I saw Metallica in 1997 in Memphis. Met the band. I was on the barricade, not 6 feet from the stage. The lead singer, James Hetfield jumped down and handed me the pick he played "Nothing Else Matters" with....right after the solo and just at the crescendo to the song. That was over 20 years ago and I still remember that just like it happened yesterday. Long time Metallica fan here. "Fade to Black" is one of my favorites.
Kirk has some haters, but I think it stems from jealousy. To me, Kirk is the greatest guitarist alive. Sure, Eddie Van Halen and Joe Satriani and many others are better from a technical standpoint, but I'd rather LISTEN to Kirk than anyone else. His playing touches your soul

I've been to 5 'Tallica concerts. Number 6 is coming in October! You have to see metallica live, they are a live band! They are great on albums but really shine when live!! GO!! They are the Led Zeppelin of our time.
I've seen them live last year in August. Most powerful experience in my life. I felt like drunk and high at the same time, but I was completely sober. That music and energy from the band is amazing.
Metallica is still awesome live to this day. They had a rough patch from the late 90's to mid 2000's but they sound good again. Not the same energy as 30 years ago but they are in their 50's now. They sounded awesome in 2008. Their concerts in the 80's and early 90's are absolutely legendary. Unarguably one of the best live acts ever. They had an energy and connection to the crowd like no other band. You must check out the Live Shit Binge and Purge box set shows. Seattle 89 and San Diego 92 are amazing. Especially Seattle. One of the best concerts put to tape. Blackened, Creeping Death, Battery, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Sanitarium, The Four Horseman, ...And Justice For All, Whiplash. It is all great.
He said '' They had a rough patch from the late 90's to mid 2000's but they sound good again'' Which implies that in his opinion, late 90s were not as good as what they sound like now, which is, absolutely wrong.
First time I saw them, 2017 they played this, completely blown away, the song was nearly 10 mins and they gave us a “special ending”. Saw them again this past October, absolute insanity bro. They are incredible live

I love your reaction videos because you are so open and honest. Whether you like a song or not, you are very respectful and that is awesome! Keep it up!

I‘ve learned this song like 8 years ago. And up to this day there is pretty much no session where i don’t play the ending solo at least as a warm up. Imo this song is just pure perfection, imagine writing something like this, oh man, every note is just where it belongs and should never ever be something else, thats what i dont like about the live performance of this song, kirk always butchers the ending solo into something else but hey after so many years playing it almost every week or so live, well you have to mix it up a bit. But fade to black is so much fun to play even after 8 years.
Metallica is by far the best concert band ive seen. I was sure they werent really playing ( sounded too perfect) until Kirk Hammit trip on his cord and fucked up one of his solos for about 4 seconds. They are flawless in concert.

Saw Metallica last year, July 5th, after having been a fan for about 10 years. It was a magical experience!! They played this song, which happens to my favorite. The quality of their show is outstanding, they put on a show that made a stadium feel like a small venue. Truly one of the greatest bands ever!!
Back in 2010, on March 3rd, they came to the Estadio Universitario in Monterrey, México, I was 17 and had this scolarship, I used the money to buy the tickets and take my dad and my brother with me. It was really a experience, I was in love with the band back then, and I still am, but then was more like a girly thing xD a fangirl thing xD and man, it was brutal, really brutal. Can't belive it's been almost 10 years. Time flies away, I guess.

