotype about Laotians, Vietnamese or Chinese. I think there is always a little bit of truth in stereotypes, the problem is when somebody take this stereotype as the real and only truth, this is when it become an issue. Having stereotype about somebody different is a normal human behavior and is deeply wired in our brains.
Your English is very good and I've noticed it's continuing to improve, so you should be proud of your English skills. Also, I was mentioning to a friend yesterday about your channel because I believe your channel is one of the few in Thailand from a Thai perspective that gives us the truth as opposed to many other channels which are just trying to promote themselves or their products. Keep up the good work!🎉❤
Thank you so much for your kind words and support! I’m really happy to hear that my English is improving and that you find my channel genuine and helpful. It means a lot that you shared it with your friend. 🎉❤️
The best, most appropriate response to criticisms about your English is: “How’s you ability to speak Thai?”… People often forget that their personal culture is NOT the center of the universe. As an American, I can attest that we are arrogant, and that we presume that everyone else should speak English, while the vast majority are incapable of speaking English properly, much less a second language… Your English is great!😊👍🏽
@@ThaiThoughts My Thai girlfriend apologizes to me all the time about her English skill, I have to constantly remind her that she's the smart one because she speaks and reads two languages while I can only manage one.
I was/am a solo traveler. I had got to know a Thai lady from Facebook who live in Hua Hin. After some time of communication together I had share that I had like to travel to Bangkok most of my time. So, she shares and told me that Hua Hin was more better and cheaper place to travel there. She told me when I travel there, she would show me around. So, I had agreed and had planned to travel there. So I had decided to travel there, I had managed to meet her on my first day for morning breakfast at a cafe and we walk around for a short time before she went to work in the afternoon and then we met again in the evening time for dinner, she was been greeted and talking to the stalls staff/owner on our way and after dinner we walk around the night market there. All the morning breakfast at cafe and dinner I had to pay by me together and she wanted me to give some tips after each time finishing eating to the stall/cafe. Then I told her that for the next day I could not afford to go and eat at expensive place because I did not have a lot of money left when I return to my hotel room. Then on my second day she did not want to reply and respond to my messaging and meeting anymore. I did not want to keep pestling her because I had already prepared what this might happened, and I decided to just continue my second day there had my own free and easy time for myself walking around there and not to get very discouraged and disappointed too much at all. So, what was this lady and situation consider as 'Stereotype'? May I know. Some of the sharing you mention about foreigner, I do not fully agree because not ALL foreigners were/are the same type. It is/was better to give specific whether 'ALL' or 'some or many' All in English means every single one/person. SOME or MANY means not every single person. It is o.k for me that not everyone is/can be perfect to speak in English or any other language.
Thanks for sharing your experience. From what I mentioned, it’s impossible to say ALL, but the term 'stereotype' refers to the idea that SOME Thai people may generalize all foreigners in that way.
First time I send my compliments before I saw the entire video except for the end. Your warm greetings bring bright 🌞 into this grey weather. Eager to learn back and enjoy. Thanks alot 🙏. Wait for my comment later 😊. K

@ThaiThoughts Yindee khrap. A question right now: You are talking about foreigners from western countries exclusively? In other words, no other east asian people?
Mostly yes, in Thai social media, foreigners from Western countries are often mentioned, probably because our cultures and backgrounds are so different. But of course, there are some different perspectives when it comes to East Asian people too. 🙏😊

very interesting subject. your English is very good and perfectly understandable! here in Sweden most people move out of their home in their early 20's, some earlier than that. it's just our culture :) we want to show that we are independent and can take care of ourselves. I can understand that many Thais don't want to speak with foreigners because of the language barrier and the fear of "losing face" which I know is a big thing in Asia. we westerners are not really concerned about losing face the same way Asians are. it's not a big thing to "lose face" (getting angry, make a fool of yourself, or whatever the situation may be) here. it happens all the time and most people don't really care. we just forget it and move on :) about being late, yeah that happens a lot! lol. especially in Bangkok where the traffic is always heavy 😋 I always try to come in time but it's difficult sometimes

Yeah, they probably are ( some of them partially and some of them exaggerated ) but true. And an idea for a future video: Is the romantic person welcomed or it can be overwhelming. And how would expect a Thai girl to be taken care of ( beside the financial part ).
