Bluey is a perfect example of how you can make a “kids show” that is enjoyable to every age group without being edgy or overly serious. Too many people assume that if you’re making a show for young kids, then you just don’t have to put any effort into it.
I think it is a matter of preference because now and even when i was a kid i had no interest in shows like bluey or steven universe that kinda focused on teaching kids moral lessons. They kind of screwed the network with the TTG strategy. Who in the world would pitch new and unique ideas to a network that purely exists for write offs. It's kind of ironic cause Adult Swim is thriving but the daytime network is slowly dying off.

Teen Titans Go is basically Teen Titans remade by the old boomers that think "cartoons are ONLY EVER for kids".
That Cartoon Network (which helped popularize many of the first American cartoons that broke out from that mold) has decided to push this as their flagship really shows how out of touch (some of) their execs have grown.
This comment sounds like it was made by a boomer who thinks everything new is bad and wants everything to stay the way it was in his heyday during the war.
Exactly!
@@katisothatho624 It's objectively bad that one show gets to monopolize the schedule and other creators aren't given enough of an opportunity with theirs in the main channel.
Even if I agree with the comment and think a channel is called CARTOON NETWORK for a reason, I'm entertaining your take for a second. Immediately- this cartoon (and basically the face of the channel) is not new at all, it's from 2013, so they aren't innovating really. And then, coming from someone with a sister who is 5 years younger than me, I can tell you there's value in the tone of older shows, and the fact that -while still mainly for a very young demographic- they appeal to older kids and young teens. It can get you more viewers from a not intended audience, popularize the show more organically on the internet (posts, memes, fanart) or word of mouth and, if you are putting something valuable or meaningful into it, carry on the show's name and legacy (which, while obviously sentimentality isn't strictly a marketing goal, it's a boon for the creators and everyone working on the show).
Old isn't inherently bad, just like new isn't automatically good. I truly think they're doing their channel a disservice and that's something worth talking about, even if their decisions are getting them the green.
Sorry if your comment was not that serious, I just took it as a jumping point for my thoughts.

Using a Make-a-Wish child to make a bitter, salty call-out episode because you're shitty that people don't like your show is an unbelievably low blow. Seriously, I thought people were just mad at the show because it has toilet humor and is way worse than the original (which is entirely fair) but that's downright malicious.
It's not just a low blow... it's like hacking off someone's feet just because their hand brushed up against you in a packed bus.
But the pettiness and critic callouts however just make me wonder if we live rent free in their head... they could just as easily ignore us and continue down their path.
But all that aside, the biggest reason this show gets a lot of warranted disdain isn't a fault of the show itself. If it was exclusively on a streaming service where it is easy to ignore it probably would've gotten only a few seasons... but no, it's on TV and nearly half of CN's daytime programming slots, even getting full blown marathons during weeks where other shows were getting new episodes dropped.
yeah that's legitimately disgusting to me, if I was a member of that kid's family i would seriously threaten to due the creators and CN over allowing that kid to be used like that.
If I’m not mistaken, another thing that is absolutely horrifying and upsetting is that the ONE line that Wally T voiced ended up getting replaced with Tara Strong in the end. I heard Cartoon Network wouldn’t allow the episode to air because Wally T hadn’t been “an approved cast member” and thus they had to have Tara Strong do the line in order to actually put the episode on TV. That is so beyond upsetting I can’t even
@@aquarsene1747that sounds unnecessary, and it makes me think a law led to this decision
I didn't know it was a Make-a-Wish thing and just thought is was calling out their audience when it aired. I was in my late teens at the time and was like, "Yes Raven is my favorite Titan, but why'd you have to make it weird?"
"Can't stand the competition" There is no competition, they've literally taken all the slots, THEN they have regular Go marathons on top of that.
It’s obvious why the show is still around. It’s because it’s pretty much all they have left. They focused so much on TTG that they pretty much just let all of their other shows fall to the wayside.
And by the time they realized it, it was too late for anyone to care anymore. Now they’re pretty much known as just the “TTG Network”.
The make-a-wish episode is disgusting. Using that kid in their petty jabs at critics is bad enough, but the flirtatious scenes are just uncomfortable. Ew.

Not just that, but the way they act ALSO teaches children to respond to criticism with *mockery* or degradation. The reason why Adventure Time, Steven Universe and Regular Show ended was because there was no more story left to tell or directions the writers wanted to take with the characters. The reason Teen Titans Go still exists is because it has no story or developing characters so it's way easier to write for. It also doesn't take a TAWOG level of effort or passion to create each episode. These two things are what make it the perfect money making show. It's like the "Minions" of Cartoon Network.
Honestly, even the Minions are better than TTG, and that's saying a lot.