woodyburns Doesn't sound like a rip off to me. I don't know what you're smoking but Fade to Black sounds a lot better than anything Iron Maiden has ever done.
I've seen Metallica a couple of times and I have tickets to see them again at ACL here in Austin in October. I'm almost 38, and I remember fondly listening to them on cassette tape in the 80's. Fade to Black has and probably always will be my favorite song of theirs. They're fantastic live. What makes their shows really spectacular is the fandom and the camaraderie with everyone there. The diversity at Metallica shows is insane-you will see people from every country, from every walk of life, with every skin tone, you'll see parents with babies, children, teenagers, young people, middle aged people, elderly people-everyone is so friendly and welcoming and everyone bonds over Metallica.
Metallica in concert are bad azz! Haven't seen them live since Cliff Burton was still with them. Shows you how old I am. This song got me through a hellish childhood.
Holy shit. For real. When the Metallica crew started testing Lars' drum set right before the show, the sound waves to the chest were overwhealming. Saw them in Argentina in 2017. My first big concert ever :D
Me too. You've tapped into something HUGE. Every metalhead wants people to understand why we love the music. We just want to be understood. It's a lonely musical life...

I've seen Metallica live more than any other band. Simply because their concerts aren't just concerts....They're experiences. Best live band I've ever seen

Acid Trungpa drunk and high is what we call faded lol
Isn't that a beautiful thing, I feel the same way when I listen to them on the way to work. Their music is so powerful and addicting
@KEM MEK while faded* fuckin basic ass
Best slow song from Metallica. In my top 5 all time.
That final solo. THE BEST
Metallica sounded way better live back in late 90s to 2000 than they do nowadays..
He said '' They had a rough patch from the late 90's to mid 2000's but they sound good again''
Which implies that in his opinion, late 90s were not as good as what they sound like now, which is, absolutely wrong.
Watch Pantera or Metallica live at Moscow there was is 1,6 million people in that show, greats from Brazil!
First time I saw them, 2017 they played this, completely blown away, the song was nearly 10 mins and they gave us a “special ending”. Saw them again this past October, absolute insanity bro. They are incredible live
I was about 12 yrs old when I first heard them (1984) LOVE THEM...bout 16 when first seen them. The energy in the air.. is like pure electric passion. ..the wall of fans into eternity!!! AMAZING... I seen them again after the black album. Well the best ever was I won tickets in Detroit on RIFF radio for 6th row for NEW YEARS 2000!!! I WAS IN TEARS OF JOY
You should react to Metallica - Battery live in Seattle 1989!!
Obsessed with your reactions man. I love seeing people discover the world of rock, metal and grunge. There’s so many more hidden gems for you to find bro
seeing your reactions literally brought me to tears. I was 15 when this came out and you remind me how much I love it. Thank you sir.
So happy seeing this, the chills and tears I gir hearing this for the first time and even now blows me away. Seeing this makes me so happy like it was me listening to it for the first time.
Dude, you do a wonderful job with your reviews. You really capture the moment and remind me of my first time listening to these songs.
I wish you the best of luck on your journey my friend.
And the gaming samples you add are flawless. Keep up the great work!
me too. i have cried a few times. bc i forget how much enjoyment there is in rediscovering!
Dude he's like the best
Yeah, that´s the point. It reminds me of my first listenings, too.
I've said exactly this in some other video XD
Reminds when we got the first intro to Metal \m/
I went to a metallica concert last summer. It was my first time going to any concert and I dont think it could have been any better. The music was so loud it hurt but i loved it, the crowd was going insane, and Metallica delivered like only they can. I was pumped full of adrenaline the entire time had the best time of my life. Nothing can ever compare.
I've seen METALLICA live 4 times, and you HAVE to see it in person to REALLY understand their power. I guess the next best thing would be to watch "Creeping Death" live in Moscow.
Or live in Seattle '89 but you're 100% right.
I went backstage to one of their concerts when i was younger. Amazing they brought me out it was so great.
Great reactions, man! For Metallica instrumentals: Orion, Call of Ktulu, To live is to Die. Other thrash masterpieces by Metallica: Disposable Heroes, Battery, Damage Inc, Fight Fire with fire...and the list goes on. Keep 'em coming, man!
Erik Wik You forgot Leper Messiah
Haha...I forgot the rest of the first 4-5 albums...tons of epic tunes.
Yeah, let' s get him to react to ORION
Erik Wik Yeah plus All Nightmare Long and Spit out the Bone.
Orion hits you deep
How or why you never listened to Metallica is beyond me. Welcome to one of the best metal bands in the world.
metallica was the first concert i ever saw, back in 89 during the justice tour. 100% EPIC!!!
Holy shit. That must have been hell for a first concert. Nothing wrong about it tho...
I love your reaction videos because you are so open and honest. Whether you like a song or not, you are very respectful and that is awesome! Keep it up!
Thanks for the reactions! Great to see more people open minded enough to really listen and understand what us lucky ones have known since the 80's...keep digging. There are many, many more gems like this one!
Metallica- Blackened
Even though I grew up w/this music that's how I felt when I listened the 1st time. ! That's WHY I luv watching u watch it brings the whole 1st time experience back. I believe for me
the Music will always bring back the experience so
Thank You!!!
It´s so great to see someone enjoying this music the same way I do. Really appreciate this
It just makes u want to learn how to play the guitar. 🎶
Oh trust me it's fun to play this song.
Aaand that's how I started learning in Middle School. Just a hobby but I had a lot of fun with it :)
This is the song that inspired me to learn guitar. That outro solo is the greatest
Little did you know us guitarists cried to this song.
Metallica is by far the best concert band ive seen. I was sure they werent really playing ( sounded too perfect) until Kirk Hammit trip on his cord and fucked up one of his solos for about 4 seconds. They are flawless in concert.
Is it just me? Or is Preston the ONLY FUCKING ONE who knows how to LISTEN!! I repeat LISTEN!! Like actually listen and FEEL the music..My favorite reaction channel. You own Preston. Subscribed on day one man, keep up the free thinking.
I love this channel, it’s really interesting to see someone experience the music I love for the first time. You sir have a true open mind to music, and that’s really awesome! I love Metallica, and they were the first concert I ever saw in February, 2016. I couldn’t believe how amazing they were live. Heavy Music forever! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
If you like their instrumental react to Orion

