And [We had sent] Lot when he said to his people, "Do you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds? إِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ ٱلرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةً مِّن دُونِ ٱلنِّسَآءِ ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّسْرِفُونَ 81. Indeed, you approach men with desire, instead of women. Rather, you are a transgressing people."
So this is very interesting. This man should create his own religion because he is basically creating the tenets of Muslim faith as he goes, so it's best he leave it (Islam) completely and find his own path. Otherwise, to bastardize his original faith is very insulting indeed. I really think he needs to create his own religion/spirituality that makes him happy. I saw something like a TED talk where the person explains that a mother who goes through difficulty/stress/life threatening experience while pregnant will very likely result in male children being gay. The thought is that nature makes a human who is more emotionally empathetic as well as unable/not interested in having children with women in order for the current family not to be over burdened by new offspring. The gay male will be more helpful in keeping the current family taken care of without making more children. So, even in the womb people are gay.

Religion in secular countries is different with religious countries. In secular countries, people considered religious laws or commitments are personal privacy. In another hand, religious countries forced people follow religious laws through legal system or community pressures.

My Muslim gay friend who learned more about gay in Islam said that the feeling itself is not forbidden but the act is forbidden. You can love with your heart, but you cannot act upon it. It is like a test of life tailored for you, whether you follow your lust or follow your God. But again, one person's deed is their own personal choice. We are all responsible only for our own actions.

Somehow people can't separate the fact that there's a God from the concept of religion. Having a spiritual connection to God is incredibly important for us humans, because we grow depressed & feel incomplete without some form of spirituality. I definitely think we should leave religion behind in the dustbin of history, but at the same time I also wish that people found their connection to God outside of dogma. After all science proves the existence of God better than religion ever could!

A religion is a personal path to healing. Keep it personal and appreciate its personal growth, you'll be alright in your personal definition of peace. A religion is often a threat to peace and compassion when it becomes a political organization that claims to be better than every other religion and society. It's a threat when a religion is used and abused to control its followers with fear and hatred rather than teaching them the necessity to be understanding, kind and inclusive. I am an American Muslim raised among other Muslims and non-Muslims alike. I never claim to be a better Muslim, let alone, a better human being. So, I am learning everyday to be kind to myself first to be kind to others. Learn the basics of a religion and practice the basics with kindness and we will be alright, Inshaallah.

Keep in mind that as a muslim, anything that violates the teaching of the religion should be condemned. BUT, it should not be the reason for us to channel our hatred towards these violators, instead I think it is best for us to keep reminding them that what they are doing is wrong and they should try their best to not do it. If you're a Muslim and into LGBT, that's between you and God. Do not promote your lifestyle and expect people to accept that it's part of Islam. It's not. Islam is very clear about LGBT. Thank you DW for making this doc. As a mainstream Muslim I openly disagree with his actions. From what I understand he's a progressive Muslim-which is quite different from the normal Islam. I can see his intention for making less discrimination on Muslims pride people,but what he did are wrong and not in accordance to mainstream Islam. I think what he should be doing if he want to help the Muslims whose struggling with same sex attraction are to encourage them to go to therapy for gender dysphoria/identity crises,perform prayer(solah) as normal and advice the makmum to really understand that in Islam acting on the urge(to have same sex intercourse) or being a trans(hormones/surgical etc) are haraam, but not in a very pushy way but in a more empathetic way,learning and understanding the Quran and sunnah in the correct way etc. These Muslim brothers and sisters are currently undergoing a heavy and difficult test from Allah and same goes to the mainstream Muslims too in managing the issues(sweeping it under the rug won't solve it). As a Muslim I condemn the act,but we have to treat these people in empathetic manners-i.e they might misunderstood their religions,they might be influenced by some sources or have issues during upbringing,being repeatedly broken hearted by previous bf/gfs or etc. Being too harsh with them in my opinion will make them run away from the true Islamic teaching. I believe there should be a balance between harshness and true sincere empathy in guiding these brothers and sisters back to the correct Islamic path. It is not easy for them to fight the urge inside them and our harshness in treatments towards them will only make it worst and make them more rebellious. I don't know how others see this documentary, but from a Muslim's point of view it is 100% Haram. The imam should be a role model for others. I saw something like a TED talk where the person explains that a mother who goes through difficulty/stress/life threatening experience while pregnant will very likely result in male children being gay. The thought is that nature makes a human who is more emotionally empathetic as well as unable/not interested in having children with women in order for the current family not to be over burdened by new offspring. Religion in secular countries is different with religious countries. In secular countries, people considered religious laws or commitments are personal privacy. In another hand, religious countries forced people follow religious laws through legal system or community pressures.

Keep in mind that as a muslim, anything that violates the teaching of the religion should be condemned. If you're a Muslim and into LGBT, that's between you and God. Do not promote your lifestyle and expect people to accept that it's part of Islam. It's not. Islam is very clear about LGBT. The Quran is already complete and does not need to adapt to the constant change in society standards of lifestyle. Tolerance does not necessarily means better. What matter is the truth. Do a comparative study between all the religious texts from all religions. It's clear to see that the Quran is a divine work. As a mainstream Muslim I openly disagree with his actions.
From what I understand he's a progressive Muslim-which is quite different from the normal Islam.
I can see his intention for making less discrimination on Muslims pride people,but what he did are wrong and not in accordance to mainstream Islam.
I think what he should be doing if he want to help the Muslims whose struggling with same sex attraction are to encourage them to go to therapy for gender dysphoria/identity crises,perform prayer(solah) as normal and advice the makmum to really understand that in Islam acting on the urge(to have same sex intercourse) or being a trans(hormones/surgical etc) are haraam,
but not in a very pushy way but in a more empathetic way,learning and understanding the Quran and sunnah in the correct way etc.
These Muslim brothers and sisters are currently undergoing a heavy and difficult test from Allah and same goes to the mainstream Muslims too in managing the issues(sweeping it under the rug won't solve it).
As a Muslim I condemn the act,but we have to treat these people in empathetic manners-i.e they might misunderstood their religions,they might be influenced by some sources or have issues during upbringing,being repeatedly broken hearted by previous bf/gfs or etc.
Being too harsh with them in my opinion will make them run away from the true Islamic teaching.
I believe there should be a balance between harshness and true sincere empathy in guiding these brothers and sisters back to the correct Islamic path.
It is not easy for them to fight the urge inside them and our harshness in treatments towards them will only make it worst and make them more rebellious.
They are still human after all,deep down inside they know what's right and what's wrong.
