@@bluestar6879 I understand you believe that all Jews are from Israel, but when you look into the history of the area the reason why so many “Arab” peasant farmers in Palestine held Jewish traditions from the Old Testament is because many Israelites chose other religions over time. Hellenistic religions, Christianity, Islam. That’s why when you take samples of genetic DNA from Israelite sites the closest living relatives are Samaritans and Palestinians. Levantine Arabs are not from Arabia. They’re not real Arabs. Neither are Moroccans or Sudanese or Egyptians by the way. So having a group of people come from outside and claim the entire land of Israel for themselves is a bit threatening in that context, no?

The stated goal of every Palestinian group in the region is to purge "Palestine" of the Jews once and for all. If you think otherwise for even a second, you've fallen for their propaganda. Go ahead: count how many Jews there are in Gaza (or Libya, or Yemen) and guess what Palestinians have planned for Israel. The short answer is that actions speak louder than words. Israeli Jews live peacefully with the Muslims that live peacefully with them - about 20% of the Israeli population is Muslim. Muslim majority countries purge themselves of Jews, so when people say they want the whole Palestine area to become Muslim majority they've also stated what they plan to do with the Jews currently living there.

When the teacher said she cannot separate Judaism from Israel, I was flabbergasted. Jews have been perpetually migrating since the conception of the religion itself. This is one of the main themes of the people who followed the prophets of God. They also had to separate Sephardic, Mizrahi and Ashkenazi Jews simply because of class and racism. The Palestinians were genetically descended from the Jewish tribes in the Levant that over time converted to Christianity and Islam. They are the very definition of Semitic peoples but Israelis will always negate all of this.
That’s not true actually, Jews were tied to the land of Judea and only went away when they were forcibly removed from the land which is why so many Jews were in diaspora for so long. Yet of course that is true also for Palestinians who are tied to the Land and deserve the right of return just as Jews do.

Worshiping a country is, in essence, a contradiction to one’s faith. A country is a human construct-created, governed, and inherently flawed. Faith, on the other hand, is divine, rooted in the eternal and infallible wisdom of God. To equate or mix something so transient and human with the divine is to compromise the purity of one’s faith. It dilutes what is sacred by intertwining it with fallibility. Moreover, the content of this video is deeply unsettling. Imagine the scenario reversed: Muslims in the West traveling to a Muslim-majority country for military training and then returning without scrutiny-would that be deemed acceptable? What if the U.S. government facilitated free flights for Indian-origin residents to return to India, encouraging them to immerse themselves in their native culture and traditions? What if Indian Americans were systematically educated to prioritize patriotism towards India, dedicating their lives to serving its interests while treating the United States merely as a tool for advancing those goals? Would that not raise serious concerns? Why, then, is this behavior acceptable in the opposite context? I genuinely struggle to understand the justification behind this disparity.

ps, there is an isreali settlement a block away from my grandma and grandpas house, my mom and my brothers and i left to live back in america with my dad before things really started hitting the fan over there, my grandma in the late 2010s would still live in her house and after 2023 she doesnt know if she’ll ever be able to go back to the house her my grandpa and his parents and so on owned

