Of all of the Italy rehab UA-cam channels your property is the most compelling. It's a dream property. Keep up the good work, we look forward to every new drop.
I hope he comes back soon as well… He seem like he was coming around…🙏 The vanity that turned out absolutely splendid… Never did I think such a red bench would look so phenomenal well done….❤
... the little red table is sweet; it turned out beautifully. You both work so hard but I see it as a labor of love. Continued success; can't wait for the next "episode". God bless.
We hope so too! It feels like giving new life to things fits the spirit of this house, where for decades things have been used and reused and recycled. :-)
A suggestion... Move the compost bins away from buildings...mice and rats will always be in compost....so away from buildings is best :). You're doing good work!!
There’s always a sense of calm around your video. A sense of quiet contemplation. The vanity unit looks so good, as you say it works so well! The elder should provide plenty of flowers for the bees, or elder flower champagne! The berries make a great syrup for treating sore throats and a tonic for shortening the length of a cold. Plus a very acceptable elderflower wine. Any left over the birds will relish, though make sure you have no washing on the line as the result is stained washing. If you follow my thoughts! Hopefully the snow doesn’t hang around too long, just when we all thought spring was just around the corner. Have a good week, look forward to next weeks episode.❤
What a wonderful video this week. It’s nice to see thing’s beginning to bloom. Then the blossoms peeking out of the snow. The bathroom vanity is perfect! And the way you set up the big stone container by the steps with the old wine bottles is lovely. I imagine Velvet will return with better weather cat’s know where there is good food. And if he’s a tomcat he will always wander looking for females.
Your lilacs are budding!!! Yay! Back in the way back machine, those green bottles would be hung with bulbs as light fixtures - a thought. I took a big bottle and filled it with little twinkle lights and used it on the floor in the corner of a room. About the bathroom table...yes, when you least expect it!! That's when the Universe provides. 😊
I love the pantry and the new seating area, also the bathroom cabinet. You’re doing great work with Velluto, he’s very handsome, I hope he’s back with you now x
You are working your way into Velluto's heart. The fact that he washes his face in front of you shows he is fairly relaxed. Great to see. That new sitting corner area, I can just imagine Velluto on your lap, enjoying that break with you. Do you have a plan for so many Elderflower plants? I know cordial and wine can be made from them. You work well as a team, The bathroom vanity is a case in point. Being so high, I am sure winter will drag out for you a bit longer. Mind you Martijn Doolaard lives a bit higher again. Have you seen his vlog? He is renovating two old stone cabins somewhere in the mountains of Italy. Best wishes.
the main goal of the elder is to create a barrier between the footpath and our garden, but we're looking forward to making yummy things from the blossoms and fruits. ☺️
When I saw that sink table I told myself "Bertus, I'll take care of that for you, go find something else to do". I've been re-purposing a lot of furniture in my shop lately. 😊
I hate using the over-used term "awesome" but here I go! Awesome. I love the care with which you have created all the bits-and-pieces of your lovely bath. That table is perfect. I am so grateful for the subtle color usage. I am in awe of your care and detail but THIS is what makes a house a home. See you soon. Velluto will one day decide you are "safe" parents.
I love your honesty in following your dream by moving to Italy. The houses are very beautiful and most of all I love the quiet of the surroundings; Hepatica nobilis and fire salamander. I see the eagerness of Isis to do gardening work and recognize myself in this. To add plants to enhance the beauty of your surroundings and wild life. Lovely to see and exciting too ❤ best of luck with your projects and future business. Greetings from an ecological gardener in the Netherlands
I was in the Netherlands last week.. and learnt this phrase "We zullen dat varkentje wel even wassen". Thats you two! Wonderful film as always and a new definition of 'Vanity Project'.
Thank you for this lovely vlog! I am enjoying your journey as you renovate your home. It is beautifully situated. Can’t wait to see all your hard work accomplished and for you to sit back and enjoy
Loved the video! Always good to see you two working on your projects together, and the end results are great! We had snow today to, which at my home never lasts very long, want to keep seeing the Daffodils! SW Washington State.
Bertus, nice project reconditioning the old table!....you may want to look into some Japanese hand saws for cutting intricate and delicate joints/corners. I believe you will love them.🤔😃
Beautiful finished result on the undersink table....also beautiful how you seamlessly share the craftswork processes in the restoration of the piece....= Simpatico!❤🙏
Some of that straw from horse barn clean out would make excellent mulch for you young hedge plants and even the lilacs you planted. it isn't too late to retrieve some of it from compost bins to use as mulch.... old cardboard boxes can be cut down and shaped for mulching hedge row plants to keep moisture in, prevent evaporation and weed growth near the tender seedlings. Cut cardboard into disks or squares, make a slit to center with small area in center removed of cardboard to allow seedling stems to protrude.. If you do 2 such mulch discs you can arrange for slits to not overlap, thus preventing weeds from growing too close to new seedlings. It will probably take a growing season for cardboard to rot down, which allows a nice period of time for the tender seedlings to become established. The cardboard will also shade root area against extreme heat in your hot dry summers to promote development.
Liked your videos from the beginning, but they are becoming better and better ... very, very close to Martjin D’s storytelling and filming qualities (and still your very much unique style) 🙏✨🤍
Spring is still fighting winter, but warm days are getting closer. The washbasin cabinet went perfectly, you created a very nice piece of furniture from an unattractive red one. I haven't caught up with all the episodes so I don't know if that's your cat? If not and he comes back a good method for friendship is food (he already has that) and play, just a twig with a string or ribbon tied to it and the cat will start to get interested and slowly play( I have 7 cats, rescued from homelessness and every one of them loves play). I hope that nothing bad will happen to the cat from martens, foxes, birds of prey and stray dogs, because the cat is very cute and you can see that it feels safe with you otherwise it would not roam so freely. See you next week.
I am enjoying viewing your clever DVDs. I envy you the farm but my time for that type of project is past. The surrounds wildlife and the PC Veluto all add wonderful texture to your life. I plan to retire to Italy in May 2025. I’m looking at Abruzzo where I have the choice of mountains and seaside. Keep up the wonderful DVDs. Greetings from Adelaide South Australia. Yes we do have kangaroos.
Thank you both for seeing the value in the little red table. You saved it and gave it new life, love that! Also thanks ou for naming the plants and the salamander. Hope the primroses and the blooming liverwort make it through the snow!
The vanity project turned out beautifully, I did not think that red object could be turned into something so pretty and practical. You both did a fantastic job on it. I hope the cat comes back, looks like he was coming round to you. I loved the shots of the fog/mist and the flowers on the bushes and trees showing their beautiful colours against the fog/mist absolutely stunning. Another lovely video. Bedankt.
Thank you so much! It feels like giving new life to things fits the spirit of this house, where for decades things have been used and reused and recycled. :-)
Dat tafeltje is hardstikke leuk geworden. En het mooie eraan is dat jullie er echt samen aan gewerkt hebben. Ik denk dat jullie er veel plezier van zullen hebben.
The blossoms are also on our trees but instead of what looks like a crabapple, with those dark pink flowers, we have Red Buds, which produce no fruit but are a fast growing tree for shade. I do envy all your canning and bottling supplies and your cool storage for food. Thank you for sharing your lovely lives with us.

