I'm about a hundred and fifty hours in playing (nay, toying) with Satisfactory and still only just starting to get to grips with the very basic elements of automating production. Scaling up these processes and learning how to construct efficient infrastructures are so time-consuming, I'm therefore truly grateful for your well-presented time-saving tips and tricks, especially around the subject of road creation and the use of blueprints, all very much appreciated. 👍
I can't lie, I've come back to this channel after taking a few months break... The quality of your videos has gone up an insane amount and so has your viewership. Should be proud man, it's incredible!
Me too, I was just thinking that. Really enjoyed this video. Channel was recommended by a friend who is new to Satisfactory. I told him I watched a few of your vids when you were just starting out with the game.
When I started playing, I dragged belts for kilometers to get everything I need to my central base. I also used belts like walkways to get over lakes and up cliffs and stuff. Just belts everywhere. Once I unlocked the cars and trains and everything, I was so used to the belts and so intimidated by the idea of removing them and figuring out the new system. So I just ignored them all the way. It's very interesting to see how vehicels can be used and how cool the roads actually look. I haven't played Update 8 yet, but when I return, I will definetly try some of your blueprints and try out the explorer. It looks very fun! Thank you for your detailed explanations of everything and for letting everyone use your blueprints. Your series is making me very excited to get back into this game.
You're the very first video that got recommended on Ytb about satisfactory to me. I clicked on it because it was a new thing on my feed, and because I didn't understood blueprints and nerver bothered to use them. I thought to myself "woaw it's more than an hour long, for a tutorial, that's too much, I'll prolly quit" And I'm halfway through while writing this message; the amount of effort you've put into this tutorial, how you managed to get the flow going, staying interesting, skiping irrelevant moments that others would have kept by lazyness, you sir are admirable. Thank you for your hard work
The whiteboard work is actually SUPER helpful! The big picture planning of logistics and transport is tricky! Thanks for sharing not only your detail how-to but also your overall plan
A bit of a tip about Quartz production: The numbers seem really odd, but 22.5 and 37.5 add up to 60, so a normal Mk1 Miner can supply exactly one silica and one crystal constructor.
That's what I came here to say. He could skip all the overclocking and just run four Constructors per node, producing 75 Quartz Crystal and 45 Silica each
Neat! Just checked it out on the Calculator. It also adds up really nicely for alternate recipes: 2x assemblers making Cheap Silica (@ 11.25x2=22.5) + 1x refinery making Pure Quartz Crystal (@ 67.5), giving a total of 90 input for the three buildings. I'm gonna build them in sets from now on!
@@thelastengineer8633 You're not going to be able to easily split your input according to those numbers, but you don't really need to. It's the whole manifold scenario all over again; you'll oversupply some machines, but once those are full, the remainding items go to the previously undersupplied machines.
My favorite personal blueprint so far I call the kitchen sink, and it's just a 3x4 foundation with a mam, craft bench, equipment bench, and a sink attached to a biomass burner and storage container with a row of ramps to make it technically 4x4 and easy to get on top without worrying about terrain lol I drop it down constantly
You really should shell out the $15-20. This is such a nice game and It's so important to support such studios. Even If you're not totally into the game yet, get it on sale (right now) and give it a try. I bet, it gives you at least 10-15 hours of fun - if it doesn't grab you and pull you into a 300hrs vortex of factory building. It's worth the 15 bucks for exploring the planet alone.
Blueprints are truly revolutionary for Satisfactory. In previous playthroughs I used to burn out quite quickly, because once you've built a nice building for T1 Iron parts, you don't want to repeat all that detailing/design work over and over. Now, the gameplay moves naturally from building spaghetti early game, to consciously designing in the blueprinter, to building larger factories from modules. I do wish they had taken a bit more inspiration from Factorio -- Copy parts existing in the world to a blueprint, and placing "ghosts" regardless of whether you have the materials yet. Still, even as it is, it's amazing.
You are simply amazing! I just made it to the point where I need to setup roads and trains, this is going to be the biggest help. Even the power tower platforms are going to be an amazing help, you rock and one of my favorite creators so far.
great videos, I am absolutely going to take inspiration from your roads! one thing I like to do with quartz is combine the silica and crystals in the same production line. for example, one has 22.5 input so two of those is 45, and the other has 37.5 input, two of those is 75. so all four equals an even 120 belt.
