The fact that I can understand both Kratos and Atreus sides shows the great story telling
Because it’s so easy to write a story where only one side is right. Ragnarok is a good example of a story where you know what’s going on in both Kratos and Atreus’ heads. You might agree with one more than the other, but you know it’s not because one is being malicious.
And that a certain someone had spent his time driving a wedge between them helps….
@@matthewriley7826 It's almost as if there's an imposter among us
Lol! Atreus was beyond irrational
@@ninjafrog6966 if Atreus told Kratos, though, what is left of Jötunheim would be in grave danger. Although Atreus did not know it, Odin was in the room disguised as Tyr; if Odin heard who Atreus spoke to, Angrboda & Gryla would end up dead. If not for Atreus wanting Kratos to trust him, they’d be dead for good. Atreus was only a teenager, so fair enough, but his irrationality was enough to keep Angrboda alive.
Mimir getting angry has to be one of the strongest parts of this scene. A fairly jovel head who tryst to be the voice of reason and diplomacy being enraged at the fact Atreus seems to forget that everyone in that room besides him and his father has been greatly wronged by odin.
He may not been wrong by Odin just then but he does have reasons for not trusting him.

1:25 I don't think Mimir is angry, I think he's scared as well. He knows how abusive and manipulative Odin is, and he does not want something like that to happen to Atreus.
The same can be said for Kratos. He knows what it’s like to be manipulated and used by the gods despite his servitude to them and doesn’t want Atreus to go through that
@@Jared98695 Kratos is also worried that Atreus will betray him and become ally of Odin.
Atreus also has a point, though.
He's wanting to stop a war, and he doesn't want his father to die, so he's doing what he can to try and barter peace of sorts.
Plus, while arrogant, I think he knows Kratos has every right to be distrustful of deities.
Also, it's not unfair for him to try and explain things, then get angry when he feels like everyone doesn't see his side. (Even if their right, the others weren't helping the hostile atmosphere.)
But *_EVERYONE_* in the room was right, ultimately.

looking back at the order of things, i understand why sindri was even more mad by the end of the game. every single time, he was the one that suffered, his house under attack, him getting attacked by atreus, risking his life with him each time they went on an adventure, losing his brother and then they just leave after
Especially when sindri brings up the attack atreus then barely acknowledges it and finally not showing up for brok's funeral is probably going to have sindri making double edged weapons knowing that picking fights with kratos is not a option but if kratos and his son wants sindri trust not to complain or find another blacksmith
Kratos has so much self control to not use the Belt of Chaos
Kratos didn't call him Atreus, he called him boy. I think that shows just how pissed he was. In every scene thus far he has called him Atreus, no matter how angry he was.
It also makes sense because it's clear he's living a double life. Living as both Loki and Atreus. Kratos refuses to call him Loki and Atreus refuses to acknowledge him. So he got acknowledged as the only thing that makes sense. Boy.
But it also goes to show that all the respect and trust Kratos had for him went out the window right there.
The fact that Atreus called Kratos an asshole and got away with it was insane lmao

After this scene, I was worried that in the future we’d play as Kratos and see a big boss healthbar appear with the name “Loki”.
I'm glad kratos allowed mimir to voice himself during this conflict. At first I felt like the others might be overstepping but, in a sense they ALL have had experiences regarding Odin and all had a good reason to voice their thoughts. This scene was not only well balanced but absolutely incredible in overstating the importance of atreus making this decision.
As much as it pains me to see them separate like this. This had to happen for a good reason. Atreus did go to Jotunheim and promised Angroboda to never speak of it to anyone, Tyr, Freyja, The Huldra bros, Mimir and not even Kratos. Odin has eyes everywhere and is always closer than you believe...
The craziest thing about this is if Atreus did break the promise to angraboda and told Kratos, or anyone else at sindri’s house Odin, disguised as tyr, would of known and the prophecy might of came true..

When you realize who 'Tyr" really was the whole time, it's actually a good thing that Atreus never mentioned the truth about the Giant's survival. Odin would take the bag of marbles and "misplace" them the first chance he got. He'd just ask Atreus for them and the boy would have no reason to deny him, because he was the one who chose to rescue him. By keeping everything a secret, he got a huge yelling from his dad, but saved what was left of his race.
Which is a saving grace, tbh; without that, Angrboda & Grýla would’ve both died, thus causing ALL of the Jotün except for Atreus to go extinct.

