Thank you for your honesty, really appreciate it. Getting harder and harder to find reviews like yours. Keep staying true to yourself man. Great video
Thanks bro! I really appreciate your comment! That means a lot! Thanks for your support!
Now this is a high-quality review!!! Very informative and honest👍
Thanks a lot! That’s quite the compliment! 👍
Just got my EFX cover today for my 2021 GMC Sierra. Thanks for this and your earlier video. I will install mine tomorrow if the weather permits. Thanks again.
That’s great! Thanks for watching (both videos) I really appreciate it! Let me know how it goes.
Also make sure to keep the paperwork just in case you have any issues 👍
Thank you! I’m doing my research now to purchase my 1st TC so your video is truly helpful! Aloha from Colorado!
Thanks for watching! I love Colorado!! Was out there first time Skiing this past summer at Loveland Ski Area!

Awesome review. Thanks for taking the time to do it!
You’re very welcome! Im happy to do it! Thanks for the compliment and thanks for watching!!
Thank you for this video. Shopping for a tonneau currently. I like the fact that they backed up their product by sending you a new one.

I agree, and the second cover was a lot better than the original…however… just let me know what you think after watching the next one.
Thanks again for watching!!
My gator efx cover just arrived this weekend, and Im installing it while watching your video, right now. Good job with your videos and future videos. I have liked, and subscribed. Thanks for sharing!
That’s awesome! Congrats on the new cover! I’m happy that I could help! Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks for your support!

Great video sir! No BS unboxing. Very fair assessment of this. I just bought a 2023 GMC 1500 Denali truck. I want a hard cover but I have no idea what I’m doing! You have been very helpful.
Awesome! Glad I could help! Congrats on the new Denali!! Awesome trucks! I think this is a fair cover based on the price and for the security alone! Let me know what decide!
(By the way, I did the BS unboxing in the previous video!!) 😂 😂 lol
Compared a lot of covers before watching this video. Going to go with the EFX, thank you for the detailed video!
You’re very welcome! Happy I could help! Let me know what you think about it me you get it
Good video. I was seriously considering this cover. Gator appears to be a good company. With that said I wanted full bed access on my F150. I opted for the more expensive FX3. Just ordered it yesterday. Looking forward to receiving and installing the cover. Your review and account of Gator customer service moved me in the direction of the FX3 over other manufacturers. These covers are a huge investment. It’s refreshing to hear when a company stands behind their products. Have a Merry Christmas.
Congrats on your purchase and Thanks a lot!! I think you made a good choice! I would have rather gotten the FX also to have access to the entire bed. Let me know how it goes when you install and your thoughts on it!! Thanks for watching!
And Merry Christmas to you too!!
Looks like a quality product as far as durability! Great review! I like that you are honest!
Thanks so much!! I try to give my honest opinions, hopefully it helps people out!
this is a really great review. Thanks for this amazing video!!!
Thanks so much for the comment and for watching!!! 👍

I just got my Gator efx cover for a 6.7 bed it's still in the box I will be installing asap however your video was great looking forward to the update on the new cover
Awesome bro! Glad I could help! Let me know how the install goes for you!
Just ordered the EFX for my Ram a few days ago. Thanks for your video I will know what to look out for!
You’re very welcome! That’s great! Hopefully my issues were just an isolated situation, but I recommend keeping your paperwork just in case. Thanks so much for watching!
Did you have problems with the brackets that hold the side rails?

Thanks a lot! God bless you too!! Let me know how it goes when you get it! 👍
Great informative video. I just purchased the exact same cover for my 2020 Chevy Colorado. I haven't installed it yet. I am definitely concerned with any water getting into the bed of my truck. Great information and keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot for the comment! Congrats on the new cover! The water has been minimal, just make sure it’s lined up properly and come back and retighten after a few months. (I need to do it too) Once you get it installed, let me know what you think and if any water is getting in. Thanks for watching! 👍
Thank you for the honest review, I was planning on buying one but I ended up buying the rough country bed cover
No problem! Thanks for watching! How do you like the rough country cover so far??
Just bought this cover. Thank you for sharing your experience! Hopefully mine fits like your second cover.
I hope do too!! How’s it going so far??
@@MeAndCarKeys so far so good! Had some trial and error getting the tolerances right, but now it’s working as intended.