Road variant suggestion: Power towers used as support pillars beneath stacked single lane roads, i.e. a lane in one direction beneath a lane in the opposite direction. Ceiling light on the underside of the top road connected to a street lamp on the top of the top road; that way you'll only have to connect a single street lamp between blueprints. Your initial versions look fantastic! Would it be easier to have the lights integrated into your ramps by default and just delete them , or add them after the fact like you're doing so far?
I finally decided to get this game and do a series on it but wanted to understand the game somewhat before recording or streaming and your videos have helped a ton! Thank you, keep up the amazing work.
If you put the power towers in the middle then you have to make every road wider to accommodate them even if it doesn't have a power tower. So that's a lot of extra material since you don't need a power tower in every segment. By having them off to the side you only have to build the extra supports when you need them.
I love the way you play through, explain and comment the game. I went through the whole playlist in one go,, and I don't even play the game ! Kudos to you !
Really enjoying update 8. Havnt been copying your builds and progression directions as such, but drawing a lot of inspiration and learning some good techniques. Thanks.
I started Satisfactory again a few days ago, my builds are abysmal, Ive just come across you video, had to sub, im 30 minutes in, and you have shown me so much that id no idea of, thanks, now ive got to watch season 8 all through lol, keep up the great work. "Spaghetti belt" thats how I play lol
36:12 One constructor making silica paired with one constructor making quartz crystal uses exactly 60 raw quartz per minute. Because of this I always plan my quartz production in pairs of constructors.
Just came across this video as my yt is starting to fill with satisfactory videos since ive come back to the game. Love the fact that your blueprints are free AND that everything is organized and comes with simple to follow instructions. You've gained a new regular subscriber. Keep up the good work. 👍
Tip a friend passed on to me, when using the zip line you can toggle right-click to activate it and avoid holding left click forever. I played for far too long before he told me 😅 Love the videos!
Just wanted to stop by to say thanks for these videos. I was just getting a little burned out on my current save when I found this series and it has managed to reinvigorate my interest.
DO IT! :P Or wait a little while til I build even more and then you have a lot to follow along to at the same time! (some people have said they have "nothing to do" in the game until they wait for me to progress lol
Not bad. I did the same on my own but my way to fix the incline problems with roads at 20:30 is by using column buffer blueprints and going down the same amount in each blueprint. You basically attach a column support that is as long as your road segment, under the road, and then latch the road blueprint (which should also have a column/support) to the new column you added. It simplifies the job a lot. You can also do this when going up in ramps by adding your new ramping up roads on top of the column buffer I mentioned. With my method, you never have to go down to the ground to 'fix' the problem with extra foundations. I even built on top of the waterfall chasm to the west of the grassy plains!
I have to say thank you so much for not shilling for blueprints. I know other youtubers like to pad their bottom line but the trove you've shared has let me prune some very annoying Discords that I've been held hostage to just for updated files.
I love the great work you did on the blueprints. But somehow i cant make the road sections to snap to each other when standing on one of them. The next one keeps going up one click. Any idea what i'm doing wrong? Ahh, i was to fast with my question. Have to push R and choose blueprint mode
You shouldn't put yourself down about your designs, they are excellent, and most importantly, they are both simple enough to easily understand and comprehend while also demonstrating aspects of how to be creative in the game without a ridiculous time investment. This allows people who don't know to learn, as well as demonstrating the concept to a more accomplished individual so they can take the idea and design it to their own liking. Keep up the awesome work!
Dont know if this is commented on before but if you dont get something usefull out of a harddrive, you can actually just close it down without selecting anything and start the research again.
Here's something interesting that I realized while using the blueprints that you've provided and following along with the series: even though I have not purchased the necessary items from the Awesome Shop, I am able to build things like the Power Tower Support parts, so long as I have the materials...
Hey Darren, a few questions for you 1. How do you stop parachuting mid air? 2. How do you add stamps on the map of your current location without opening the map? 3. How do you paste the settings of a building onto another without clicking E to enter the configuration settings of said building? Loving the vids, they are helping me alot! :)
I think this game is going to be thriving for a long, long time. There's so much potential here, mostly untapped so far, that I hope the developers really take it all the way!
