  • The GForce Exodus RPX 9 is another Glock G19 close but is it any good? I did have a problem with using Glock magazines when shooting heavier bullets.

    Really like that you review budget firearms. I'm not broke, but the reason is, I tend to pirchase budget friendly guns. Ruger, Canik, Heritage, and such. I may take a look at this one too. Thanks again!

      The "branded" pistols are, generally speaking, overpriced. Especially in markets OUTSIDE the USA. In Europe, handguns are 20-50% more expensive; even the Turkish ones are more costly too! I'm a mechanical engineer (small arms major), and the price of a polymer is pretty much the same for Glocks, H&K's, S&W...
      Yeah, there are different versions of polymers, but the price difference is negligible. The polymer chassis production costs are under $5. I believe that the whole production cost of a striker-fired polymer pistol should be under 80 USD. In Turkey, due to the low hourly wage, it is probably even under 50 USD. The most important parts of the pistol are the barrel, firing pin, and magazines.
      Yes, slides (bolts) are important too, but if you'll experience any material problems, it's going to be on those parts that are exposed to blasts, mechanical shocks, and magazines. I have heard that Turks are buying barrels from Germany, so if true, the barrels are as good as the ones on Glock.
      The Turks have one GREAT flaw: poor quality control and, thus, a poor brand image. Canik, in my opinion, has managed to improve even the brand-image part...

      I don't think Ruger has been in the budget category in a very long time...if ever. With that said, back in the early '80s I remember their bolt-action rifles running about $80-$100 less than similar (comparable?) models from Winchester & Remington.

    Great video! Saying it is a G19 clone and then presenting a side by side comparison was excellent - and then you swapped the slide and confirmed fit, which did answer the question in my mind as you anticipated. Now the question for me is will I add one to my collection? Probably, especially at that price. Oh, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing your son's photographic work - it was a nice change of pace.

      Exactly, you can find LE trade in Glock 22's and 23's for $250 to $300 and then buy a 9mm conversion barrel and a couple of mags and be able to shoot both calibers for about $350 to $375 total. Or just pay $300 for the Glock 19 or 17 if 9mm is your thing.

      The issue I have with ALL Glocks is the grip angle actually forces my hand to twist to the wrist in the direction of the small finger that I lose sensation in the hand. True from a G19 through a G41.
      Most of the 'clones' don't have that sharp angle on the grip, so work far better for me.
      I kept several Glocks for range days, but got rid of several because I honestly can't use them for carry if after 10 to 15 minutes I can't feel my hand.

    I appreciate the thoroughness of your testing and diagnosis regarding the slide lock issues. It seems to me that the Glock mags position the nose of the 124gr bullets just close enough to the slide lock tab to engage it. 115gr ammo of course has a smaller ogive to the bullet so they weren't "kissing" the slide stop tab. Just my "virtual" assessment.

    • @mixup98
      @mixup98  4 місяці тому +3

      You may be on to something. I will take off the slide, put a few rounds in a magazine, and see how close the ogive is to the slide lock tab.

    • @faryldaryl3975
      @faryldaryl3975 23 дні тому

      My thoughts exactly.
      In the 1911-or-revolver days, this was a common problem with different bullet weights/styles, but this is the first time I've seen it limited to one mag type. With a 1911 one would trim the slide stop just a wee bit to allow the bullet to get by, but still let the follower hit it proper. In this case, I'd just use Magpul magazines, after making sure they run my preferred SD ammo of course. Those concerned about using found magazines in an emergency may think differently. Being able to use much cheaper reliable mags is a huge plus for first time buyers on the hot dog ramen diet. When asked what he recommended for first time buyers, hardcore 1911 guy Uncle Clint said with zero hesitation: "Glock 19, and 20 mags."
      As for recommending GForce, especially compared to a used Glock, I'll wait until we see some long-term testing. A lot of cheaper guns will work fine out of the box, but wear much faster than the bigger name brands.

    First off, thanks for always putting out Grrreat videos! Something to maybe look into. The Glock 9mm double column mags now have a total of 9 slightly different followers in them that I am aware of & I believe three variations on the mags & at least two 10 round only mags for the model 19. Although all seem to work well in any 9mm Glock (as far as I know). Your clone's magwell may have been designed slightly different & did not take all these Follower variations in mind. It may just be the specific Glock mag & or follower that you just happen to be using during filming. I think with the exception of Glock's very first 9mm mag follower, they all have a number molded into them at the top front, that you can readly see while looking straight down into the mag. Many but not all are interchangeable, as one of the changes glock made on the mags was the slight variation in the mag opening where the follower seats when empty. (The cuts on the lip where the followers seat varies slightly & not all followers will seat fully, leading to problems) Maybe switching to a brand new G19 mag that has a #6 #7 follower factory installed will solve the problem for you.

