So on the surface Benson and Squidward are similar they do have differences such as Squid's laziness at work and ego on his work while Benson appears to be more hard working and humble as he doesnt paint himself alot

@@TheAlphaJayShow In regards to your comment about Benson and Squidward feeling "more relatable" as we grow older...I turned 38 back in December and to this day, both characters feel like angry wastes of space.
Bitter people have no place in society; at least, people who have biased/unjustified reasons to be bitter. Sure, Mordo and Rigby cause most of the trouble at the park...but what about Muscle Man, High Five Ghost or the often ditzy Pops? Plus, why choose to work at a job that would otherwise feel unfulfilling to you?
My philosophy has always been if you plan on finding work, go somewhere where your skills will be of good use and Benson's main skill seems to be drumming

yeah, Mordechai purposely ruined his relationships like dumping CJ at a wedding, and Benson once said he had a bunch of girls he dated but forgot about them when he went to Dump Town for single again sad to lazy, ruining their lives bums and o my God that dog in the one scene was like kill me like I can't even with that place.

Not to mention after Dumptown I feel like the show got back on track after Mordo's love life was deemphasized.

@@TheAlphaJayShow I can relate, my teenage years were pretty much focused on other stuff, I had no time to invest in being in a relationship. I tried a couple of years ago but it didn’t work out.

Kinda, but Squidward was kinda bitter killjoyer at the end. Benson actually cared about his workers and made an active effort on helping them multiple times. He also regularly had fun with them. Squidward was a doomer. Benson was a bloomer

Wish the final season wasn't in space. We could have gotten all those moments of the cast growing up in the last 5 minutes instead seeing it happen directly.

@@blackban4689 It's not NUTS. Rigby had an arc where he grew while Mordecai had several arcs that pulled him in too many directions to the point he sunk further into himself, until the finale.
I really liked Pam and Benson's relationship. It's so wholesome and cute.

I wouldnt say an unhealthy relationship vibe, but more of a long term incompatibility with benson since the two didn’t have to much in terms of commonality aside from partying
I genuinely never dislike Benson when I was a kid. The fact that this guy to crap and kept coming to work was amazing and he deserves better
Compared to Pam, Audrey is nothing. Pam was kind enough to initiate the breakup herself, and Benson was probably the one to tell Audrey that their trajectories were going perpendicular. Audrey really did do Benson dirty by making a move right in front of Chuck like that, then sat back and watched him mix a nuclear pile in her massive novelty margarita glass. Pam was there for him when he came back where was Audrey?

People have complained that Mordecai's love life has been the worst. But if you ask me; compared to Benson, at least Mordo (along one or two others on the park staff) stuck with one partner for longer than just a month or so.
Dump Town U.S.A. showed us that Benson had several breakups in his life, which...doesn't really surprise me. Who'd want to be with a guy who has such severe anger issues

Recently rewatched the series. No only did I have new respect for Benson, but now as a 21 year old with actual dating experience pretty similar to Benson I really feel empathetic to him. I got so excited when he met Pam and crushed me when they broke up. I was glad the rekindled their love as she was one of my personal favorite characters on the show as well. I’m really glad he got a happy ending. Good show, jolly good show.
The episode with the dodgeball tournament, Benson desperately said he needed a win bad, I think that was post Audrey break up.

The ups and downs Benson faced added to his character development imo. Dont think he learned from the last, but has grown overall. When he was single, he was loose and relaxed. But when he was dating, he was short tempered about everything, even if nobody was jokin or askin him about his love life. He was just more snippy
Mordecai and Rigby are very good at most things outside of work in the show but they really are the laziest mfs ever for such a simple job. I work a labor job rn and it’s funny cuz they act like some of my coworker’s 😭😭😭

I know Benson is portrayed as a hot head and even gets extreme at times, but it's not exactly hard to see why when others keep screwing him over when he's actually a pretty good boss.
He always threatens to fire them, but he refuses to fire anyone in actuality, no matter what he does.

I forget the show but there's this one show where the guy who gives out advice and shares his Good Fortune with everybody at the end of it ends up having nothing at the end.
That's kind of what I thought Benson was kind of representing the lovable loser and nobody likes but in later life you would relate to. I can't remember there's another character like that in close enough as well. Though my memory of that show is a bit bittersweet

Benson is literally my spirit animal I never watched this show till I was an adult... but I can relate at failing relationships so frequently it's disheartening at this point.
I've literally been writing a song called "Romance Is Dead" do to the fallouts that I've had, or at least the ones that formed my ideal relationship type.

Benson is definitely like Squidward. I started watching this show thinking he was over-reacting and a jerk, but as I got older even though I love Mordecai and Rigby I realized how annoying they were to their boss and understood Benson's anger. That gumball machine deserved so much better. I liked his relationship with Audrey I wish we got more of it. At least he got some kind of happy ending.

You know when I was a kid I used to hate Benson a little bit but now that I'm older and like 22 years old now. I can definitely understand Benson and 100% respect him a whole lot more as opposed to back then. As for the question at the end I would say Pam because while watching this video and seeing the numerous red flags that Audrey was given off as opposed to Pam I would literally say that she deserves Benson as opposed to Audrey who invites their ex to their party while trying to get to know someone? 🤨
The thing I really appreciate about Regular Show is the hardships Benson and M faced when it comes to romance. As an adult I relate to there struggles.

Benson definitely deserved better. He had a lot of girlfriends who dumped him and I know his old past(being a drummer, probably partying all the time and maybe even using some dr*gs in his past.) probably caused the breakups but in show, he seems to change and try enough to keep relationships and make things lead nice. I kinda think Audrey and Benson had a argument about that iron stomach dude and had a breakup which maybe ended with Benson seeing Audrey with iron stomach dude, that caused him to wanna cover a scar so ignore the red flags in Natalie(Natalia). Benson tried his best and more than his best for Pam, like, he sneaked in a scientist base just for bringing Pam CHICKEN WINGS and promised to do it EVERY DAY(keep in mind he's a busy and extremely tired person, almost all the time.) He gave out advices to Mordecai and Muscle Man to help their relationships. He knew what could be a love sign and would make someone happy. He did mistakes in his love life but probably never broke anyone's heart.(he knows what heartbreaking and pain feels like, considering his family life too.) He wasn't a bad person, it doesn't mean he's a bad guy if he did some bad things.(if it worked that way, Mordecai and Rigby were even worse.) So, Benson deserved a stable relationship which makes him happy, not leave him with heartbreak and will see his good sides other than his stressed personality.
You don't truly understand Benson until you've had a Mordecai or Rigby as a coworker.