Just went ahead and picked it up on steam sale, found it a few days ago and after binge watching your play through this one is a must - keep up the great work!
Where it comes to aesthetics using conveyor belts, you can organize it by building a tower system with walkways. Small base, and a three by three top for a simple three conveyers side by side and doors to pass through. You can build massive towers as central nodes where different resources come together. Also works great for using tubes to get around across great distances without having to press any keys or use additional tools.
Darren, Is there a way to know what AWESOME Shop items are required for your blueprints? I've been trying to design roads recently but not going to lie, your designs are so good and are going to save me a tonne of time. I really appreciate you giving them away to us for free. Not every content creator does that. I am loving this series. Excited every week. Keep up the phenomenal work!
Hey Darren your explanation on why do roads when you have trains was excellent. Since i just finished a play through and started a new save just when you started this series. My goal for this next playthrough was to set up a better network for local transportation. So when i saw that episode i went back to the first episode and watched them all. Your teaching is excellent, dont sweat the mistakes we have all made plenty of embarassing mistakes. I worked out all the numbers for making rotors and had all the constructors and assemblers all figured out. I belted it up and gave it some power and let it go. Only to find out i was sending ore to the constructors. Oh my what a collossal brain fart. You are doig good brother. 😂
9:37 when it comes to T-junctions or crossroads you can make 'mini roundabouts' instead, (people in the UK definitely know what i mean), this gives a better option for picking a direction for automated vehicles, if there is some traffic. (in my opinion)
hey, darren, loving these vids and your channel; you're quickly becoming one of my favorite creators! I just wanted to give everyone who might not know another quick tip re: your zip lining tip around 18:00: you actually don't even need to hit the space bar! just hold left click and if you need to "jump" around an obstacle like a power pole, just release left click and it jumps for you; just be sure to quickly hold left click again to grab the line on the other side! and you can ajust your trajectory slight with WASD and turning the camera! have fun!
34:34 I used to have to make a long, long pathway just to get to the quarts. Or risk the run-through the cave below those quarts deposits. One thing that I would just love is if the developers allowed the plants to respawn. 1:12:58 I hope you don't put more trucks on that route. Or you will find them headbutting latter. ;)
hello ! i use to descover the game by myself for each milestone and because i know there is a bunch of tutos and videos, once i have understand how the mecanic works, watching your video help me to masterise each Tier ;) thank you very much for sharing your blueprints. I don't have so much time to play so it makes me save a lot !!
9:00 Road Tool Mod lets you just drag out sections of asphalt as a spline with support for curves might be something that can be combined with straight away blueprints to make curves a bit easier. issue would be lining it up with other foundations
I would recommend before each truck stop, and after you have a double storage container and use both belts to feed into the truck stop and pull out of it. This is so as the truck pulls in, all the resources feeding it momentarily pause, but can still fill into the storage bin. Then when the truck leaves both belts feeding in quickly re-fill it full, twice as fast as the one belt feeding the storage bin, so it allows it to catch up and get more items into the truck stop. Same for the other end. Two belts will quickly help unload the truck stop and give it a buffer as one belt empties the container. This tip will apply to trains as well.
Fun fact about long conveyor belts. Those actually work in real life too. It's not at all uncommon to have a belt several kilometers long, while belts over 10 km exist too. Wen you have to transport stuff tens of kilometers, you might consider building a railroad, but it still might not be as economic as a super long belt. If you apply real world practices to Satisfactory, you probably never actually have a valid reason for building a railroad. Then again, aesthetics play a role too, and that's when railroads come in handy.
Bit of a chaotic video! 😆 But it was good to see you covering a lot of different things. I never realised just how important it is to go through the MAM trees as early as possible! Well done on setting up the cool infrastructure!
I love the concept of roads. I always avoided Trucks after a failed attempt way back a few updates ago. I'd always relied on planet wide stacked belts. Will give it a go in 1.0
Fun Fact: You can use the parachute to CLIMB any cliff as long as it has a slight slope. Parachutes can follow the slope of a wall/ledge simply by flying into it
God damn.. I was so proud of finishing a steel setup for 45 beams and 60 pipes per minute that I thought I could finally tackle trucks instead of kilometres of conveyor belts.. Looks like there's still a lot to learn.