I have been watching tonneau cover videos for the past week, and I must commend you on this one. Fantastic info, and great presentation. Looking forward to more of your content.
Thanks so much!! That means a lot to me for you to say that!! Thanks for watching!
I do have to say, you did a great job with your descriptions of all the Pros and Cons.
The Gator FX3 does fold up all the way. None of the companies who sell these type of covers say they are waterproof. You'll always get water in from the sides of the tailgate. The water line on the box isn't an acurate perception of water. That box has probably gotten wet several times. That was not from just one rainfall. Cardboard soaks up water until it stops and then dries out. The longer it stays wet, the higher the water mark will be. As far as the price, the cheapest one I have found that's as good as this one is nearly $1000.00. The other one i'm looking at is almost $1200.00. It's not because the prices have gone up. I started pricing these covers over a year ago, the prices haven't changed much. They were just as expensive a year ago as they are now. I priced this exact cover for my 2019 GMC, it's $729.00. You got a good deal on it. I didn't choose this one for the main reason that it doesn't fold all the way up to the cab. So it really isn't a Tri-fold cover. It's a bi-fold cover. It's actually a false advertisement.
I had an A.R.E. hard tonneau cover on my 2009 GMC and loved it, except when I needed something in the front of my bed. I had to crawl over everything to get what I needed.
I thought I responded to you earlier. Thanks for your comment! I agree, I actually mentioned some of the things you said in my follow up video especially about the box! Thanks for that! It makes perfect sense. Did you ever get a cover?
I’m glad I watched your video. I’m going to find a different cover. Thanks!
😂 happy I could help! It’s still a good option though. The replacement is holding up a lot better
Got the same one as you. Thanks for the info!
Awesome! How is your holding up so far?? Thanks for watching
Awesome cover protection love the security type material protects your items from criminal love it bro
Exactly!! Just gives a peace of mind!
My husbands truck had the hard covering. The only thing I hated was wen I took it to the store (sliding the packages). 😂 Ayyeee now that’s a fancy foldable one. ❤️you really take good care of your vehicle.
Yeah that’s always an issue. Then having to jump up there to get all your stuff! 😂 thanks a lot for your comment and thanks for watching!
Awesome job reviewing this EFX cover. I just purchased one for my 2020 Ranger, I wanted a hard top cover and decided last week it was time. Definitely a con with the last 1/3 section not able to pivot, I bring my mountain bikes out and usually just put them in the bed, I'll have to use my bike rack 100% of the time now, but not a big deal.
Thanks a lot! It’s a good cover! The 1/3 section is definitely a con, but good that you have a bike rack! I’ve found ways around it too and if it’s really an issue, I just take the top off but leave the clamps attached to the truck. Congrats on your purchase! Let me know if you have any questions
@BoilerUp HammerDown I’m also looking at hard covers for my 2020 Ford Ranger. What are you overall thoughts regarding this cover? Would you recommend?
Helpful video! Thank you!
You’re very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Nice video! Thanks for the info.
Thanks a lot! Glad I could help! Thanks for watching and for the comment!
I have one that is a tri-fold like yours (not the one I ordered), I ordered one that opens all the way up. The only problem is I have a small leak in each corner when I go thru a carwash, besides that no other issues as of yet. The on that I had ordered was around $750.00 and now it is "currently unavailable"' so this one will do for now and I runs around $100.00 cheaper. I will keep checking to see if it is available again and when it is I will order it and sell the one I have now!
great review, thank you!
Thanks a lot! Happy I could help! Thanks for watching
To answer your closing question, I have a Back country, tri-fold soft cover. And it actually got destroyed yesterday by one seriously nasty wind gust. It was so crazy that the cover curled over the can and smacked the windshield! No idea how it didn't shatter it, and crazier war my gf was in a parking lot, in the truck when it happened. So that's why why I started watching reviews, as mine is completely ruined.
Thanks again, good review!
What!?!? Sorry about the cover but happy that’s your gf is ok and that it didn’t damage your windshield. We had a strange wind storm here in Atlanta yesterday too! 🤔 lasted about 30 mins. How was the soft cover doing for you before? Did it keep the bed dry?