My step dad saw them open up for him
This always gives me the chills, goosebumps and every other emotion you can feel when listening.. This is one of my funeral songs.. Concerts I've been to a few and they're always awesome, seen them at Wembley, Cardiff, Birmingham NEC and Milton Keynes bowl with Megadeth and Diamondhead was a wicked day out..
It's so good to se someone listening to master pieces like that for the first time. Amazing dude, keep listening to rock, you will not regret
Their change ups are incredible!
I now bestow upon you, the title, Sir MetalHead 🤘🏼
This is by far my favorite song i get goosebumps everytime i hear kirks solo its the perfect build up i seen em live in miami in 2017 they were awesome we was 10' from the stage took a good week to get my hearing back rock on brother

My Son has been to 5 Metallica concerts, they are an Awesome band !! I got my son to love them when he was a little boy.
Brenda Peterson that’s awesome
You're a badass mom! 🤘
I wish i had a mom like you not that i dont love my mom i love my mom i wish she was just cool like you
Omkar Ghumare Not trying to be a cool mom, always loved rock-metal music my entire life . Metallica is a great group. We are close in age as well.
Brenda Peterson so are we?? So i suppose i might find a gurl like you eeh🙈🙈
Hey man new sub from Scotland iv been to see Metallica every time they have been in the UK with the exception of 2 gigs since 1999
I've had the pleasure of seeing them SIX times live in concert, and they are AWESOME!!!
I sincerely enjoy watching you react to my childhood’s favorite songs. Keep it up man you have good taste.
En mi país los vi por primera vez el 2014 fue la primera vez que tocaron acá y solo puedo decir que fue la experiencia mas cool de mi vida :´D
Simon un regio comentando en un videazo saludos compatriota
I think I've been to every Metallica concert in Houston. I really appreciate your reaction.there was such a release with the energy of the crowd, there's just nothing like it. Love watching your reaction.

