The mg is pretty good for how old it is. Like it does everything you'd want a guncannon to do, and has the core fighter or core block options... oh and hand grenades... guncannon is probably my favorite feddy grunt, it's a perfect chunky support unit
I feel a certain sweet nostalgia for the guncannon, but I find it's the "station wagon" of mobile suits and not too glamorous or sexy. And what's with the name, is it a gun or a cannon? Really nice kit!
Timely! I just picked this up at the store. Honestly it really bummed me out how the Guncannon got chumped in Cucuruz, and I thought long and hard about whether to get this or the Revive version, but this is just a flat out neat looking redesign. I'll just think of it as the Origin manga version. I needed a Guncannon in my life. Maybe get the revive later.
I had a bad luck on my copy of this kit. I found out that one of the runners have a defect and totally missing the wrist part( looks like the molding process error). Now I have a Origin Guncannon without a right hand.
I believe the chest can bend back even more than you showed to replicate the laying on the ground poses. There should be a little section in the instructions showing it.
@@bitetheaspI’m pretty sure that an rg Gouf was being thought of until it was ultimately cancelled due to low sales of the rg z’gok. I think the Gouf is a cooler design than the z’gok so I’m sure it would sell well if Bandai made an rg
@@bitetheasp Well, on the bright side, if they were made back then, they would most likely be using the pre-molded inner and it would make them pretty unstable so, if they made them now, they would probably be sturdy kits. We have the rg zeong already so, Keep them coming, Bandai!
I have 2 versions of the MG Guncannon, the 30th anniversary version with clear armor parts in the box, and a bluefin reissue. It builds a lot like the old MG Gundam 1.5, there's a couple screws and some bad seams as usual for a kit from 2001
I have to keep mentioning this whenever RGs are mentioned but based on the trend Bandai will NOT be making an RG Guncannon. Look at the list of RGs. Notice anything? It's all MAIN PROTAGONIST and MAIN ANTAGONIST mobilesuits only. The only time variations are made for mass production colors or special colors are only if they exist from the first RG variant that is made for the main antagonist or protagonist. Okay there IS one RG that doesnt fit this trend. Thats the Skygrasper. But look at the list of regular releases and see what I mean. Until Bandai breaks that trend, I will keep telling this to people whenever someone mentions that they want an RG Jegan or something.
Still prefer the revive, I think it nails the look the best. This is great too though especially for the piston detail on the cannons that hold them up, i just dont like the random gundam chin they stuck on it lol (same as the other Origin Guncannons)
MG Guncannon isn't a bad kit for how old it is. It's got some articulation issues and a seam or two, but not the worst I've seen. I'm enough of a fan to still want a 2.0, but it doesn't take too much work for it to look decent next to other MGs from the OG series.
The Master Grade is a pretty decent kit, comparable to both the Guntank and Gundam 2.0. I guess my only real nitpick about it is that it doesn't have the modularity it did with both the Guntank and the 2.0, but that's because the Guncannon was a more older kit, using the same technology as the 1.5/OYW ver.
What caught my eye is that the feet don't match the color scheme of the Guncannon it's plain grey color. In comparison The Origin version of the feet match the color scheme.
I just built the kit last night, both backpacks use the standard two peg setup for backpacks, so should be compatible with most HG kits barring any clearance issues with different armors
The original HGUC 01 Guncannon has both the Spray Missile Launcher and the cannons. The Gundam Operation V three pack has the same Guncannon and accessories. The Revive only has the cannons, but the P-Bandai Real Type colors has the Spray Missile Launcher and it has the Revive body. I wish that the standard Revive release had had both accessories, but that’s Bandai for you.😢

The Revive Guncannon doesn't have the spray missle launchers. You're probably thinking of the OG HG kit.
IIRC you'd have to buy the p-bandai real type guncannon if you want revive-compatible spray missile launchers.

and the only Guntank in origin is the one that already has a model kit anyway

Probably none if I remember correctly. The revive has like 3 runners and some polycaps I think.
