Paul and Ancila: Annie is a CONTRALTO voice, 1 of the voices more associated with Gospel, Soul or Blues...
Annie Lennox has one of those voices that are singular, unique - you know its her when you hear it. But I also want to point out her guitarist/producer Dave Stewart. During this phase of their careers he had to be one of the hardest working individuals in the business, literally flying all over the world on a series of projects on into the 90s. Prolific dude.
Annie Lennox... A legendary voice and Dave Stewart, a brilliant songwriter & producer.
By far, the best Eurythmics song ever! Love the video. Annie in her little black dress.....
She has grit, passion, and style. She could have chosen any genre to sing, but, she gave us Rock& Roll!!! I love your music as much today as I did when you first introduced us to the Eurhythmics. I love it all!
How epic is the bass player in this song!!!!
Who wouldn't get that song on & let it rip. I do I'm 72 i love my music ❤
I so agree 💯
Her look is timeless. You'd never know this video came out in the 80s
Remember when MTV was. ALL VIDEOS ALL DAY
Me too dude....me too😞
Yes loved it. When it was worth watching
Good ol days!
Yea we had it on 24/7 in my house with my brother and sister bringing in all their burn out friends. I also listened to our new wave station, WLIR all day. It was heaven everyday
I was there at my job at Pacific Stereo when MTV debuted..WE had 30 TVs turned on to the same channel..IT WAS FUCKING EPIC!!!
WHAT HAVE AYE LIED ABOUT??? SO THEN IT STANDS TO SHOW AYE WOULDN’T START NOW… BEING THAT WE ARE CREATURES OF HABIT AND ALL
The raw energy of Annie is fantastic. Love Dave's guitar 🎸 playing, horn section and their backup singers are great. To say nothing of her kicking her lowlife b/f to the curb. Excellent job!
This performance grabbed and elated me just like it did in the 80's. Still holds up.. Still got JUICE
She gives me goosebumps every time I hear her sing. ❤
Who doesn’t love Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart? 🙌🏾👍🏾
2024 and this still slaps
Fuck yes it does.
when Annie walks out onto that stage, SHE OWNS IT!!!! and everybody in that room...what a woman!!!!
Annie Lennox legend of a voice .
Annie Lennox can really belt them out!
One of the greatest songs from the 80s. Still sounds awesome 40 years later!
One of the most productive bands in the 1980s. They realised magnificent albums practically every year back in the 80s.
If that powerful voice and the talent don't knock you over, that gorgeous face and body will! Annie is a one and only original, a True Rock Goddess!
Simply put one of the greatest of all-time no doubt about that
love the female backup vocals singing like The supremes
Very correct.
First time I heard this song I didn’t quite get it. The harmonies she uses in the backing tracks were so unusual. Way more dramatic than normal harmonies. Now I see how powerful they were. This is an iconic kick-ass “fuck-you I’m outta here” rock song.
Claud Whissery That's what made the song!
I think I'm in love with the girl in the center. When she slapped her thighs and starts grooving at 1:16 that was it, I'm smitten.
Lalake sa septic tank awesome
Friday Night Videos, Commodore 64, Saturday morning cartoons, my dirt bike, and amazing songs like this to provide the soundtrack to my childhood. Folks, it was THAT good!!
Gen X forever, millennials never! \m/
Wow mentioning Friday Night Videos! Does that bring back fond memories.
philaman1972 I still have my Commodore 64. Would spend hours on that thing, but with no internet I can't remember what I was doing while on it. I do remember buying a baud modem so that I could communicate with my friend 250 miles away.
I don't think many people remember Friday Night Videos. I always stayed up to watch. I had an Amiga 500.
philaman1972 yeah
Summer of 1985. Such a great song for that summer...
The first single I ever bought back in 1983. I think it cost me 55p. Then I fell in love with Annie and Dave and everything they have done since. Annie is untouchable, always coming from another place you could never pin her down. Few others from that era: Kate Bush, Cyndi Lauper.
Absolute power. Annie truly is a master of her art. All voice and no auto tune to be found anywhere. All female singers today should bow down to her.