@@MeAndCarKeys hello, so really it was doing good, easy to use and it did keep the bed dry. Even in a drive thru car wash. One big drawback is after contacting them via email, I did not receive a response but I did start getting spam every single day since. And this is in my professional email that only is used for work and companies i need to contact. So that's my experience with "shall not be named" company lol
Oh wow nice review yes that box don't get damage inside it for months, nice 👍👍👍
Thanks a lot! Thanks for watching! 👍
Thank you for the comprehensive review. Based on your review, I just ordered one. I just want to suggest something about the water infiltration issue. Those plastic round covers for the front access holes should really be installed. There is a lot of splash that can get into the bed from there. Most installation instructions say to drill a hole in the plastic plug to pass the drain hose through. I will even use some silicone there when I install mine. Again, thanks for the great review.
Sup!! Thanks for watching! You mean the holes in the drop in bed liner? I didn’t even think about that!! 😂 I need to replace mine; they’re deformed and won’t stay in place.
Thanks for the feedback! Let me know what you think of the cover once you get it installed! 👍
Your intro is so cool, I’m tuned in! 🙌🏾
Thanks much!! You are the first and only person who mentioned the intro! I spent a long time on that one so I appreciate it much! 😀

Glad it helped!! Thanks for the comment! 👍 #motivationcrew
I have watched this video and the follow up video in my researching a cover for our new truck. I'm impressed with this cover at this price and that Gator sent a replacement cover! My comment is a that I think the water damage to the box is actually the box soaking up water from below not from above. Probably the water in the truck box is minimal but the bit that was there soaked up into the cardboard just like a paper towel on a spill.
Thanks for watching and for the comment! That does make sense, especially since the box was in there for so long. And now seeing that the water was only coming in from the corner. Great observation!
Great video man...I just got this same cover, installing tomorrow on my 2024 Ram 1500. Hopefully your second cover and my first don't have the issues that the first one you got did!
Thanks a lot! I appreciate you watching! Well… let’s just say I had to make another video on it..ua-cam.com/video/Wh3aB4EzOUs/v-deo.htmlsi=GKXMvUWl2JmsaJPn
Let me know what you think!! 😂
@@MeAndCarKeys I wish I watched both videos before buying this, lol. I just got it installed and it looks great. A couple things I'm not crazy about are the seal at both front corners as it doesn't sit tight like everywhere else AND the fact that there is much more give then I expected at the tailgate. It only covers it by maybe a 1/2" and you can get your fingers in there and raise it a little. I can definitely see how water is going to get in...guess I'll see how it goes.
@@skypax_2285 lol I wish I could just put the videos together so that everyone would see them. Do you have a drop in bed liner? Several people have said that it may be why my cover doesn’t sit properly. The it definitely shouldn’t be that much room especially by the tailgate.
Within the first minute I'm already like snap... Cuz I been looking at this same cover. Alright time to continue the review!
This was a good review, real world, real use driven. I also use affirm, and I'm currently using them for a watch in fact. I suggest them as well.
My only quandary is i don't think you're bed had that much water sitting in it. But i definitely do think it had leaking issues for sure. Keep in mind that paper absorbs water rapidly. It will climb up quickly on a box in even a small amount. That box looks like a long series of leaks getting in, which is unfortunate for sure for the truck owners with this cover. But their customer service is legit af. That makes me want one i think even over the last ones I was interested in.
I can't blame them for wanting a destruction video, makes them feel good about staying good with their customers.
Thank you for the review, very thorough, I wish more people would do longevity reviews. Rock & Roll, Mack!! \m/
Thanks a lot for the comment!! The way you explained the water on the box makes a lot of sense! Especially considering where the cracks and spaces were in the cover.
They’re customer service is awesome! They kept in touch with me every step of the way. I would suggest getting the cover that fully opens up. This EFX only opens 3/4 of the bed. Let me know what you end up getting and how it works for you! Thanks again for the comment
Good review. Thought about getting this cover for my truck ('22 Tundra) . Gator says it will open all the way. If I do end up going with it, I will call and confirm. It is cheaper than the others. The old cliche "you get what you pay for" comes to mind, so I'll have to weight it out vs the $900 covers.
