Whoever said "Seedy Toe" I agree that this is a white line disease issue that is not being seen to correctly and needs significantly more care. The exterior of this donkeys hoof wall was shaved down to make this shoe fit. The nails are in deep and that white line issue or "seedy toe" will remain an issue until properly treated. The hoof is unbalanced and the donkey does not walk away without pain in the end but walks away lame. The soles are not taken down at all. The exterior hoof wall is not rasped and is sliced of in major pieces and I have no idea what he is putting into the hoof wall separated from the rest of the hoof. Bugs happen to be eating dead or decaying tissue and are not the cause of the problem but an effect of the problem. The frog is also left with huge flaps so cleaning it everyday must be very hard. This will continue to get worse without proper treatment and a shoe that is not only fitted but for corrective issues.
Primitive does as primitive sees. Lucky to have any attention at all. If lame and cannot work the animal would possibly be consumed. No more suffering. Poor love
The biggest problem to me is that he put a tiny shoe on a weak hoof that's pretty much falling apart. The trimming wasn't perfect by any means but i've seen worse.
You have to respect how tough and durable these donkeys are. I was impressed by how well the farrier handled the crude tools he was working with, but those hoof-trimming tools are so crude compared to what you see hoof trimmers use in the United States & UK. They don't even look safe.
I totally agree. What I noticed is how disproportionately the second shoe was. It was far too small and I can tell it's going to dig in very shortly after being placed.
I do truly understand how you feel. My guess is you live in a first world country such as the USA or UK and have a farrier with farrier tools you can call every 6 to 8 weeks. We need to not be judgmental on these people and make them not feel safe to share their videos because believe me I have seen worse in Chinese videos and worse in people than animals. We need to educate and point out the good - he took off a lot of length. We need to empathize when we see him using a can to pour in treatment because he doesn't have extra items to pour from like you or I do. We can't just judge them because they may believe this is the best treatment. We can only make suggestions that there are even better ways. Unless you've lived it, it's hard to imagine. They may not have money for 6 to 8 week trims but they need the animal. Educate others, not judge. No cop is going to charge this person with cruelty in a rural area of China potentially if this was actually filmed during the VID19 issues. You need to understand their rules and limitations and not yours. Very different. Pro's - he did take off a significant amount of length- they say almost 2/3. The frog appeared to still have decent blood flow and was very thick. Taking off the amount of length he did have a decent angled foot at the end for his method. what can be improved - taking the flaps off the frog so the foot is easier to pick everyday is a simple thing to improve easily. Shaping the shoe to fit the donkeys foot is a simple and thoughtful suggestion of a way to improve. Fit the shoe to the foot and not the foot to the shoe. I would just ask if you did the best of what you know and people called it abuse would you want to post anymore? Not everyone has first world access to tools and knowledge. Maybe it's a sign we should count our blessings.
@@Lizzard2060 I’m in Australia and what the farrier did was great. I agree with all of what you are saying, however, the owner needs to be educated in what is right. This is not right.
@@workingmum1552 Both the owner and the Master Farrier need a better education. Both do. Not just in feet but the owner in feed and then rotation of work days on and off, cleaning of the feet, and general animal care/husbandry. The donkey needs some weight. This could be due to poor diet or it could be from being wormed far less often then it is shod. The frog and foot needs to be cleaned everyday. The donkey likely needs a day or more off work. They need education and in order to follow the suggestions they need the ability to care for themselves to be able to take a day off of work.
It's Beijing-style "veterinary care", sir. "The Edict of Compassion for All Living Things" was written in a neighboring country, and in this country a human life is worth nothing, not to mention working cattle.
I too havent seen planer used on hoof. I went to Oklahoma State Horseshoing School in Dec. 1980. It was and is an outstanding school for horseshoing with each student haveing a coal burning forge. We learned to make shoes from plain steel bars and forge specialty shoes to help healing of hooves. I have'nt shod a horse or mule in years as it is rough on lower back. Goot video!
These people such do not know how to take care of their animals. They surely must be ignorant of animal husbandry. Thank you for taking care of this donkey.
It’s a foreign country. And not every country folk is going to be that irresponsible. As far as the U.S. goes, most owners of farm animals or just horses actually take great care of them.
But just think if they where out in wild what you think happens to all the hoofs then ???? Only for man helping the would be in a lot problems and pain think about it 🤔
@@michaelosullivan4989 Animals with hooves didn't start existing when humans started domesticating them. Horses were around long before man started messing with them. Animals in the wild have their own ways of keeping the hooves in good, working condition. Think about it.
@@michaelosullivan4989 So animals in the wild or equines in the wild could roam 30 miles in one day. The natural movement of walking over different terrains made their hooves wear down naturally. The only reason we have farriers and need to cut them today is we don't have 30 mile paddocks where horses do nothing but walk around and tread over their native lands to manager growth by natural wear and tear. We have small paddocks where horses are ridden and kept in climates not natural to them. When I say horses it applies to both horses and donkeys. We had to learn to manage to recreate the needs of the horse from their hunt for fertile grasses where we grow hay to the wearing down of the hoof either not enough in which case a farrier comes to cut the excess every 6 to 8 weeks depending on the equines needs and growth patterns or where we ride them too much or their hooves are softer and we add shoes to prevent too much wear and tear to the feet of the animal resulting in damage to the hoof. This still happens generally every 6 to 8 weeks. So that is what happens in the wild and why mustangs don't need a farrier and do just fine and never have long feet. It's a man made issue that man needs to correct. Animals with hooves have been around for a very very very long time and before we ever got the idea to ride a horse we first saw them like deer and ate them them. We didn't think about placing saddles on their backs for hundreds of years. The owners here did not take care of their donkeys, even when they are really bad as the sole is not concave for the foot to be able to flex naturally. The first hoof we saw the bleeding stopped because the hoof wall became unattached from the rest of the hoof, which needs some very serious looking after medically. It's all supposed to be one piece. I don't know why the reshod him if his hooves grew that long showing he had no problem with growth and when you take off a shoe that has been well worn it will be much thinner to the point it can be sharp and flat like a knife and that shows the level of wear on a shoe. This person did not understand what a donkeys feet should look like on the bottom.
It's Northern China. He's lucky to have power tools at all. He's using a hand made sickle to trim. They probably don't have a blacksmith who knows how to forge proper farrier tools.
He is very skillful with his tools. The donkey is probably very grateful to have his feet fixed up again. Is painful for them to have to walk on such overgrown hoofs.
Yes he is very skilful…so why didn’t he apply those skills over the last 2yrs. It’s been that long judging by the state of the hoof. It an act of cruelty that nobody really notices, being kind to a working animal doesn’t mean you don’t beat them, you feed them well, but the bacteria is working away on the hoof, the lack of a pool to rehydrate their hooves and help them cool down. If this animal is your bread and butter he/she should be treated with respect, you wouldn’t bad use your car/van by letting them start falling to bits, well this living animal is far more important than a car. Sorry for harping on folks but animal cruelty takes my ire to another level.🐴👍❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇦🇺🇦
I don't find him skillful with his tools. I find him to be winging it and doing it poorly. Shoes are changed every 6 to 8 weeks. Look at the length and figure maybe 1/2 in per mo, that is how long they have put off regular care (like an oil change) for this animal. The first foot we saw the hoof wall was separated to the point the "master" could put his tool in between the wall and the hoof sole. If not fixed the animal will die. The hooves are not cut properly as the soles are left as long as the hoof walls. This makes it so the hoof can't flex at all and the animal is putting all of it's weight on the hoof walls. Walking on as long of hooves as he had for the length of time he did likely rotated the coffin bone downwards or spiraled it. This can't be undone and needs corrective shoeing and time off from hard work along with a fully proper trim. They donkey will still be in pain regardless of the length cut off or not and still has had great harm done to it and this trim is not a fix by any longshot idea. Since his feet were so overgrown they actually needed corrective shoeing or to leave slightly more on at the back for him to not be very lame the next several days. This still wont stop the internal injuries likely already done or the hoof wall separation we saw. If he was skillful why did the donkey not have concave soles??? so he could have flexion in his foot???

