- When it comes to keeping your eyes protected during April 8's total solar eclipse, regular sunglasses won't cut it. Here's how to check if your eclipse glasses are legit.

I smell lawsuit , glasses from 2017 won't be fine. they told you to discard it after 3 years
I read similarly
Perhaps, unless they just tell you that to sell you more
Lawsuits by blind people
Maybe its said because people wont take care of it
My eclipse glasses have an expiration date too.
I used my 2017 glasses but it said “do not use after 3 years” so idk
The one time there’s a solar eclipse it’s a cloudy day…
(and it's raining...)
Mine says that the glasses last for 3 years
Get new ones
Mine expire too!! I thought that was strange but better safe than sorry! I got new ones for this year.

That wasn’t the point of his comment. Watch the video again. :)
I bet it was just so they could sell you another pair

My glasses have ISO and I warned my friends!
Just put water on a bucket and aim it in the solar eclipse and just look at on the water to see the eclipse 😂
Did it work?
Just like putting a mirror to the eclipse in looking at it will destroy your eyes
Is it okay too look at it for like half a second cause my glasses almost felt while looking at it or am I gonna go blind ?
Can you still see? If so, you are probably alright!
I went and tried it and it was beautiful
🤩
I didn't see the one in 2017, but mine in 2024 says it only lasts 10 years
ME TOO :0
There like vapes give it a couple of years and they'll realize the glasses are bad😂
Look at the ground shadows and you will see it
you can also use a welders mask
Only if the shade number is high enough please be specific or people could go blind on your advice.
@@iSheree wasn’t my advice. If you listen to some random person on the internet which doesn’t give an ISO approval, then you probably shouldn’t listen
@@iSheree
Exactly!! This was very irresponsible advice.
@@akaxjugo9414 this is very irresponsible advice, if a welder saw this and tried this and the shade number was not high enough, he could have went blind and would;d have to quit welding
Thank you 😊
I have one of those and I’m looking at it right now
It cooll

Ok but what brand?
The brands on the websites listed on this video

@@gjp373Ok but what video?
Who would sell a counterfeit one 🥺
CHINAMAZON
Aholes.
Bro doesn’t know the real world
Some idiot in NYC was caught selling 500 pairs it was on inside edition tonight
@@michaels999dont trust made in china glasses, only trust made in usa glasses
I cant see through them at all
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Uh i got it from school
This os the best
Just blink very fast and you can save $2.
nah, you may not blink fast enough or it may not work and you'd go blind
This is absurd
I'm kind of scared for it. Someone I know bought glasses and they look legit but they do not. You can't see anything when you put them on but they have drawings on them and say "NASA approved". It also does not say the brand. It just says "made in china". I don't want anyone I know to get hurt so does anyone know if there's any other way to check if their legit?
I would like to know this as well. I got them from a store it says “Distributed by Major Trading INC made in China” but it says ISO approved and it doesn’t say nothing about Nasa and I tested them and they seem fine. The distributor isn’t on the website but the website said that dont mean they are not safe. I am still paranoid about it though.
@@yelrahkcorb I might just use the pinhole method instead to see it, since you are not looking directly at it. It's pretty simple to make.
@@yelrahkcorb I found an article that says: “Until recently, the only counterfeit products we knew of were cardboard-frame eclipse glasses made by an unidentified factory in China but printed with ‘Mfg. by: American Paper Optics’ (APO) on them,” the AAS shared in a news release. “APO is one of the major U.S. manufacturers of safe solar viewers and prints its name and address on its eclipse glasses, whereas the Chinese copycat products have APO’s name but not its address. Thankfully, these particular counterfeits appear to be safe.”
if they don't cover the top and bottom field of view is it dangerous? I'm worried that if I don't look directly at the sun it will get in my eye when I'm looking up or fown
If you’re scared of that then hold the glasses closer to your eyes so there’s less entry
This comment bewilders me. On any other day are you also scared that the sun's rays are going to damage your eyes when you're outside and looking around? Ignoring the fact that your pupils will be expanded more during an eclipse because of less visible light, you do realize that eclipses produce the same amount of UV rays as a normal day, right? It's not somehow more dangerous because it's an eclipse lol.
@@zants_ I'm just concerned that if my pupils are expanded looking away from the sun and some rays catch in my eye I could risk damage. Is it that hard for you to understand that any chance of going blind is terrifying?
I do agree you have every right to get concerned because it is not a regular phenomenon which happens frequently. Note that during the normal sun when you look at it pupil contracts but in case of eclipse due to darker sun it rather expands ends up consuming dangerous amount of uv rays (our eyes gets fooled) however in your case looking up or down should not hurt I hope. It is always direct looking that's risky.
@@SarabYYZ thank you that makes sense now