My first tonneau cover was for my '07 Tacoma. Paid about $350 for a knockoff Backflip style hard cover. It did it's job, but now that I've had a nicer cover, I realized it really wasn't that great. Had similar issues as you. Wasn't that water proof and also, when I would shovel off the snow, the rubber seams got cut up by the shovel (lesson learned) and that further lead to additional water getting in. My next truck '19 Tundra, I went with a Gatortrax cover. I liked it a lot. Well made, but paid about $1250 for it. A little harder to slide open than the videos showed, but wasn't really an issue. The biggest issue was that it took up about a 12"x12" x 6'w portion of the front of my bed, real estate I lost. Also, I would constantly slam the cover of it with my skis and longer garden type tools, dinging it up. I know, it's a truck, but still. So now I'm thinking going back to a flip cover, but a traditional open only from the rear. I'll compare videos of this one to other pricier ones now that I've seen this video. So thanks for posting it.
A couple things of note while watching your video. The reason you get better milage is due to the reduction in wind resistance, particularly on the highway. I believe that fuel savings also has to do with the rough nature of the top of the cover. A smooth surface in the rear of your truck actually performs worse from what I hear, has something to do with turbulent vs linear flow. If you're getting the 5% better fuel economy, you're saving about $100/yr (if you drive 12,000 mi/yr @ $2.50/gal). Another thing, make sure your drain pipes work as they're supposed to. Hose off the cover with the gate open and search for leaks. Another thing, for things coming loose (like the part at the tailgate), use a 2 part epoxy like jb weld. Find one that doesn't set brittle, but has a little give. I believe you're better off fixing these mInor issues on your own instead of dealing with the manufacturer. One final thing, I've noticed I get more water intrusion when the water drains towards the cab as opposed to the tail gate (based on the slope of your driveway, have your tires on the uphill side, but YMMV depending upon your truck and cover. Some covers fit some beds better than others.
Thanks ALOT for this comment! Sorry for the late reply. You provided a lot of good information!
I agree you get what you pay for, next time I’m looking to get a Roll N Lock retractable cover. It’s also around the $1200 range but it may be worth it. Great advice on the Jb Weld;
I actually have some in the garage! Interesting about the drains. I’m also wondering whether the bedliner is a contributor or not it may also be restricting water in certain places. It just a drop in type bedliner.
Have you made a decision on one for you 22 Tundra?
Good video 🫡
I have rough country and believe me I have the same problems bro .. and don’t forget they scratch very easy
Thanks much!! You’re right; they scratch easy and it’s fading too!! I think the rough country and Gator have the same manufacturer!! They look very similar. Thanks for the comment! 🫡

Yeah I figured the same thing. They never responded to be after that. Lol I left it for the trash pickup.
Excellent Review!!

I’m waiting on the cons because this is dope to me 💛✨
I appreciate it!….but those cons 😔
I bought the Gator FX for my 2022 tacoma. The gator fx allows me the full use of my truck bed. I get a little water penatration, but that's due to the toyota bed top rail design, and sometimes there are driving rains. I'm pleased with it.
Thanks for the input, I really wanted to hear from someone who owns one. Glad you’re happy with the cover. Is the water coming in from the same spot as mine?
When the water gets in, it appears to be in the front left and right corners of the bed. I don't consider that a design flaw of the bed cover but rather just the nature of the tacoma bed design that has gaps there. Gator does include foam pads to help reduce any water penatration. Your f150 bed corners may be designed differently. The tacoma has a composite bed and metal at the top corners.Hope this helps
@@goldblueberries326 thanks a lot m, yes that does help to hear from someone with a different truck! Water gets in my truck the same way which makes me think that these covers are more universal instead of truck specific like they market it as. Overall I’m happy with mine as well. Thanks for the comment
I love your video, thanks for a very informative view on this.
I'm shopping for covers now for my 2019 Silverado. I want hard for the same reasons you mention. Been looking at the ROugh Country which near as I can tell is basically the same as your Gator. I would prefer if the last section near the bed folded up, or could be quickly removed. Considering a retractable, but hate to go into debt for this right now.
Thanks for watching and for the comment! You’re absolutely correct, from what I’ve seen, the Gator and Rough Country are exactly the same. (That’s what I was hinting at when I mentioned the manufacturer) Gator does offer one that folds open entirely, the FX, but it is more expensive. I too wanted the retractable cover with the remote but I couldn’t imagine spending $1200 for a cover. This Gator is still a good cover despite the issues. Let me know what you decide. Thanks again for watching
Trail fx has been amazing. 5 star

Got the same one, great review! Honest!! Not like the sponsored folks
Thanks a lot!! And thanks for the comment! lol how is your cover holding up?