Maybe a visit to a mercatina? (Sp?) looking for pearl earrings! Also worth mentioning is the child’s straw/cane chair; it could be restrung to hold cane or straw baskets? Your new outdoor sitting area is very cool. I thought the big tub was for a pot plant at first, but do prefer the table. A beautiful breakfast spot in the summer. we'll definitely weave a new seat for the children's chair sometime (but probably not too soon 😅). and who knows we might make our own twist on a few other artworks 😉
love that your imagination took a little leap with you there. apparently there's also an ancient rune sign that looks the same and that is supposed to have been used by witches. so i allowed my own imagination to run a little wild too 😅
Italy has a number of regions full of abandoned homes, villages, towns even, in various regions. A Dutch "homestadter" is rennovating small stone buildings near the Dolimites, I believe and I've seen UA-cam of abandoned areas in the very South, near the boot. An Englishman is restoring another property near the Adriatic coast. I'm following similar efforts in France.
I'm sure Velluto will be back, he's probably hanging out with a female. 😊. Beautiful craftsmanship in all that you do, including the filmmaking. Thank You for sharing this ❤
Ciao, siete molto educati, carini e bravi, e questo e molto bello. Vi seguo da poco e mi sono appassionato al progetto che avete intrapreso. Complimenti e Auguri dalle Dolomiti. 👍
Just a idea 💡. Why don't you mount that circle lid above where you where sitting. Paint it the same colour as the door and plant lavender in the big massive pot. Love the green bottles. I would give my 2 front teeth to have stunning bottles like those. ❤
The stables look amazing!! Love the little sitting area with the wine press table. You guys are so creative and we love watching as you slowly bring life into your cascina. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦🫶
That table came real nice! Somewhat funny that I'd always choose sure twice or 3 timer wider brush when I paint anything! That heavy peace table, do not think water seeps inside the bowl and starts slowly smell? Your filming comes better all the time.

I wonder if an Italian cat understands Dutch? I wonder the same thing about birds. If Danish bird meets a French bird of the same species, do they understand each other?😊
I suspect they were for brandied fruit, but might have been used for sauerkraut too (not sure if that's a thing in the northern parts of Italy - I haven't yet seen in anywhere). I'd have to ask some of the older people in the village one time.

Is your little cat sleeping in the little shelter you made?
we think he slept there only once or twice. he seems still a little scared to.
⭐️👏👍🍀💐
I wonder if an Italian cat understands Dutch? I wonder the same thing about birds. If Danish bird meets a French bird of the same species, do they understand each other?😊
♥️😊🇧🇪
At 6:13, I grew up using those ground cylinder jars for making sauerkraut or brandied fruit...are they intended for the same use in Europe?
I suspect they were for brandied fruit, but might have been used for sauerkraut too (not sure if that's a thing in the northern parts of Italy - I haven't yet seen in anywhere). I'd have to ask some of the older people in the village one time.