@@ThaiThoughts The man who propositioned you probably does the same in his own country too. There are men in the UK who ask random women in the street if they will sleep with them. They don't even ask the women to dinner. They have a high rate of success too. 😲
From a Thai woman's perspective, they are programmed and told a farlang is a farlang , there are exceptions, but you can be a smarty dressed presentable foreigner who has adopted thai culture and can speak some Thai, or a scuffy unattactive beer drinking farlang, it makes no difference to the majority of Thai woman you are simply a farlang and labeled accordingly
English is not my first language and to me if it’s understandable it’s already good. Yes some people have so strong accent that it’s hard to understand, but I still think the English in Asia is easier than the British and Australian. I only had contact with American English so it’s hard to understand some others
Farang come from many different country. Only English speaking countries may look similar. Culture but not the rest in my country you leave home when you married. A d we don't go drinking in bars. 😂😂🎉
My opinion is respect has to come from both sides. But a lot of farangs think they are in the West when they are in Asia and that's not good. Maybe because they have never traveled around the world.
I am happy youtube algorithms suggested Thai Thoughts with Palm channel :) - yeah naturally foreigners have money on vacation as they have saved for that ^_^ - thai woman for sleep lol wtf... it's okay if both are rather awake xD Wouldn't stress too much about stereotypes... they are everywhere and mostly wrong... better go open-minded :)
I’m so glad UA-cam suggested my channel to you! 😊 You’re absolutely right-stereotypes are everywhere, and it’s best to approach things with an open mind. Thanks for the fun comment and for sharing your thoughts! 😄
Exactly correct; stereotypes are just that, only someone's universal perception of a group of people. Every single person is different with different beliefs, personalities, habits, etc. Just remember what Austin Powers father said in 'Goldmember': "There's only two things I hate in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch." (LOL)
Stereotypes have a basis in reality. Otherwise they’d be completely random. You shouldn’t judge the individual by the group but you can be aware that there is an average or disproportionate thing for the group.
With regards to your Stereotypes about some Foreigners I would like to add few points. This is not a criticism but a learning curve and in terms of particle point of views and through my own lenses and from others. And please do not get offended. I am happy to discuss if needed. This is not to target any one from any nationalities. 1. First of all, you have to understand the quality of Foreigners visiting as a tourist. 2. Not many Foreigners visiting Asia/South East Asia are of good characters. They become GENTLEMAN while visiting Asia/South East Asia countries. 3. To some Foreigners their first language is English and this necessarily does not mean that they are well educated, high caliber, better off and of great potential. The only difference is the dollar (US/Canada/Australia/NZ)/pound (GB)/Euro value to the visiting country and becomes cheaper for them to spend a lavish holiday and in terms of cheaper market value. 4. When you go to their home country the so called Foreigners will not even give you a dam shit. The so called Foreigners just keep up to themselves in their own country and when they come to Asia/South East Asia they become soo friendly specially to Asia/South East Asia women's. My Goodness! 5. As you explained in your video Foreigners are independent and live alone. But you have to understand that at the end of the day they want to escape from all responsibilities. Therefore, what an earth they are so caring as most of them leave their old parents at their mercy or at CARE HOMES. And this cycle which goes on and on. 6. Foreigners are non-judgmental that is up to the country they are visiting to. Please come and visit their country then they become soo judgmental with policies, guidance and procedures. 7. Foreigners have Asia/South East Asian girlfriends for to have their favorite pass time/part time relationship. How many of the Foreigners really had a genuine relationship and have taken their girlfriend to their home country and settled in US/UK/EU/Canada/ Australia/NZ?. I bet you. Less than 1%. 8. Taking care does not necessarily mean nice dinner, gifts, flowers or kisses. Foreigners have these things in their DNA for short term to fancy Asia/South East Asian women. But if you ask them to take responsibilities. Then they will take 100 step back. Have a great day! Palm
Any straight man talking to two attractive women on vacation would want to sleep with them, foreigner or not. Whether he makes the attempt is a different question.