.7 MPG in these days will pay for the cover in a few fill ups haha, thanks for the video.. I cant believe how stressful it is to research truck bed covers.
😂 lol! That’s true!!!! Yeah I think I should have done a bit more research! But this one isn’t bad. It’s a lot better than the origibal
Good review. I have one on my F150. I recommend closing the tailgate first, then drop the cover to protect the seal over the tailgate.
Thanks a lot!! I appreciate the tip! How has your cover been holding up?
@@MeAndCarKeys Mines held up great for three years. Sold my F150 for a Tundra and installed another EFX (different bed length) on it. Tundra is a 6.5 bed but the tonneau quality is the same. My second EFX from Gator and I'm very pleased. Wish my F150 held up as well as the tonneau lol.
JB weld that trim piece. My issue was with the mounting brackets and my Ram bed. Those brackets are pretty worthless because the lip under the rim of the bed is less than 1/2”, so there’s not much for the brackets to clamp onto. I had to painfully drill into the lip of the truck bed, making this semi-permanent.
Thanks for the comment! Great advice on the trim piece. I’ll try that out. I notice it’s shifting some. You had to drill into the truck?! How is yours on the water leaking in?
It’s been raining pretty heavy here and we’re in and out of the truck bed a lot, so if there’s water in there that could have plenty to do with it. I’ll have to look more closely.
Realtruck says always to close tailgate before latching final section in place, i noticed you closed your tailgate while the cover was latched but very good review
Thanks a lot! Yes several people have called me out on that! Lol I didn’t know any better. But I always make sure I close the tailgate first now. Thanks for watching!
Glad it feels more solid than the other one. NHY to you x
Thanks! Hopefully it works better too! Thanks for watching! 👍
The original one you per just probably was sitting in the warehouse a long time before you got it and that is why it was dusty. Probably a little bit of dry, rot and shrinking on the plastics and rubber from heat. I bought pretty much the same cover from Rough Country and I’m waiting on it to arrive
You’re probably right; That’s what it looked like with all the dust. Congrats on the new cover. Let me know how you like it. They are exactly the same except for the company badge. Thanks for the comment! #motivationcrew
Great video ty
Thanks very much! Thanks for watching! #motivationcrew
Nice review of this cover. All tonneau covers are going to allow some amount of water into the bed. Looking at the cardboard box in your bed, it looks like it has absorbed water over time, and the water wasn't actually to the level of the line on the box. If you plan to keep items in your bed regularly, I would keep them in a waterproof container to prevent any water damage in the future. Also, you can trim the excess bulkhead seal that extends beyond each sideof your cover.
Thanks a lot! And thanks for the advice! I see what you mean about the box. It was in the back for a long time so that makes a lot of sense. I think the waterproof container idea may be the way to go!! Thanks again!
Thanks for the honest review! I had a rough country top mount tri-fold hard cover. Had some miner bodywork done and the body shop removed it and forgot to reinstall it before I drove away. The second I reached the turnpike it flew off. So I called them, they were so sorry for it that they bought me a new one but it is the flush mount. Not sure I like that. It looks good but all the rubber, needed drainage, seals may not last? Not too sure I like the swap. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks for watching! If your flush mount is also Rough Country, it’s similar to mine, they have the same manufacturer. The rubber seals are good; the only issue is that they don’t stay in place, but long as you retighten everything every six months or so, you’ll be good. The drainage has been an issue but it’s very minimal getting into the truck bed. Sorry to hear about your original cover. It’s good that the shop tried to make it right.
Thanks for the review. I'm looking at folding tonneau covers and found your video very helpful. One question, what engine does your truck have? I have the 5.0 and would love to get 19 mpg 😁
😂 I wish I had the 5.0 for the power!! I have a 3.5 V6 (non-ecoboost) so it doesn’t even have turbos. 😞 but it’s a great truck still!! thanks for watching! Happy I could help!!
Have one just like that and transferred it to my new high country. Never really minded about not going all the way open, was very weary of the ones that lean on the cab.
That’s a Good point!! Probably don’t need anything resting on my back window. That’s good that you could transfer it to another truck! Have you had any water issues?