What another great and educational video. Thank you! And thanks for posting a link/reference to your website. I could finally solve the mystery of your subtle accent and where you are from. I was tearing my last few strands of hair out trying to place it. Went down a few rabbit holes and followed red herrings. I thought for sure with your insane attention to detail and methodical approach there was some Asian descent in there. When I saw this video and your ‘helpful assistant’ I then switched to you being Swedish, due to your channel logo’s colour scheme and the hint of a crown shape with the ‘W’ over the A. Your occasional use of ‘yeah?’ at the end of sentences also had me in fits trying to place it. I’ve heard that used elsewhere by non-native English peoples (or so I thought) mostly from Continental European or Scandinavian people. But anyway, now it all makes sense. Irish living in the UK. My 3 strands of hair are now safe. Hehe Now my only dilemma is to summon the energy to follow your excellent guides and get off my lazy spaghetti-factory behind. As you were! PS: Get that damn Coffee Cup! You have more then earned it. :)
I found this video helpful, which led me, recently, in creating some similar blueprints; but the jank is making it difficult. I had a hard time making T and Cross sections. I have a hard time placing ramps. Once it's done, it's great and looks great. Just make sure to configure your lights before you save your blueprint 🙄 There is a lack of foundation and ramp pieces, and a lack of decals. I had to improvize and rethink some blueprints to get it to work.
49:00 you are at that location but if I play I get much lag and often my game just freezes not even a crash report does anyone maybe know why this happens
Kinda late but for placing the road ramps going down, I found it's easiest to put 2m foundation ramps going down (the middle of the road) to where you want to end up, then dividing however many ramps by 3. Then place a regular foundation and build the big road ramps up to meet the flat road higher up. Sounds way harder than it is, takes like 3 mins to finish the whole ramp
BTW, the Infinite Nudge mod gives the ability nudge vertically and makes placing the road ramps trivial. No need to manually lay down the platforms manually to create snap points.
another brilliant episodes, have always hated the trucks always waited for trains then covered the map in traintracks! But enjoying following this playthough and actually using the trucks for the first time!! Cant wait to see transport hubs and storage hubs, never had any luck designing them in a way i am happy with!
hey bro thanks for the free blueprints think im still gonna watch all the way through to build them myself for the knowledge and to add any personal bits i'd like to
Awesome blueprints, definitely going to use some of those when I'm ready to do the Update 8 playthrough. I do love my power lines running under the road though, just a habit I've built up from when it was only the ugly power poles, and eventually the vastly superior ceiling nodes that could be stuck below the foundations. But with the arch supports that gives me a whole new idea of straight up running a double support beam with a kind of arching connection below the road but the powercables running between the legs if you will. So now say you have 3 foundations between every support or an uneven number anyway, 1 might be better if you want it to look sturdier though that might look cluttery in my opinion. But uneven support gaps and then in the middle of every support gap you place one of those transport towers I think that'll look pretty cool though I'll see when I get there :p
I dont know but every time i see a sereies of Satitisfactory with you , I undersand more! Newbie like me! :) You explain really well Compared to everyone else i´ve looked at! So Please Dont Stop
If the pylon is going to sit beside the road place the support pillar to align with the wider width rather than central to the road where it'll look offset
I like the 'quick build' factories - maybe stand on a tall building and do a slow pan just so we could see how things are hooked up and general orientation, shouldn't take but a few seconds. Regardless, thanks!
a suggestion have the snap point you make for the slope on the blue print then just delete after instead of adding and deleting on each application of the slope blue print
Yeah I thought about that, but I also feel like the easiest thing to do is just build ramps up, rather than down, where possible, as they just snap fine that way.
50:20 Belts are better in most ways, but they are the worst as far as logistic flexibility goes. It takes the most amount of time for belts to be rerouted to other locations. It is faster to drive a new route for a tractor/truck, and it is even faster to reschedule a train to deliver elsewhere. There's a lot to be said about this topic, and people have all sorts of opinions on which form of logistics is best, but I just wanted to point that out. Belts are nearly perfect, but good luck tearing them down later if you feel the need to do so.
