    You should do your own Stuckmann Awards that have the same categories as academy awards/golden globes etc and even some new ones so that we get to know you're feelings on some of the even finer details (editing, soundtrack etc) and so you don't have to think of the shit of last year

      Same. And honestly, there were moments where I laughed, like the scene in which the old man is playing Beethoven through those giant speakers pointed at the room above. At first, the scene was disturbing, but I separated myself from it, and realised the complete absurdity of it, and started dying of laughter. According to Malcolm McDowell, it was meant to be a dark comedy, but many people did not understand that upon its initial release.

      Raymond van den Bos I don't personally know him, but I hate his sense of humor. I don't find him funny, he comes across more whiny than anything else, which irritates me. The jokes that are there are shoved down your throat and/or beaten over your head, which also annoys me. His legitimate reviews come across empty, and his AVGN movie review was phony as all get out. He just isn't my cup of tea, I do what I can to avoid him. I'm a RedLetterMedia type of guy. I find their jokes a lot funnier, not so much their skits on half in the bag, but their Plinkett reviews are hilarious and informative, it's inspiring to me.

    A clockwork orange and Requiem for a Dream are two movies I can't really watch again but were really good movies. Also, I'm not even a well known youtube movie critique and I get a bunch of hate just because I enjoyed The Force Awakens, some people called me a stupid cunt that doesn't know anything about star wars, and I've been a fan since I was a kid. I don't understand peoples need to have the only right opinion about something, especially with movies with big fandoms like star wars and marvel. But I like your videos because you give a thorough review, and your Star Wars Analysis video really made me a fan for life. Also, I feel inspired to go back to my movie reviews I used to do but was afraid of having angry trolls, that would judge everything. I love talking about movies and I like film so I'm gonna just continue anyway. But anyway thanks for this video really got me out of a rut. :)

    • @TheBandy98
      @TheBandy98 8 років тому +5

      +moviechic07 Ooh, Requiem for a Dream is a rough watch, for sure. Besides that, the whole idea of subjectivity is lost on all but 5 % of the film community. Apparently it is okay to personally attack someone (not that the actual attack is ever effective, but they sure try) just for sharing your opinion about an art form. It is stupid beyond belief. Also, I'd also say that the majority of these so called film "fans" have seen about 14 films in their lives, and now suddenly think they know everything there is to know about movies in general. I LOVED - LOVED - The Force Awakens. That is my honest opinion about it. But is that really a legitimate reason for slamming me and calling me a liar, fanboy or that I'm in denial and so forth? Look, if you feel passionately about film, and think that your voice not only can be heard , but also that it matters and stands on it's own apart from everyone else, then continue to do your videos. Don't care about the haters, they'll always be around.

    • @moviechic07
      @moviechic07 8 років тому +1

      Nils Engman Wow thank you Nils, Thanks for the words of encouragement. I really appreciate it. I mean I don't care if I don't become popular I just like to be able to discuss whatever the subject matter is to who ever wants to talk about it. I like to hear other peoples point of view even if it doesn't match mine. I'm trying to start to get back into filming and not caring what others think. This one guy commented on one of my review vids and said "some people shouldn't have a youtube channel" lol I guess this person really liked the movie Sparkle. Which was subpar at best. But anyway Thanks for making me feel better about putting myself out there again. :)

    • @TheBandy98
      @TheBandy98 8 років тому +3

      moviechic07 No worries. I personally haven't accomplished anything on UA-cam (really hard when you've had no intention of even trying :P), but I still believe that anyone's got a legitimate shot at success on YT. Even if one's intention on UA-cam shouldn't be to reach success, but rather to just to it because you enjoy it. I hope you continue and that you'll find enjoyment in what you're doing. And if you're consistent and persistent enough, who knows, maybe you'll one day be the new Stuckmann.

      there was recently a smosh article called something like "scary movies that aren't horror movies" and requiem for a dream was on the list. it basically said it was a good movie but if you know anyone who can watch it multiple times then they're probably criminal masterminds and you should run away. It appears difficulty rewatching that movie is a common occurrence.

    I really like your reviews, and while I also subscribe to Nostalgia Critic and Red Letter Media, I don't see anything that is copied in terms of format or style in your reviews or analyses. In fact, I think your reviews are getting better and better over time. I especially liked your Lego approach to the original Star Wars movie review, which I saw with my dad and half sister in June 1977. What many younger people don't realize who did not see the film when it came out was there was NOTHING to compare that film to because it was such a quantum leap in terms of visual effects, and being thrown into an entirely foreign culture that people had NEVER seen before.

    I've always wondered, in the UK we have a cinema chain where you can buy unlimited passes, which mean you can watch as many movies as you want for one price a month, does the US have a cinema chain that offers this? I'd imagine so because otherwise it would cost him a lot of money, or he might get free viewings, which I believe he as for a few films.
    (Apology if he answers this in the video, I've started it and paused it to watch the final of the snooker)

    • @madhukollu
      @madhukollu 8 років тому

      There is a subscription service called 'movie pass' here in USA. It costs $30 - $35 per month. There is one movie per day limit though.

      +madhukollu I reckon he could get the press pass thing for the movies, he is a big UA-cam movie reviewer, and his reviews do reach a lot of people, like myself in the UK for instance, no doubt people in Australia as well.

      chibraska They are always louder. And just because of that, people who liked it think they are in the minority. I know that the majority of people who saw Mockingjay Part 2 liked it, but that doesn't change my personal opinion about that I really didn't like it. It's all about admitting that you're in the minority, and that your opinion means jack shit to others, while realizing that your opinion is ALL that should matter to you personally. I couldn't care less what some person who I don't know, will never meet in person, thinks of a movie.

    I completely understand about fan reaction. My channel is way smaller but I had someone recently just randomly say, "I feel sorry for you, you dumb bitch." and it hurt. I'm not used to something like that...but I did my best to ignore it. It's hard but you have to weigh the positive against the good. I'm SURE you get way more positive comments and I do as well. That's what you have to remember :)

    • @OnlyRoke
      @OnlyRoke 8 років тому +3

      just remember: it's always easier to criticise or even insult someone when you don't have to do it in person and especially when you don't have to do their jobs!

    • @TheBandy98
      @TheBandy98 8 років тому

      +LPlandOFazul The important thing to remember is that your opinion matters as much as their's. Don't take crap like that, own up to it, explain your opinions. If you do that, no one in their right mind should ever criticize you, and that's where you know they are just a bunch of cry babies who have nothing better to do than to watch content that they simply don't enjoy.