@@MeAndCarKeys never really seals complete. A little water at the back during downpours

@@MeAndCarKeys so far so good. Took about an hour and some change to install (I'm meticulous and watch videos). It took a bit to shim it on the sides. Love the security and completely folding open. So easy to use my 10 year old loves it
@@chrissmith8711 😂 I understand that! My 5 year old loves mine too! She just likes to play under it!
One of my main complaints about it is the weather stripping at the front near the cab. It let's in water so I'll contact Gator and see what they say.
@@chrissmith8711 ok so same issue as my cover. They are good on customer service! Let me know how it goes for you.
I was looking at this and the rough country. This had features I liked but the Rough country has a 5 year warranty and claims to be weatherproof. This is supposed to be made in the USA. RC in China. The removal of this I like but reports of leaking bothers me. Great video. I subbed.
Thanks for subscribing and for watching! Which do you like most? That 5 year warranty from RC makes a big difference and it’s waterproof?? I may look into the RC too! Thanks for the comment! #motivationcrew
I bought a similar gator cover to the one you have for my tundra 5 years ago. The panels are now sagging & the aluminum sheets that compose the exterior of the cover have completely separated from whatever the material is internally (my guess is particle board). I never had any issues with leaking water or gaps at the edges. However, the rails that allow the locking clips to latch make my plastic bed ledge protectors rise up making them appear beveled time to time. I have to go around the bed and pound them down so they sit flush again. It doesn’t affect the function of the tonneau cover in any way but it’s a nuisance nonetheless. Aside from that, I’m thinking I’m going to get the hard plastic cover this time from gator. Although I like the appearance of this model (sleeker) I have to imagine the polymer one will last longer than 5yrs.
I’m sure that is very annoying. Is it something that can be fixed?
It’s good that you don’t have any water issues; seems like most people don’t have any.
My dad suggested to me one of the plastic ones you’re talking about, but I agree I like the sleek look a lot better.
I actually want a retractable cover, but I can’t imagine paying $1200 for it! Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment

No it can’t be fixed unfortunately. It’s toast. Just bought the gator tailback today. Should last a bit longer.
Normally you cut the rubber/foam piece they give you to the length of your bulkhead (front of the bed of the truck) that way the seal lays flat on the bulkhead and the side of the truck. Maybe give that a shot if you're still getting water in it.
I thought about that, but since it was longer on this one than my previous cover, I thought it was longer on purpose. I’ll try that, Thanks for the advice!
great vid. Nice watch too.
Thanks a lot! Thanks for watching
Gator EFX and so far I have been very fortunate to not have had any issues with it.
That’s awesome! Very good to hear that. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
So just some pointers I want to give. This is exactly like my Rough County cover. 1st thing I did was got better weather stripping up at the front of the bed. I took that one off that the manufacturer sends. Also I have the same bed liner in my truck. Those bed liners do not have a perfect 90 degree angle like the bed itself does. So therefore the rails will not set all the way against the front of the bed like it should. That allows leaks. Also there is a small gap where the bedliner and the bed rail caps don't meet at the front of the bed. There is a small gap on each side right where the bed liner goes over the front of the bed. I took 2 small pieces of the weather stripping I used along the front of the bed and placed inside these 2 gaps. It did not fix the leaking 100% bit made it 10 times better.
Awesome tips bro!! That’s good stuff! I will do the same as well. I did notice how flimsy the foam stripping is in the front. I could probably even trim some of the plastic bedliner and see if it’s a bit more flush. Thanks a lot for the ideas!!
Sucks when you spend that kind of money and have issues. My “ Backflip “ brand trifold cover was 900 , but it’s built just a little bit better and the portion closest to the cab opens up so you can use the whole bed. I need to check my fuel mileage and see what I’m getting, would be interesting to see if it’s lower with 20” wheels. Did you notice one of your white lights on the third brake light is out? Looked like the drivers side wasn’t working. Hope you and the family have a great Christmas this weekend, thanks for the content, hope that new cover works out better for you.
Maybe I should have looked into a Bakflip instead! I’ve heard good things about them.
Yes please check your mpg. I’d also like to know if 20’ rims make a difference.
Yes, that light bulb has gone out several times, I’m just tired of replacing it. May upgrade the entire housing to an all LED. 🤔
Thanks so much for the comment Jimmy! You and your family, Enjoy your Christmas as well!