Mossad Hunter best comment here! seen it and it's real! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼 /m\
TRUE!! Saw them under the pouring rain! Amazing
I remember I used to call this song into the radio station back in 98, thank you for this reaction! Made my whole day
I think you for this review I’m glad you enjoyed it. I hope some of ur subs like it cause MetallicA has so much more to offer
Love this reaction my dude! This is hands down my favorite rock song of all time!
Prison Life: Inside & Out Definitely the greatest Metallica song of all time. That solo is just surreal man
FTB is actually a rip off of Iron Maiden's "Children Of The Damned", I'd check that one out
woodyburns Doesn't sound like a rip off to me. I don't know what you're smoking but Fade to Black sounds a lot better than anything Iron Maiden has ever done.
Nightrider749 Blasphemy. FTB came out in 84, COTD came out in 82. FTB is just played faster
Clearly you've never listened to Iron Maiden!
I have been to many concerts in my life and Metallica's sound waves gave you the hardest punches to the chest. It was awesome.
Holy shit. For real. When the Metallica crew started testing Lars' drum set right before the show, the sound waves to the chest were overwhealming. Saw them in Argentina in 2017. My first big concert ever :D
Fight fire with fire....
Shivam Yadav ending is near🤘🏻
You sir have earned a subscriber.
Gary Lennon Agreed, love the open minded listeners. Now I need to go watch more rap reactions from Preston to get my diversity on!
Me too. You've tapped into something HUGE. Every metalhead wants people to understand why we love the music. We just want to be understood. It's a lonely musical life...
#metoo
I'm very late to comment like more than two years after uplod, but I have to say King KTF that it has been a pleasure watching your vides as a old headbanger myself. I did grow up with Metallica, and "Fade to Black" is one of the track in my absolute "Top 5 Metal Songs Ever". I'm glad to see your excitement over the same track that I love! I have been also sharing this video to bunch of friends (and still doing whenever I get to know new people in my life) and they love it as well! Just glad to see someone new to our community :) Great work and keep it up!
Not sure how I can across your channel but I love watching your reactions. I saw Metallica 4 times at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh,Pa in the late 80s. My most memorable thing from them is when I stayed up, was in high school att, to watch their debut video " One" on head bangers ball on MTV. Thanks man
Metallica are the absolute gods of all things rock and metal
Greg Sweigart Metallica is awesome, Iron Maiden kicks ass as well.
Megadeth \m/
Live in Seattle 89 - the best Metallica concert
@King KTF...First off, great channel man...good to see people going out of their comfort zone and listen to new stuff...I try to as well...that being said, this was one of the best concerts I have ever seen back in 1989 for the Justice for all tour (same tour as the Seattle show)....The experience was almost religious for me, it was my first Metallica concert but had been listening for a few years.....you can already get a great vibe from the music but I can remember it being so loud you can feel the bass and drums travel right through you....and the times they got the crowd involved, being there with my 3 buddies and at that time they didnt hassle you for smoking weed at the venue was probably the best concert of life and they were in their prime at this time, no doubt....I lost my voice and couldnt hear the next day
I was lucky enough to see them at Day on the Green in Oakland CA in 85. Cliff was incredible!
I've seen Metallica live more than any other band. Simply because their concerts aren't just concerts....They're experiences. Best live band I've ever seen
I just subbed, because I love watching you react to Metallica. As an old metal head from the 80's I think it's awesome.
I enjoy seeing new ppl discover great music
Was at their Damaged Justice and Wherever We May Roam concerts way back when, when I was in high school. They are unreal live. Incredible shows. Some of the best shows I've ever been to.
sanitarium (welcome home)- metalica
If bro hear this he really gonna lose it!
One of my absolute favorits!
Bro play this it’s amazing
You need this in your life
Kirk Hammett..Best .. legend..in my opinion
Metallica - Creeping Death
That would be an added to my list too
This reaction made my day man!
Hi there! I'm from Buenos Aires. I was lucky to see them live last year. One of the best concerts ever. I even lost my cell phone in the mass of people and I didn't care.
I like your channel, man! Keep up with the reactions :D