Regarding the slide release issue, I had the very same slide release (Glock OEM), with same problem, specifically when I shot Major Power Factor (~177 - ish) handloads in USPSA / IDPA Comp several years ago. Quite simple solution indeed: Carefully uninstall it, then 'straighten' its return spring some 35° degrees, (Harder to operate), and presto. Most my Glocks had the 3.5 lb connector + Lightning Strike Titanium striker + some surface honing + a couple Custom fitted, FULLY supported bbls to avoid higher pressure handloads' issues Thanks for sharing your kid's photographic Masterpieces, which are absolutely gorgeous showing our Almighty Lord's🙏 supreme job regarding our Wildlife & beautiful Outdoors!!.🏆.

    I think I'd go for the PSA Dagger, esp. considering they've always, always got good deals on them if I wanted a G19-Gen3 clone. I've only seen good reviews on them so far, especially on the newer models. I've seen GForce arms semi-auto shotguns reviewed before and those, surprisingly, seem to work quite well.

      You're a wise man. I want to like this pistol. When it shoots, it shoot amazing. It fits fantastic. But just like this video, the slide locking back is maddening. 30+ occurrences in my first 60 rounds. I purchased two Magpul magazines, which did a bit better, but still had the problem over the next 105 rounds. I reached out to GForce arms over a week ago, and have tried several times since, they have ignored me. I'm done with this boat anchor.

    Great review! I subscribed because I like the "no nonsense" approach and your willingness to try new firearms. Aside from the obvious price advantage, I would be interested in how this manufacturer handles longevity. Perhaps you might consider follow-up content after putting it through more rounds. I also notice a small difference in spring diameter (Glock appears heavier)...
    Not saying this equates to being "better", just an observation. It's usually the small details that end-up determining the success of a clone. $250 is an amazing deal, but only if everything holds together long-term. You know what they say about quality.... "You get what you pay for..." But who knows?? This company may be trying really hard to gain a following. Thanks for your reviews!

    You need to adjust or replace the slide stop or just the spring. I had the same exact issue on a different pistol based on a 3rd gen Glock and I solved the problem by replacing the spring that came on the pistol with a stock Glock spring. There was noticeably more tension on the glock, much higher quality spring. You also might want to check the pin that the spring sits under it could be out of alignment.

    All Glock branded Glock mags are not the same depending on when they were made. There have been several different subtle changes made by Glock over the years to their mags especially in the area of the follower. I have 3 original Glock mags for my Glock 23 40 S&W where the follower is of a different profile. Depending on when the Glock mag was made the follower can be of a different profile and that may allow the pistol you're shooting in the video to be either more or less reliable.
    In Europe the 124gr bullet is the most commonly used weight in 9mm and they are normally loaded pretty hot as NATO ammo is pretty hot so it should run that bullet weight but it may require a mag that it is compatible with to do it reliably.

    What's your opinion on KCI mags in general? I bought one of their 30 round mags, & one by Mec-Gar, for my Storm 9mm, but haven't yet tried either. Is it unusual for an autoloader to be that specifically ammo picky?

    • @mixup98
      @mixup98  4 місяці тому +2

      I own a handful of KCI magazines, including pistol and rifles magazines, and I have never had any problems with them. I did a KCI magazine review about four or five years ago but I had to delete it because I had shown a now restricted hi-capacity magazine in the video. I wouldn't use KCI mags in a self defense pistol but they are great for range use.

    • @Salieri47
      @Salieri47 4 місяці тому +1

      @@mixup98My thinking is Mec-Gar first, based on the fact (if it's true) they make mags for major firearms manufacturers, with KCI as a backup. Hopefully I'll never have to test that arrangement in a LOD situation.

    • @mixup98
      @mixup98  4 місяці тому +1

      @@Salieri47 Mec-Gar does in fact make magazines for many major firearm manufacturers. I may be mistaken but I don't think Mec-Gar makes polymer magazines. I would guess that the magazines supplied with my pistol were either made by KCI or more likely they were made in Turkey.