Looks painful. Poor animal 🐎
This will continue to get worse without proper treatment and a shoe that is not only fitted but for corrective issues.
it's really sickening to watch
OMG! I was hoping he is doing this right. I'm saddened by this & pray the animals get the right help. Thanks for explaining.

Primitive does as primitive sees. Lucky to have any attention at all. If lame and cannot work the animal would possibly be consumed. No more suffering. Poor love

The hooves of the poor animal were not really cleaned well as they should. Those hooves were given uneven cuts! Slovenly done!
The biggest problem to me is that he put a tiny shoe on a weak hoof that's pretty much falling apart. The trimming wasn't perfect by any means but i've seen worse.
Yeah seems like a donkey doing the donkey's job.

These poor creatures, they are blessed , coming to you. They must feel so much relief when you repair their hoofs.
You have to respect how tough and durable these donkeys are. I was impressed by how well the farrier handled the crude tools he was working with, but those hoof-trimming tools are so crude compared to what you see hoof trimmers use in the United States & UK. They don't even look safe.
Tools are only as safe as the person using it. I bet that you hardly handle tools.
I totally agree. What I noticed is how disproportionately the second shoe was. It was far too small and I can tell it's going to dig in very shortly after being placed.
I find it fascinating how little these they take care of their animals

The owner should be charged with cruelty. That poor animal must be in so much pain.
Na China? Muito difícil.

I've seen people trim the hoofs with a grinder, but never a woodplane. This is the first time.
It's Beijing-style "veterinary care", sir.

Goot video!

The owners of these animals don't take care of their hooves until it's really bad.

It an act of cruelty that nobody really notices,
being kind to a working animal doesn’t mean you don’t beat them, you feed them well, but the bacteria is working away on the hoof, the lack of a pool to rehydrate their hooves and help them cool down.
@@coolvoice7 to make a comment it's the owners responsibility to call on the farior and to clean the hooves of the animal
Awesome.
It would be very kind to clean the hoof right around. Not just at the bottom. Thank you for the medicine too