The plot, cinematography and graphics in God of War's Norse mythology series are world-class. Much better than the first three games. I'd be surprised if this game doesn't become the game of the year
Oh gee I wonder why? Maybe because the first three games are hack and slash games as opposed to third person cinematic action adventure?
My point is - why bother comparing the Norse games to the Greek ones? They are completely different in how they play and the stories they tell; all just as incredible as the other, but in different ways.
Mate... This game came out never the end of 2022.
The first three came out millennium ago, obviously the graphics would improve.
Eh, story-wise I find both sagas about on par with each other, but for different reasons.
With the Olympus saga, we got to see a tale of a young(ish) man hellbent on revenge, and how said revenge destroyed everything around him while also still leaving him broken. We got to see how broken Kratos was over losing his family, and watched him destroy the rest of it because he was lost in that pain.
With the Norse saga, we get to see that broken man now older & a tad wiser, struggling to find peace as well as to end the cycle of generational trauma that lead to his own downward spiral. He's gotten a second chance at family, and is doing his best to hold onto it.
Both sagas have their flaws where the actual execution of the story's concerned, but those flaws are minor (especially with the Norse saga since so far it's only 2 games).
Both are also filled to the brim with emotion, just different kinds of emotion. They're both hack-slashers, but the Olympus saga's focus on rage can sometimes make that seem like it's just brainless slashing through enemies, while the Norse saga's focus on the struggle for inner peace can distract from the fact that you're still clearing through waves of enemies.
The plot It's debatable
2018 was great but the old games were better
I feel the pressure on Atreus. He wants to decide his own fate and do the right thing but everybody is putting pressure on him because they think he can't tell what's right and what's not and to makes things worse he's already under pressure, frustrated and everybody is kinda yelling at him. Yes what he's doing is dangerous but sometimes there's no other option and risks must be taken. It's like you want to do the job you have passion about it but parents or others say no because they think it's not good for the reasons they have
Lmao yea, the number of idiots in these comments who are siding with the rest of them rather than trying to see Atreus's point of view. He is part Giant. That's not a part of himself that he can run away from. If Faye did not want Atreus to know that, then she would have never sent them on that journey. She would have never called Atreus "Loki" when speaking to the other Giants if she did not want him to consider embracing that part of himself.
Kratos (and the others, to some extent) were trying to restrain him. Of course he'll make mistakes. That's how one learns. Some mistakes are costly and some are extremely regrettable. That's just how life is at times and you can warn people about the consequences of their actions but it is ultimately their choice.
The game developers knew exactly what they were doing when they sent Kratos and Freya to the Norns; the both of them needed to understand that Atreus wasn't the one who fucked up extremely hard by going to Asgard. The both of them were the ones who had fucked shit up the most.
@@mousedorff453 I agree. What you said is right. The reason I wrote the comment is because I'm in a similar situation. I want to do what I think is right and persue my goals but my mom, aunt and brother have other plans because they think their right and maybe they are but I listened enough and I want to go on my own path
For the most part yes, they are right. Atreus shouldnt go to Asgard and meet with Odin because there's nothing he can gain from that at all. Time and time again, Atreus heard the stories and even SEE the results of Odins evil deeds. Mimir would've still have his body, Freya would still be a strong Vanir goddess and protect her own people, and Tyr wouldnt be the way he is if it wasnt of Odin, that enough should be signs that just being near Odin is not good at all since he has so many tricks and ways to manipulate people, if he can manipulate gods what makes you think he couldnt do the same to a naive teenager who just hit puberty. Yes Atreus will eventually know the truth but he just makes things worse for everyone else. In fact if it wasnt for Atreus maybe Brok would still be alive. The problem with Atreus is he keeps making hasty decisions and not think about the consequences what would happen if he did something.
@@socriabbas454 You're right but like Mimir said "the laid has to make a few mistakes of his own". We all do mistakes despite people around us telling that what we're doing is wrong or dangerous and they may be right. Sometimes people don't listen and want to do what they think is right and that's the thing. If you think something's right then do it and you will see the effects which either can be good or bad. Yes Brok died but there will always be casualties, hard feelings, broken relationships and sacrifices in order to reach the goal. Everything happend so they could win which was the ultimate goal and if Atreus didn't do what he did maybe they would've lost
And i guess disrespect is the Hallmark of success in that regard to you?
Hes a teenager. He wasnt even Kratos’s age in the original God Of War or Chains of Olympus for that matter. He isnt applying for a job, hes not even an adult. His lack of maturity is what is on display here. His moral compass is still immature and everyone is aware of it except him.
You are SHOWN the effects of joining this Gang, you are SHOWN what theyve done and the destruction theyve caused. But you still think you should go to their territory because “reasons”. Wild. But what can I say? He goes to Asgard and gets manipulated by Odin ANYWAY. So Lesson learned.