We are upfront but Thai are secretive. That's my experience. You never know what they really think because they never respond to a question. That's my experience with Thai women and to be honest i don't like that, just say what you think.
Palm another interesting video. khob khun khrup. when I first started thinking about Thailand I went on Thai friendly. there was a woman there who I was talking to and she was there she told me because her mother was dying and she had no children and her mother wanted her to have someone in her life. she was attractive and worked in the government and I was very interested in talking to her more and meeting her. but she could not overcome the fact that she told me All foreigners thought Thai woman as prostitutes. and that I must feel the same. in her '40s and unmarried with no children she has little chance of finding a Thai man who will love her. I felt sad for her. But moved on. I see many arrogant and rude foreigners in Thailand. sometimes they look like me meaning white Western, and sometimes they look Eastern Asian like Chinese. I love the energy and diversity that is Bangkok but next year we'll be moving out to the provinces and maybe once or twice a year I'll return for a visit. It is natural for me to raise my voice to make myself understood better as that is culture in the West. there's a lot of bad habits denim in the process of relearning. without my wonderful Thai fiance it would be difficult for me to navigate much of Thai culture. I don't like gossip lol but it's human nature. The late question lol.... yeah I can be an issue because we usually plan and that plan revolves around time. and if I'm sitting there thinking I'm supposed to be with someone who's now 1 to 2 hours late but I'm already there... I would only give them one time to do that and that would be the last time. that has to do with respect. if you want me to respect you I require respect in return. and making an effort to show up on time is priority number one I think. with that said I live in Bangkok. it's almost impossible to know what your exact travel time will be. many times I have to wait for three trains to go by before I can squeeze into one. and I'm a big guy. if driving sometimes it's quicker to walk. when I'm just chilling at home waiting for her to show up I don't worry about it. I have plenty to do until she gets there. just don't leave me hanging at a bar or restaurant. I love living here. I love how I feel here. I loved the interactions I have with people here foreign or tao. I do find that I like to be in areas where there are more Thai people. as for how many of those 14 stereotypes I might fit? you would have to ask my girlfriend.😮 congratulations on the growth of your channel. I find it entertaining and educational. Sawatdee khrup

Thank you! I’m glad you’ve found Thailand welcoming. It means a lot that my message is clear to you, your support is truly appreciated!
Your English is very very good. Just forget what silly people say. Nice program
Thanks for your kind word. 😊
Foreigners don't understand how rude it is to visit temples and sacred places dressed like they are strolling down the beach...
Good topic and presented well.
I would say that foreigners, in fact all people are interested in gossip 😅
Thanks! 😊 Haha, you're right, gossip seems to be something that catches everyone’s attention! It’s always interesting to hear the latest stories.
wow, she's describing me too accurately.
🤗👍
You're lucky you can drink so much coffee without getting headaches. My limit is one per day, if I drink more I will have a headache the next day.
Coffee is my fuel! It's tough that too much gives you headaches, but at least one cup a day still lets you enjoy it a little!
Coffee is toxic bean soup, seed water. Better get enough sleep. And eat local fruits and animal products. Drink Coconut water instead. Take care Palm 🌴
Better drink coconut water 🥥 and get enough sleep. Avoid coffee ☕ Take care Palm🌴
Yeah, they probably are ( some of them partially and some of them exaggerated ) but true.
And an idea for a future video: Is the romantic person welcomed or it can be overwhelming.
And how would expect a Thai girl to be taken care of ( beside the financial part ).
