We see helicopters all the time in the sky but the cockpit view is simply awesome 👌🚁🚁
Thanks Adam!
Thank you for this lovely video, the R66 must feel so much more nimble and responsive than the R44 not only due to the turbine being more powerful, but also because it is so much lighter than the antiquated boat anchor and its associated weighty necessary parts found in the R44.
That cockpit looks a very nice place to be with the comprehensive instrument fit, subscribed.
I'm not sure about your "much more nimble" comment. The cruise speed of this R-66, namely between 80 and 90 kts, was no different than the cruise speed at which I fly in an R-44.
I am flying helicopters in Microsoft Flight Sim, you are lucky to do this in real life. Thanks for a fun watch.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice engine sound! It is a melody!
Fantástic comander.
Thank you !
thanks a lot for this amazing video!
Thank you !
Same sound I've heard during onboard in AW189....15 passengers and 2 pilots going offshore. With female pilot on the right, me staring on the instrument panel while buckled upon next row seat 🙂
Just wow… this is the first time I have ever seen a real helicopter fly from the POV of the pilot, it’s incredible!
Not sure if this will be seen but just in case and sorry if it is a stupid question. I play a lot of battlefield on my Xbox and have always wondered if real helicopters sway left and right as much as they do in these games. You can say a bit of swinging in this video but nothing like the exaggerated stuff you see in media. Was this just a more relaxed flight or can helicopters really almost turn sideways without crashing?
Glad you found it interesting ! and no silly questions - yes a helicopter is very manoeuvrable, and you can turn left and right in the hover very quickly !
The flight was very nice but my question is the home? Was this a residential home and who owns this masterpiece?
It was a lovely place called Whatley Manor hotel and spa
I was trying to work out the route as I'm only a few miles away, in Malmesbury
The pilot flew IFR (meaning I Follow Roads). He took off from Whatley Manor, flew initially to the north west and then followed a prominent line feature (visible out the left window initially) all the way to Kemble. That line feature appears to be an old Roman road which is now a mixture of road and footpaths. Its quite easy to spot on a map or Google Earth.
@@russella7263 thanks for that. Much appreciated .
Buen video
Thank you
nice quick flight- I would like to go there!
nice video thanks fore sharing
Thank you Robert ! Please feel free to ask questions !
What does r66 cost to own
Looking around $800k for purchase
8hunderd an 80 thousand bucks
Cool Garmin :D
very handy!
Looks like the new Garmin 1060 TXi. Yes?
Believe it is the G500H matched with the GTN750, GTR225B and GMA350HC
And yes a TXi
One of the most difficult skills to obtain
Yes though like riding a bike , it comes together eventually!
Looked a little sticky on take off
due to several crash i didnt like the r22 n r 44 but the R 66 turbine incredible
The 66 is powerful, and has the spare capacity for some nice optional extras to be installed without substantially reducing the payload!
Nightmare of a pickup and takeoff
Yes, have to always consider the accessibility of the landing site to the public, and if possible, have someone to keep people away temporarily!!
how was whatley manor? looking for somewhere to fly too (r44)
Hi there
Thanks for commenting. It was a few years back, but from what I remember, the meal was lovely and all the guests had a great time!
@@ABHelicopters good to know! You probably won’t know, but do they still allow helicopters to land there? Can’t find any info on their website.
I couldn’t say for certain, either drop them a call, or check out an app called ‘helipaddy’ which has up to date info on places to land around the world
@@ABHelicopters I've heard of that app before so ill give it a try. thanks for your help! (i subscribed of course!)
That’s kind of you- thanks!
Is there anything else you would like to see - video wise- on the channel?
Just wondering if you have done this trip in a car and what the time difference would be?
According to Google , 20mins. The helicopter went to Kemble to get some fuel however, but it didn’t start there!
Great video! 👍🇵🇹
Thanks!
I'm curious, before lift off in the bottom right corner it shows 241 then, 258 at one point before moving, what is that? I thought it showed how high your flying?
Hi Bubba- thanks for the comment - just looked at it - very strange - as the helicopter is certainly not moving - it might be the camera just calibrating it’s altitude after it has been turned on!
@@ABHelicopters oh ok
So I checked other videos to see if it happens there - apparently not.
I thought it might be in case the engine start affected the pressure, and thus the altitude reading- but it seems to take the altitude from the GPS - not barometrically
@@ABHelicopters ohok, I rode once in a helicopter very small one, I can't tell you any specifics about it, my cousin owned it and flew to Tennessee for a family reunion from Denver, about 15 years ago, we went up maybe 20 minutes , I don't think much longer than that, and I remember getting nauseaous some, but the view was unbelievable, I was instantly in love with it. I'd buy my own if possible.
i’m really high why did I search this
Wave to the fops
Eae mano aqui é do Brasil
As always, every time you excel your self.
how many miles was from the starting point to the airport?
9.5 nautical miles which is 10 miles
@@daniel-davidliebenberg9747 10.9 miles
Round about 20km and you couldn't have taken a taxi?
I popped into Kemble to get some fuel! The flight didn’t originate from there, don’t worry!!!
Eu penso em compra r66 ou r44 mas não sei se eu tenho e corágem de realizar voos muito bom de um estado pra outro alex
Are you sure you can afford one of these? Just think about buying a VW Fusca second handed... 😆😆