I have 400hrs into the game, I'm unlocking phase 4 of the space elevator and tier 8. I have yet to manage to setup a train or even a tractor setup. My brain glitches, when thinking about it. It's just never as nice as I have seen it online.
In terms of realism, throwing the transmission towers to the side of the road is better imo. I can't speak too much to power infrastructure outside of the US but here, the high voltage transmission lines require quite large easements clear of anything including roads and often ignore the road grid and make essentially straight lines as terrain allows between generating stations and substations, where the voltage is stepped down and you would switch essentially to Satisfactory power poles which DO go along the roadside.
Appreciate your time making this video and the time going over all of the neat new features recently released. I have been gone since update 5 and you have made me want to start a new game ASAP! Love your highways! Maybe show off the future power tower center design idea you were rolling with? Thanks!
Fun fact: You can mine *far* quicker manually, since you can put over 100 portable miners on a single node. Probably of little use outside of a speedrun tactic or a caterium node capped by rocks though.
Don't be a goober like me and build all your blueprints in the designer 2 foundations up. Make sure to build them starting from the ground floor of the BP designer or you're gonna have a bad time like I did. Late to this party, but loving the videos!
I just found your videos and am really loving this series! This series is very much helping me figure how how I will grow past the small little factories I have! Everything is explained so well and it's givibg me some new ideas.
my soul is screaming XD 22.5 quartzcristal and 37.5 silica equals 60 XD so out of 60 quartz you can split it up just fine XD. nice vid man you really helped me out in this game allthough it feels like a dejavu since i stombled across you by watching the manor lords series. keep up the good work my man
Darren, Have you done a video or posted instructions on where your roads are going and what you're transporting? I started watching the next video on huge refineries, and it seems the roads and trucks are already in place and 'doing their thing'.
what u could do whit the roads u build. slam a fule belt below it and then add some trucks stations on the way use them as fule stations where trucks can refule when they drive below them.

Looks like it is still your old version of the road blueprints. I look forward to using the new versions :)
btw, at 20:24 if you hit "R" to toggle between blueprint modes, you can get different snap points. Not sure if that was added in the past 4 months.

I don't really play Satisfactory but I'm loving watching the series.
same here, i really wish they came out with satisfactory on consoles
One needs to have an addictive personality and a modicum of OCD to get the most out of Satisfactory. 😉😆

@Daedalus1701 hell yeah brother! The factory must grow! Best of luck with the rig and on your playthrough of satisfactory
The amount of work you have done with that blueprints are phenomenal, I think it's worth the slight post delay of the video. Amazing work!

OMG, thank you for this!
56:11 "The tractor knows where it is..."
Hello i am qshnx and i am giving in most of darrens satisfactory videos facts! FACT #3 You can give a lizard doggo berries to tame them
You shouldn't put yourself down about your designs, they are excellent, and most importantly, they are both simple enough to easily understand and comprehend while also demonstrating aspects of how to be creative in the game without a ridiculous time investment.
Man the blueprints and documentation you provide for these are so helpful. Really next level attention to detail Cheers
Hey Darren, a few questions for you
1. How do you stop parachuting mid air?
2. How do you add stamps on the map of your current location without opening the map?
3. How do you paste the settings of a building onto another without clicking E to enter the configuration settings of said building?
Loving the vids, they are helping me alot! :)
Its a bit late but for the config you can do control+c in a configured one and paste in the other machines
18:25 You can also just hold shift to sprint down the lines while zipping
been loving the series ! the roads look amazing they really add to the world.
Train blueprints soon
Next videos: Copper | Quartz | Sulfur | Caterium | Iron | Motors | Transport Hub
So... in 7 videos, yes :P
@@WhatDarrenPlays look forward to it, I need to experiment with caterium, left at around update 5 came back update 8 after finding your series
Terry becoming hostile cracked me up
9:37 when it comes to T-junctions or crossroads you can make 'mini roundabouts' instead, (people in the UK definitely know what i mean), this gives a better option for picking a direction for automated vehicles, if there is some traffic.
