As a neuroscientist currently studying to be a neurosurgeon, this is especially exciting to me, though I most definitely wish that this technology was being developed by anyone other than the people who quite literally own the entire world and at times (or if you’re blackrock it’s pretty much all the time) do not have humanity’s best interests at heart and are not afraid to do highly unethical things to gain more power.

It doesn't even need to transmit anything to hijack things with new code, you just need to find some kind of bug to make it go haywire with some interference or input for it to become dangerous. If some dangerous bug is found you'll now have to hope to get some tech support which may very well not be accessible or not exist anymore as is already the case with some implant aids that were discontinued before.

Elon Musk unintentionally (probably) just created a new field of Psychology. In the future, a special sub-field of Psychology will be needed to help people deal with the psychological issues associated with having a neural implant, such as feelings of de-humanization, alienation from other humans who have no implants, etc. The list of possible psychological issues is endless. I predict this new field will be called "Cyborg Psychology". By the way, I am a psychologist, and my field is Cognitive Neuroscience, with a specialization in visual-spatial processing.