@@zanultimazan This is a deliberate misreading of Herzl and Zionism. Herzl and the early Zionists were focused on Jewish self-determination and returning to their ancestral homeland after centuries of persecution. Calling it “colonialism” ignores the fact that Jews are indigenous to the land of Israel, with a history there spanning over 3,000 years. Herzl never framed Zionism as a colonial project. it was about reclaiming a homeland, not exploiting foreign land for empire-building. Unlike colonialism, which involved subjugating native populations, Zionism was about creating a safe haven for Jews who faced systemic oppression worldwide. Once we raised questions of injustice in Palestine, and recognition of the State of Palestine, suddenly all the Irish are antisemites! What’s becoming so obvious to people now is that colonialism has never ended just rebranded with different terms. From Natives indigenous people being called “savages” in the old days to now being called “terrorist” by neocolonialists who are neoliberals, neoconservatives, and zionist. 1) Savages is now “terrorist” 2) Civilizing them is now “bringing them democracy” 3) Colonies is now “territories” We can all see Israel is a colonial project being supported by former and current colonials such as U.S, UK, and others who also control territories of indigenous natives in Caribbean Islands, Pacific Islands, Hawaii, and many more. The liberation of Palestine will definitely give RISE to many indigenous natives around the world to free themselves from western domination. This is the underlying ripple effect that the U.S government and its puppet allies don’t want to happen
The more time moves on the more deceiving the zionists become. Early Zionist like Theodor Herzl and Max Nordau openly and unapologetically described Israel as a colony project, but now it has turned into something deeper. “Returning to your roots”.
Currently native Americans are banned from suing in court in America and no one talks about how ironic it is, the 1825 ruling still stands using Englands discovery, this fact should embarrass the USA into stopping Israel and paying native Americans their rent.

None of the older Israeli supporting and Zionist speakers in this video ever address Israel's treatment of Palestinians. The comment on how great Israel is, they comment on the problem with losing young Jewish people to the anti genocide movement, they never give their side of the argument, they only say it is all lies. Why is this? If it is all lies and these young people are being mislead, what is their counterpoint? Silence.
Kudos to Vice for licensing this documentary! I've heard plenty about "Israelism," but experiencing it firsthand was truly eye-opening. It's every bit as instructive and astonishing as people have raved about. More people need to see it.
yes, I'd heard about it, but just stumbled upon it here in my UA-cam Autoplay... I thought this was going to be a discussion of the film or an advertisement, but it is the actual film. So glad they have made it available to the public. It was absolutely worth watching and I'll see if I can get some Jewish friends to watch it.
For the (bot) comment claim this video is one-sided. Yes, you're right. Just like the ICC, the UN, the UNRWA, the Red Cross, the Oxfam, the Human Right Watch, the Amnesty International, the 146 countries in General Assembly is one-sided. The only two side-honest-true story is by Netanyahu 😂😂😂.