Teen titans go!(2004) by J torres
I've never watched Teen Titans Go, and i have no problem with its existence by itself. The problem is that instead of using its popularity and the popularity of the og show to boost a revival, they refuse to do it. The continuation of the reboot becomes a sick joke, rubbing on our face that we're not gonna get an ending for the show we love.
TTG actually got CN in Sweden to show reruns of the original show during one of the marathons, so they did give it attention. The question is how many people actually watched it and if it actually was popular at all.
@@DantesGrill I always wonder if to these companies the popularity and monetary gains of the shows really make them more likely to order more seasons. I remember when paperwork of the CW channel got leaked, and they never made a single profit in 10 years. All their shows except 1-2 had bad ratings, but they were buying new seasons no matter what.
@@attilamarics3374 That's true. Is renewed shows actually random though? Kind of feel like a lot of it is to fill time slots too so I'd assume a lot of it goes into it besides ratings. Would make sense for TTG to keep getting renewed too. It's a show made for reruns, unlike Adventure Time etc.
I don't hate Teen Titans Go, This show actually made my childhood so I love it.
The thing is that the Register guy says that it is supposed to be a show for kids, but why does he just assume that kids can only consume dumb stuff like that? Kids can have deep stories too, stories where characters develop, stories that have maturer topics.
Welcome to "The Animation Age Ghetto", a mindset held by Boomers and Gen X who grew up with cheap slop that assumes that cartoons can *only* be dumb, mindless entertainment, and will actively warp the medium to fit their worldview because they have the power to do so.

The reboot never got a laugh out of me as far as I could remember, but it was something to pass the time at first.
What made me despise it was it’s near monopolization of the daytime schedule. I got so tired of seeing teen titans that I instinctively would always groan and switched off when it came on. Whether you want to admit it or not, TTG was the downfall of CN. The show was pushed too much on the networks time slots, giving other shows less chance to air and thus getting cancelled. The show influenced other creators to copy its success, which is how we ended up with terrible remakes such as Ben 10 and the Power puff girls (which was later confirmed to have been created by a pedophile). This show started a bad trend of lazy writing, lazy art, lazy animation and insulting the viewers. When your viewer agrees with your villain despite emphasising that they shouldn't, you failed as a writer (The 4th wall breaking episode on TTG)
The Network is a husk of its former self at this point. It's just saddening to watch it crash and burn like that

imo you can break it down to: teen titans had substance as a show, teen titans go does not. calling teen titans serious isn't accurate, the show just knew when to be goofy and when to be serious, where teen titans go doesn't
teen titans go is like spongebob. It doesn't need to be serious - its a cartoon for kids. Not every cartoon needs to be serious its okay for a show to be a comedy or a parody. I think TTG is a clever parody, the original show was already uh I dont know the word really like a "for kids" version of teen titans with a lot of things kept out of the story to keep it light and appropriate for a teen audience, and thats fine, just like I think its fine to use those characters for a completely comedic cartoon for kids. I like that TTG isnt just another boring ass reboot of the same and instead its just a dumb humour show. We don't need another teen titans for kids, because teen titans for kids already exists, and it's just redundant or unneccessary. Its honestly the only cartoon I watched today that has any vibe at all like spongebob, more so than current spongebob even, and I find a lot of in universe references they make funny. Guess it just depends if you like that type of humour or not.
I would love to see an even darker adaptation of teen titans like with raven how she is more in the comics, allof them really are pretty different and I would love to see a faithful adaptation to the comics and not just a "kids show that can be serious sometimes" but the thing is they can all exist simultaneously and I feel real fans of the franchise could enjoy them instead of hating something for not being another dull nostalgia bait reboot. I actually like the show cause its pretty funny and know some other people who grew up watching TT who find TTG funny even if we aren't really watchers of the show, its a dumb little show like spongebob except theres a lot of jokes and references to characters we like from other dc media. Not taking your show seriously, and dogging on your critics can only get you so far. Even though TTG is still running despite everything you said, I find it funny that it's more forgettable than much better shows and even better reboots (aka Ducktales 2017). I guess when you take your show seriously, appeal to fans of the original (if it's a reboot), not spam it everywhere, and not constantly criticize your viewers/haters/whatever for watching your show, your show tends to be more memorable.
When you spam people, not take things seriously, and cricize everyone around you who may or may not agree (critics, onlookers, etc) with no sign of stopping, people tend to tune you out, push you away, and go somewhere else. That's what TTG is and that's what Velma is about to be.
