First of all this is a mule, not a donkey. This was a very rough and rudimentary shoeing job, but it was far better than it had before. Let’s try to keep in mind this is a work animal. Not a pet and not for show. Would you buy the most expensive tires and mount them on your beat up work truck? Of course not. You’re gonna buy the least expensive but adequately functional tire you can get. That’s exactly what this mule got.
The hooves wouldn't be in such bad shape if the farmer cleaned their hooves out and had them trimmed on a regular basis. These animals are treated like shit.
The hoof trimmer (I can’t even call them farriers that would make them too professional) treats them badly too. I’ve seen them tie them up monstrously to keep them still. It’s just criminal I had to stop watching these videos. They bothered me way too much.❤️
Working on my uncles farm when I was young he explained that all livestock have a daily maintenance routine that must be done. This shows the worst when it’s not taken care of.

Real farriers do that after they shod horses, but it wouldn’t help these donkeys that are in the dirt always. Besides the only thing that will keep the hooves healthy is to clean them out & keep them filed. If the farmer can’t do that he’s not going to skip those steps & oil them. Also if the donkeys had grass to walk on once in a while their hooves would naturally trim themselves for the most part. It’s a nice thought but the only real solution will never be met. These farmers don’t think they’re doing anything wrong. The only value they hold on the poor animals is how much work they can get out of them. Yeah it just sickens me. ❤️
That horse shoes are too small for the donkeys hooves. They should go in line with the wall of the hoove on the outside, hoove will grow over the horse shoe on outsides. But otgerwise a welldone job

What about oiling the hooves periodically so they aren't so dry that they crack? I don't know anything about this. It just seems humane to me.