@@mirazizismoilov258 This comment completely ignores the reality on the other side. In Palestinian society, children are often celebrated and praised as “martyrs” if they carry out attacks, even against civilians, including kids. Families of attackers receive financial compensation through programs like the “Pay-for-Slay” system, which rewards violence. Videos show Palestinian leaders encouraging this culture, with school plays and cartoons glorifying killing. Meanwhile, the IDF doesn’t celebrate civilian casualties. it actively works to avoid them, even when terrorists deliberately hide behind civilians. If you’re going to criticize, at least be consistent and acknowledge the glorification of violence on the other side too.
I can relate so much to this video. I’m Israeli-born, but I grew up in the US. I was involved in various pro-Israel groups throughout my childhood and in college, some of which are even mentioned in this video. But when I was in college, I had an experience just like the girl in the video. I began doing some more reading and watching public forums on UA-cam, hoping deep down that the narrative that I believed my whole like would be right, but I came to realize it is not. I’m at a weird place right now where I have these beliefs but I’m not very vocal about them because I’m afraid of disgracing my family and friends. It’s tough because most of my family lives in Israel and I have cousins in the IDF who put their lives on the line. I can’t imagine myself looking at them in the eyes and explaining why they are part of an occupation. That’s it for my UA-cam comment section therapy dump
....they're putting their lives on the line...? You mean they're choosing to be a part of an occupational force...and that's saying it lightly, so that this comment will go through. You're the exact same as people, who didn't stand against their relatives in the 1940s, in Germany. You're also the same as the south africans, who encouraged and upheld that system by not speaking out. Sadly it seems like you still have more unpacking to do....
That needs to be repeated over and over again. Zionism and Judaism are not the same thing, and Israel does not speak for Judaism. When people push that it does, it creates hatred for Jews because of what Israeli leaders do and say. Its the number one creator of anti-simitism.
For years, I supported Israel due to my father's influence, as he obtained his news from mainstream media sources. However, in 2017/18, I stumbled upon a video of Ross Kemp interviewing Hamas fighters, Palestinian civilians, Israeli citizens, and IDF members. This prompted me to delve deeper into the conflict and conduct extensive research. As I began studying the history of civilization up to the present day, I made a startling discovery that completely altered my perspective. This revelation was truly eye-opening and forever changed my views. I have since made it my mission to educate others, including my children, about the reality of Israel as an apartheid state.
seems like you aren't aware that both Israel, the west bank and gaza all run by different enteties, there is no possible way this falls under the definition of apartheid unless you alter the definition first.. oh wait.
As a Palestinian living in Occupied Jerusalem,we see and come across lots of foreigner jews (especially Americans) who are on birthright trips or any other trip with similar goals. What the Palestinian guy from Bethlehem said was true, they have more rights than any Palestinian(wether living in the west bank, jerusalem, gaza,or the in areas occuppied in 1948),and get treated and act like they're natives and owners of this land. i Always wondered when i saw them or came across them, have those people ever heard about, talked,or got exposed to Palestinians, what if I talk to them?what if i tell them a couple of the stories that either happened to me or to someone i know?would those people actually realize they're being deceived and lied to?would they empathise with Palestinians?or are we really less than humans in their eyes? Great report, lots of love and respect to those who woke up and saw the truth, and fight back against Opression, and i would be more than happy to one day have the oppurtunity to talk to one, show them around my beloved Jerusalem, and how the occupation makes our life harder each and everyday in it.
As a jew living in jerusalem I'm allways for dialog I wish I could take the birthright kids to eat hummus and see the whole of this land. Again terrorism is never justified by my book. It's never okay to fire a rocket or run into some ones home and kill a father in front of his kids on video cause that's what happened on Oct 7. I'm for freedom just don't give hamas anything I encouraged israelies to give money to hamas and now I feel that this was a huge mistake did the millions we gave them help gaza be free? Did hamas do a genocide or is this what you call resistance? Is kidnapping people and holding them hostage infornt of the world ever justified? It happend. Now what. I'm still in jerusalem and I still have Muslim friends and I believe that we can all be safe and free if we focus on being good to ourselves and our families. I'm proud to say I support my arab brothers by encouraging education and by doing things that will help their own community life community gardens and cleaning up the streets if your from east jerusalem you will understand that jerusalem is cleaner then halil or hebron and that not because of terrorist but because there are people who work all day to make it clean those people are both arab and Jewish and that's who I respect hard working good people that don't work in politics. If someone else is the blame for everything is terror justified or even celebrated? Your garden looks like a mess and your not cleaning it is this my fault?! Do you know how meny tones of trash i took out of silwan so that people wouldnt burn it and kill their own children from deadly smoke inhalation?! Yes israel has issues but it's still better then letting all the tribes here kill each other for honor or cause one of their daughters may date someone from the wrong tribe so let's go honor kill them all right? Is that the kind of Islam that you believe in? I mean there is good and bad people on both sides just try to be good. Sorry for the long reply but I'd love to actually meet in person and talk cause you might be surprised. Ma'a salama
We are fully aware of whats happening in Gaza and the West Bank. It’s not ideal but this is the situation “Palestinians” forced us into. If you guys would accept that the state of Israel is going to exist forever and if you guys were committed to peaceful relations with us, “Palestinians” wouldnt have the problems they have. And yes we are natives to this land. There has only been one country in this region in all of history, and thats Israel. When it wasnt a jewish country, it was a colony under a foreign empire. We have a right to have a country here.