Great points, and thanks for the video ideas! 😊🙏
Putting feet on seats is considered very bad manners in the UK too. Women being late is also considered normal. 😁😁
It's always interesting to compare them! Thanks for sharing that! 😄
@@ThaiThoughts The man who propositioned you probably does the same in his own country too. There are men in the UK who ask random women in the street if they will sleep with them. They don't even ask the women to dinner. They have a high rate of success too. 😲
Thai don't like when you give them a hug. Doesn't mean we want someone more it's just being friendly. Nothing more.
being friendly can also mean, respecting people's personal space. That's all
From a Thai woman's perspective, they are programmed and told a farlang is a farlang , there are exceptions, but you can be a smarty dressed presentable foreigner who has adopted thai culture and can speak some Thai, or a scuffy unattactive beer drinking farlang, it makes no difference to the majority of Thai woman you are simply a farlang and labeled accordingly
English is not my first language and to me if it’s understandable it’s already good. Yes some people have so strong accent that it’s hard to understand, but I still think the English in Asia is easier than the British and Australian. I only had contact with American English so it’s hard to understand some others
I completely agree! As long as it's understandable, that's what matters most.
We understand you quite well Palm- and English is not your first language so it was silly for that person to say your English is bad
Thank you for understanding and for your kindness! I appreciate the support-it means a lot. 😊🙏
@ You are very welcome, its my absolute pleasure. I only said what is the truth. 🙏🏽
ur engllish is very good
Thank you so much! 😊🙏
Hi khun Palm
Sawatdee ka 🙏
Drink Tea 😀
Good idea! 😀
Farang come from many different country. Only English speaking countries may look similar. Culture but not the rest in my country you leave home when you married. A d we don't go drinking in bars. 😂😂🎉
Non judgemental, i think that goes more for men. I don't care about if you had a problem. We all have are issues nobody is without problems.
My opinion is respect has to come from both sides. But a lot of farangs think they are in the West when they are in Asia and that's not good. Maybe because they have never traveled around the world.
Your English is better than my Thai
Thank you! I'm still learning, but that's a big compliment. Your Thai might be better than you think! 😊
If you date a lot of Thai women simultaneously a man has got to have a lot of money.
When,,man,,dates,,lots of woman,,they are,,called,,BUTTERFLIES,,by,,Thais,,😅😅😅,,and,,viceversa,,😅😅😅
I am happy youtube algorithms suggested Thai Thoughts with Palm channel :)
- yeah naturally foreigners have money on vacation as they have saved for that ^_^
- thai woman for sleep lol wtf... it's okay if both are rather awake xD
Wouldn't stress too much about stereotypes... they are everywhere and mostly wrong... better go open-minded :)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the laugh Jeff!
Palm
Thank you for sharing your detailed thoughts! I appreciate your perspective and always welcome constructive discussions. Have a great day! 😊🙏
I always give the girls 100 baht in the morning.
I'm sorry you had that experience wth a foreigner. I guess it's not unusual. Sorry again for the idiot!
Thank you for your kind words, and no need to apologize, it’s not your fault! I appreciate your thoughtfulness. 😊
Palm, you are CRANKING out videos! Pace yourself, young lady. 😊
Haha, thank you! I appreciate the encouragement! I'll try to pace myself, but I’m really enjoying creating content for all of you. 😊
@ThaiThoughts We enjoy it too. But don't overwork yourself. There will always he new topics to talk about.
Gossiping is not a Thai thing but rather a woman thing. Women gossip on a global scale.
I do find that I like to be in areas where there are more Thai people.
as for how many of those 14 stereotypes I might fit? you would have to ask my girlfriend.😮
congratulations on the growth of your channel. I find it entertaining and educational.
Sawatdee khrup
Thank you for sharing your story-it’s inspiring to see how much effort you’ve put into understanding Thai culture. Bangkok’s energy is amazing, and moving to the provinces will bring its own charm. I’m glad you have a supportive fiancée to navigate it all. Thank you for your kind words about my channel, khob khun ka! 🙏
Sorry but you have no idea what you are talking about
Palm do you have an Instagram?
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your support and the Super Thanks! 😊 I really appreciate your generosity, it means a lot to me. I'm so glad you're enjoying the content, and your kindness motivates me to keep creating. Thanks again! ❤🙏