Then again, aesthetics play a role too, and that's when railroads come in handy.
binged the playlist today and now a new episode 🎉
Bit of a chaotic video! 😆 But it was good to see you covering a lot of different things. I never realised just how important it is to go through the MAM trees as early as possible! Well done on setting up the cool infrastructure!
by any chance you read this how important are road and trucks set up
I love the concept of roads. I always avoided Trucks after a failed attempt way back a few updates ago. I'd always relied on planet wide stacked belts. Will give it a go in 1.0
@7:07, how do you ping like that? I am assuming in multiplayer the other people can see that?
Yep, alt+rightclick
Fun Fact:
You can use the parachute to CLIMB any cliff as long as it has a slight slope. Parachutes can follow the slope of a wall/ledge simply by flying into it
I may or may not have done this many times this episode in secret :P
Hehe
Now my only dilemma is to summon the energy to follow your excellent guides and get off my lazy spaghetti-factory behind. As you were!
PS: Get that damn Coffee Cup! You have more then earned it. :)
It really shows that you work super hard on these videos and they're amazing and you're great
I found this video helpful, which led me, recently, in creating some similar blueprints; but the jank is making it difficult.
Make sure to disconnect the crashed drop pods or they will continue to draw power.
The empty highways feel almost eerie in the way they are.
I can’t seem to get the road height blueprints to connect. The straight roads yes but when changing heights they don’t connect. Great videos.
hey bro thanks for the free blueprints think im still gonna watch all the way through to build them myself for the knowledge and to add any personal bits i'd like to
Awesome blueprints, definitely going to use some of those when I'm ready to do the Update 8 playthrough.
I thought I noticed it earlier in the series, but I heard it for sure this episode and, if I may, the Minecraft music is a nice touch
Yeah I thought about that, but I also feel like the easiest thing to do is just build ramps up, rather than down, where possible, as they just snap fine that way.
dude thank you so much for giving me the road segment idea, im just about to build roads on my world
Well, I’ve learned a few things already. Thanks so much for these videos!
It never crossed my mind to do such a road/ highway, this is so cool!
57:15 Revolt of the Machines🤣
In terms of realism, throwing the transmission towers to the side of the road is better imo. I can't speak too much to power infrastructure outside of the US but here, the high voltage transmission lines require quite large easements clear of anything including roads and often ignore the road grid and make essentially straight lines as terrain allows between generating stations and substations, where the voltage is stepped down and you would switch essentially to Satisfactory power poles which DO go along the roadside.
Love your videos, the moment you started placing the road bps I went and grabbed them.
Rogue Terry absolutely sent me 😂 57:07
Appreciate your time making this video and the time going over all of the neat new features recently released.
Really excited we are getting into the Transport hub side of things!
Don't be a goober like me and build all your blueprints in the designer 2 foundations up. Make sure to build them starting from the ground floor of the BP designer or you're gonna have a bad time like I did.
Late to this party, but loving the videos!
Absolute top tier animation, give that assistant a raise
tractor going straight to you was better than most horror movies lol.
I just found your videos and am really loving this series! This series is very much helping me figure how how I will grow past the small little factories I have! Everything is explained so well and it's givibg me some new ideas.
Can somebody please tell me where to get the planner so you can layout your production from miners through smelter and constructor to assembler.
my soul is screaming XD 22.5 quartzcristal and 37.5 silica equals 60 XD so out of 60 quartz you can split it up just fine XD. nice vid man you really helped me out in this game allthough it feels like a dejavu since i stombled across you by watching the manor lords series. keep up the good work my man
Darren,
Have you done a video or posted instructions on where your roads are going and what you're transporting? I started watching the next video on huge refineries, and it seems the roads and trucks are already in place and 'doing their thing'.
7:39 THAT is a fantastic system.
what u could do whit the roads u build. slam a fule belt below it and then add some trucks stations on the way use them as fule stations where trucks can refule when they drive below them.
I plan to just have a truck that refuels roads by driving to checkpoint locations. In the future drones will deliver the fuel to these checkpoints.
sure thats also an idea i not thought of build gas stations and just let trucks deliver the fule. smart idea saves belt work.@@WhatDarrenPlays
Good video. The power supports I think would look better with a single column support it looks too massive.