@@ImaLegend1131 as to your point about Palestinians being the oppressed group who face suffering now. Yes. That is true. But it doesn't take away from the posters original comment. It's just beyond craziness how they're able to show their colonial thoughts without being criticized if another people of ethnic groups or faiths would've done the same thing the whole world would go crazy
This is a great documentary. The only criticism I have is that when talking about America, people forget that America is a settler-colonialist state. The tactics used against Palestinians are the same tactics used against indigenous people and black people. American nationalism is the continuation of the ethnic cleansing of black and indigenous groups. I wish this documentary expanded on how America had a hand in continuing the occupation in Palestine because America did the same with indigenous Americans. America got away with it so why not do it again? I wish people brought up the ethnic cleansing of indigenous people more and more. This moment in history is very important and you will see patterns in any genocide around the world. Also evangelicals who are very anti-Semitic often push for Zionism so less Jewish people live in America. This was also something Abraham Lincoln wanted to do with black people after slavery ended.
I totally agree. But if this documentary is viewed as a teaching tool, I think that might be too much, too soon. I don't think you can throw people who have been raised with American exceptionalism in the deep end, you gotta ease em in
Height of American exceptionalism here. Jews are indigenous to Israel, Palestinians (which were not a group of people, until the 20th century) came over after the Arab conquest of the region, read history books: the Jewish people had sovereignty over the land of Israel in ancient times, particularly during the eras of the Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Judah. However, after the Roman conquests and the suppression of Jewish revolts (notably in 70 CE and 135 CE), the Jewish presence in the land was significantly reduced. Many Jews were killed, enslaved, or dispersed across the Roman Empire, initiating what is often referred to as the Jewish Diaspora. During the centuries that followed, the land did not remain empty. Its population evolved through migrations, conquests, and natural demographic changes: Post-Exile Period: After the Romans suppressed the Jewish revolts, they renamed the region "Syria Palaestina" (intentionally erasing the name Judea) as a way to diminish Jewish ties to the land. While a Jewish community persisted in small numbers, it no longer held sovereignty over the area. Christian and Byzantine Period: During Roman and later Byzantine rule (4th-7th centuries CE), the region became predominantly Christian, reflecting the shift in the Roman Empire's religion. Jewish communities were present but marginalized. Arab Conquests and Islamic Rule: In the 7th century, Muslim Arab armies conquered the region. Over time, the majority of the population converted to Islam, and the region became predominantly Arab. The area remained under Islamic rule for centuries (apart from interruptions like the Crusader period), and its population reflected this shift. Jewish Presence Through the Ages: Even during the periods of foreign rule, Jewish communities persisted in certain cities such as Jerusalem, Safed, Hebron, and Tiberias. However, the majority population by the medieval period was Arab and Muslim, with Christian minorities.

@dumbtch-lk5yr that's actually a really interesting comparison. I think a more accurate historical comparison would be the crusades because the land was tied to the church and not the ruler. and Christianity's ties to the land of Israel are still a part of their prayers, and the crusaders did rule as well as leave a trail of blood and pillage Europe on the way there. The problem of church and state is actually a highly complex issue within Israel and many Israeli citizens have vastly different opinions on the subject but they have the right to vote on it. I think the idea that you can remove Zionism (the idea that Israel has the right to exist) from Judaism is wrong the same way you can't separate Christianity from the idea that Jesus started as a Jew in Israel. That doesn't excuse any behavior and in both cases, as you said, the result was not good.

@@Comoxochitl This thread is doing the absolute most while missing the actual points. It’s rooted in theological beliefs tied to biblical prophecy, not some government-sanctioned campaign. You might not agree with it, but it’s far from being a “cult.” Second, claiming that Judaism and Christianity are “not compatible with the values of the Israeli state” ignores the fact that Israel is a secular democracy with freedom of religion, something Christians in many parts of the Middle East can’t enjoy. If we’re going to talk about treatment of Christians, maybe take a hard look at how they’re treated in places like Gaza under Hamas before throwing stones.

Jews have an extremely strong connection to this land which makes complete sense to anyone who read the Jewish bible. Yet of course that is true also for Palestinians who are tied to the Land and deserve the right of return just as Jews do.

Well, this has been the life for Palestinians since 1948 - you, like many Americans just didn’t know about it as AIPAC and Israel made sure that Palestinian side of the reality doesn’t get out.