Hey guys if you didn’t notice but the little detail at 1:40 look closely at Tyr he smiles after Mimir says Odin did this to us. He almost turns away but goes back into character
dam
The devs did a great job making the game realistic
You could see this scene was coming ever since Odin and Thor visited. They all talked about Odin messing with minds but when you think about it, he messed with Kratos more than he messed with Atreus. He planted those seeds of doubt and distrust. You could see even when Atreus said he turned Odin down that he didn’t believe him. He spent the whole trip to finding Tyr going along with it but even Atreus could sense he was just humoring him. He wasn’t listening. I don’t think Atreus had any intention of going to Odin in the beginning. But Kratos basically shoved him into his arms. Not to say Atreus wasn’t wrong. Sneaking off and keeping secrets didn’t work to dispel Kratos’ concerns. He should have told Kratos what he’d been up to at the before Odin came but he also knew Kratos would have told him to stop because of his overprotectiveness. Mimir told Kratos he had to loosen the chains a bit or he would push Atreus away. This is the consequences of not doing that. Didn’t help that everyone decided to pile on Atreus at the same time.
But didn't Angrboda tell Atreus to keep the secret of Ironwood even from Kratos. Part of me is thinking she knew Odin was Tyr all along

There not in a war and who is hiding things from him except kratos hiding that he will die
Idk man Atreus just began taking impulsive decisions.
Atreaus doesn’t understand that he’s causing more problems than solutions
That does not give him the right to disrespect sindri by hitting him and disrespecting his dad. Kids today don't know the whoopings others use to get for talking back to parents.
@@christianhenry4173 Faacts just by saying “Why” would b an asswhooping
2:22 Atreus was THIS close to having a red x appear over his head 😂
I love how Kratos pulls Mimir's head off his hip to let him be part of conversation. That's quite a development from previous game where Kratos was like "Stay out of my business head". Guess they are indeed brothers now and Atreus got an uncle.
Atreus gonna get the hands of fate if he keep playing 😂
Belts of chaos about to be unleashed.
1:31 just by looking at it, it really hit me cause i remember as a teen everyone in the family would always go against me or wouldn't have faith in me
Dude I feel the same way
2:22 Kratos was ready to use the belt of Olympus
2:22 I could FEEL a belt behind that ‘BOY!’
Someone said: "Kratos is about to unlock the Belt of Chaos."
I'd be scared shitless if I was Atreus and I heard that "BOY!" coming from Kratos... It's either escape or that Belt of Chaos
i like how kratos makes sure mimir is always part of the conversation now. like, he always picks his head up off his belt when he speaks, unless he's busy
if I ever heard that word from kratos outside my house. *"BOY!!"*
I'd lose it
Let's not forget that sindri was literally losing his cool with atreus at that moment before broks death
2:23 the usual thing for a father when we made something bad
he do nothing bad here he was trying to tell his son that odin was a trickster even his wife freya is telling him that he need to chill
After that, the belts of chaos and being grounded or doing extra yard work with the dwarves 😆
That "BOY" was delivered with the same energy as a parent calling a child by their middle name.
Atreus always learns from his mistake and this won't be any different he will learn a valuable lesson
1:19 "tyr":i only cloud your mind
Imagine he said this and everyone started looking at him 😂
1:03 love how Odin enters the scene literally stirring the pot whilst watching these two argue due to his manipulations
That's clever
Yep he was literally and figuratively stirring the pot.
I love how this scene is basically a family drama. Atreus the rebellious teen making a commotion in the house, the rest of the family members gathering up to see what's up, the others disagreeing what the teen wants.
0:42 if Freya heard him say that she would've slapped him
No she wouldn’t.
0:40 hell no way , he called KRATOS asshole , the god of war , if he legit knew who is kratos , he wouldnt even raise his voice and bruv am so surprised , kratos said nothing .
he would have known who Kratos was if he didn't hide things from Atreus 💀
Am I the only one that laughed when brok yelled “WHAT THE FUCK” 😂
I died😂😂
@@PgLangGang Yeah? So did Brok ;(
What I love about this story is that you can understand where both atreus and kratos are coming from. Kratos has set the stage of lying to atreus so atreus calling him out on was actually good. Kratos slighty gaslit atreus in this scene also. Pretty much atreus just wants answers, having a stern father who kept most of his secrets didn’t help his development at all. At the same time kratos just wants the best for atreus and he is trying to be a better parent and a better person. He is trying to fight his nature and nuture. Kratos really has a hard time of being compassionate and it strains his relationship with his son.