For the past year I have been seen reviews on tonneau covers on UA-cam in order to decide which cover to buy for my 2022 Ford Maverick. It has come down to three, Gator, Roll n Lock and Under Cover Ultra Flex. I’m surprised that Gator had these with these flaws. Thx for the vid.
Thanks for watching!! Congrats on the Maverick! 👍
I was surprised by the issues too, but according to Gator it was just an isolated incident. I know a few people with the same cover; some have had the same and some say no issues at all. Let me know what you end up getting!
The Caribbean sun is atrocious on rubber dow here, I need to find a tonneau cover that can sustain the heat, without wilting .
Thanks for the run down man. I think I’ll roll the dice on one. I can’t spend 1500 on one.
No problem bro! I with you on that! I wanted a remote retractable cover but I couldn’t imagine spending that much on it! Let me know how it goes for you!! Thanks for watching
The increase in fuel economy is probably due to the fact that the cover is making the truck more aerodynamic. Wind isn't getting trapped in the bed as it simply glidesover the cover in the back.
I helped my friend install one of these in her truck and it did not look as easy as you make it seem!!!
Thanks!! I think only because I’ve had to install and uninstall so many times! 😂
I’m actually thinking about buying this one. Hopefully it still is holding up.
It’s a great option especially for the price. It’s still holding up great!! Still get the slight leak in the bed, but I’ve learned to work around it. Let me know what you decide! Thanks for watching
Hey I would opt for trifold for full access. I want a Heavy Duty hard bed cover made to secure what’s in bed. I’m not going to be using the top of cover to haul anything. This covers go from $600-$1300 dollars. A Diamond Back or Renegade go for $3000 . I would pay $1500-$2000 for a Top Notch made cover to secure my truck bed. I’m checking out several others one being BakFlip trifold. Companies can and should make better hard covers because there are plenty of interested customers.
Excellent video tutorial
It was actually a mistake. I thought this one was trifold, but it’s not. It’s still an all around good cover especially for safety. Bakflip is a good brand! They also offer a nice retractable cover that I heard good things about. Let me know what you decide. Thanks for watching and for the comment!!
I saw a gator fx that folds all the way up that id be interested in
I recommend that Gator Fx! It opens all the way and gives you full access to your bed. That’s actually what I THOUGHT I was ordering!! 😂 Lol my mistake
Gator fx opens fully, its 200$ more but you gain full access
Yeah I actually mixed it up, I thought the EFX was the one that opened up all the way, until I installed it. But it’s all good, I didn’t want to pay any extra. Thanks for the comment
@@MeAndCarKeys thanks for the review! Nice video
Glad you got the hard secure one cause most ppl dont
That’s true! The cloth type is very thin so it’s not secure at all
Great review! I'm shopping now for my 2020 GMC Sierra, they run $750 which you right is not cheap. I'll shop a little more, can you tell me how you like it after a year since you posted this video?
Thanks a lot for watching!! Yeah they aren’t cheap which was surprising to me for a cover. I still like it, it does what it’s supposed to do for safety and is very durable. The water is still leaking in but very minimal. I also had to go back and tighten it down but that’s to be expected. Let me know what you decide to do! Thanks for the comment
I wonder if you're getting water by the bulkhead where you put the seal down on the sides. They recommend not using that seal if you have a bed liner.
You’re the second person who said that. I’ll remove it and see if that makes a difference. I remember, the directions didn’t mention that seal. I just assumed it was supposed to be installed. lol thanks for the advice! #motivationcrew
I just purchased the Gator EFX hard cover and received it. Waiting to install on my Ford F-150 Thanks for your video- will help me watch for issues. You did a great job covering key issues and so impressed you covered replacement. Will e curious how the replacement holds up and whether it resolved issues you had seen on first cover
Thank you!
Thanks for watching and for your comment! The new cover is much better than the original. It’s a lot sturdier and keeps water out much better. There’s still some water getting in, but it’s very minimal; coming in at the tailgate.
Let me know how your install goes and if you like the cover!!
Thanks for the video. I'm doing my research now on these and was liking what I saw on these Gators. But now I'm not sure. How about an update on the replacement. Is this one better? Is it leaking like the first one? Thanks.