Borders are and have never been constant. Borders always change, and the locals have to defend their lands from invaders. The so called "Palestinians" failed to defend themselves and they face the consequences of being a dominated people.
There is no reason to think that borders should not change.
The Nazis had much more ethno-nationalism than the Jews, so did the USSR. The Chinese currently also have significantly more ethno-nationalism than the Jews. The Native Americans also have a high amount of ethno-nationalism.

Why is this? If it is all lies and these young people are being mislead, what is their counterpoint? Silence.

This does not excuse it!
Height of American exceptionalism here. Jews are indigenous to Israel, Palestinians (which were not a group of people, until the 20th century) came over after the Arab conquest of the region, read history books:
the Jewish people had sovereignty over the land of Israel in ancient times, particularly during the eras of the Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Judah.
Its population evolved through migrations, conquests, and natural demographic changes:
Post-Exile Period: After the Romans suppressed the Jewish revolts, they renamed the region "Syria Palaestina" (intentionally erasing the name Judea) as a way to diminish Jewish ties to the land.

And now, even christian palestine were persecuted like muslim. So this isnt about muslim vs jewish. Its about palestine and "israeli" and they killing not only soldiers but women and children for decades!!!
Appreciate the comment. I love all religions, just we should follow gods commandments and i believe youre a firm believer of God and with beautiful heart
You know what happens to Kapos, don't ya?
I'm shocked that people still to this day don't know about palestinians enduring all kind of sh*t since decades
But late better never
I just dont understand how mass amounts of people dieing is justified.
These young Jews speaking out give me some hope

Imagine someone coming to your home and claiming it by saying, “god gave it to them” would you accept it or resist like the Palestinians are doing? The world stands with Palestine 🇵🇸!
Funny, that's exactly what the Muslims did when they conquered Jerusalem.
Are you okay with the fact that Hamas says Palestine is an Islamic land that is forbidden to be controlled by non-Muslims as part of their expansionist and imperialist motives? shouldn't the Jews/Israelis resist against that in your view?
@@SB-to5lx “David Ben-Gurion and Yitzhak Ben Zvi, later becoming Israel's first Prime Minister and second President, respectively, suggested in a 1918 book written in Yiddish that the fellahin (Palestinians) are descended from ancient Jewish and Samaritan farmers, "Am ha'aretz" (People of the Land), who continued farming the land after the Jewish-Roman Wars and despite the ensuing persecution for their faith. While the wealthier, more educated, and more religious Jews departed and joined centers of religious freedom in the diaspora, many of those who remained converted their religions, first to Christianity, then to Islam.”

Are you even aware the Palestinians are the ANCIENT Semites while most israelis are Europeans pretending to be one?
@@SB-to5lx “Anyone who want to stop the possibility of a Palestinian state should support the strengthening of Hamas and the transfer of money to Hamas,”

How are you not even aware that israeli leaders like Netanyahu are the enemies of Jewish people?
@@thinkbeforeyoutype7106 There are many Semitic ethnicities and many Levantine people have some European genetics mixed in to their DNA like the people of Lebanon were never Arabs but have mixed genes and only identify as Arab culturally in the same way that people in Central and South America identify as culturally Hispanic or Latin even though they do not originate in Spain but the Spanish came there to conquer and explore just like the Arabs came from the peninsula to explore and conquer the Levant. So most European Jews have Levantine DNA and some Palestinians also have European DNA. The Arabs in Palestine also have surnames which indicate where in the Middle-East they come from and they do not originate in Palestine. Everyone in the region has mixed ancestry from other places and should learn to coexist in the future.
nice to see VICE do journalism again
they just bought the rights to the documentary, it originally aired on aljazeera
If only, they didn’t make this they’re just showing it on their channel
One-sided journalism yes
😂😂😂
Was thinking the same thing. They became awful for a while. When they used to do such hard hitting real on the ground journalism