Sorry for the late response. It’s a good option for a cover. The leaking is still there, but MUCH less than the original cover. I will do an update video on it. I need to make sure to retighten it down every 6 months or so. Let me know what you decide. Thanks for watching
I like how you did the pros and cons, did that trim piece come off near the tailgate like the first one?
Thanks a lot!! No, the trim piece is still intact. I was also given advice close the tailgate first, then close the cover to help keep it in place. Thanks for watching and for the comment
I have owned 2 Gator covers and you are correct. Gator stands behind their products.
Awesome bro! I agree, they’re customer service is definitely commendable. Have you had any issues with any of your Gator covers? Thanks for the comment!
@@MeAndCarKeys that's good to hear I'm about to place an order for a soft tri fold I have real expectations for what I'm paying it will keep 90% of the stuff in my bed dry the other stuff keep it off the bottom of bed or in the truck I guess
@@mikerayle6103 awesome bro! Let me know how the soft cover goes especially with the water
Also you said water is getting in there, whenever I was putting the rails on I've noticed they weren't sitting flush and after inspecting it for a while I seen at the plastic lining at the very end was keeping the rail from laying flat after trimming some of it off it lay perfectly flat, try looking at the plastic trim on yours cause it might be keeping it from laying down all the way flat
Gotcha! Thanks for the feedback! Do you mean plastic trim or the actual plastic bed liner?
Now that you mention it, I think my plastic bed liner is sitting under the plastic trim which may be an issue. Thanks again! I’ll look into it!
@MeAndCarKeys the bed liner my apologies I should've cleared it up,and yeah in your video I've noticed it sitting on it
I bought mine and just installed it. I just heard thunder too. Let’s see how it does bro!
Awesome bro!! 😂 it’s actually thundering here too! 😂 Yeah let me know how it does! Thanks for watching
Great video, I was unsure of weather or not to get one. Watched this and decided not to. Thank you!
Thanks a lot! Glad I could help! What other covers are you considering??
@@MeAndCarKeys Honestly I'm going to take my chances with the roll top soft topper. As I rarely keep anything of value in the back just occasionally need the rear cover to keep luggage dry when traveling
Heyy fam tuning in ✨✨
Thanks for stopping by! 👍
Hey I like cover. They probably upgraded it if it’s few faults but I need to have full access. Maybe the Trifold covers out there. How’s it holding up for everyone Excellent video tutorial
Thanks for the comment. They do offer a real trifold. It’s the FX model. You get 90% of the space when fully open. Thanks for watching
i just bought a Gator FX3 Tonneau Cover and watched your video hoping to get some install tips, looks like it will install similar to yours. Did you have to cut away any of the plastic bed liner to install the 4 rail brackets?
Congrats on your new cover! And I’m happy you got the FX3 instead since it opens all the way. No I didn’t have to cut at all; there is plenty enough space to install the brackets. They actually installed with ease. Let me know how it goes for you and if you have any questions, I’m here! Thanks for watching
the drop in bed liner has no drain holes, i never had water in the bed until i got mine.
Interesting…. Mine has 2 holes, but I’m wondering if I drill a few more holes…would that make a difference?? 🤔 thanks for the comment! I’ll try that! #motivationcrew
Great review!!! Did you look at the gator FX3 instead of the Gator EFX?
Thanks a lot! No, I haven’t heard of that one. Is it better than the EFX? I’ll check it out.
Tonneau cover looks good on the truck.......you got better fuel milage because the air is coming down from the cab and hitting a smooth surface without much restriction......with out the cover the air was hitting the middle of the bed and hitting the tail gate.......good luck with everything.....
Ooooo!! Thanks a lot! That makes PERFECT sense!! So aerodynamically, it improves mpg! Makes me wonder why companies don’t offer trucks with them from the factory. They could use that as another selling point.
@@MeAndCarKeys ford did at one time......look up a Lincoln Blackwood......it was a Lincoln truck with a bed covered from the factory.......the tail gate was a split tail gate as well.......also check out a Chevrolet avalanche as well....
@@fearlessfly100 I remember those Blackwoods! I wanted one back in the day! So they only offered it on a “luxury truck?”
@@MeAndCarKeys as far as I know yes.......
I just installed my Gator EFX cover and noticed one thing in your video. You did not install the weatherstripping near the truck cab as per the instructions. It's supposed to be trimmed to fit. I'm not saying this caused leaks...but it could.
