As a proud new owner of an old beat up XR650R, thank you for this! Keep up the great work.
Please do a starting procedure with the stock carb, a pumper carb, cold and hot.
Hey Man Glad the Swingarm worked out! thanks for the Shoutout! Have a blast in Baja!
Thank you!!
Hey Morgan. I just came across your channel. I just bought a mostly nice XR650R and I've been searching for UA-cam content. I'm freshening mine up with the usual stuff - new chain/sprockets, brake rotors, fork oil change, shock service, grease shock linkage, swingarm and steering head bearings, etc. I enjoyed your comments about how your "not perfect" bike reflects yourself. Me, I'm nearer the anal retentive side, but that works for me. I appreciate your expertise and attention to detail and getting the bike mechanically sound even if it's not Team Honda Factory clean (like I'm trying to get mine to be). Looking forward to being entertained and learning from your XRR videos - thanks! :-)
You're bike matches you perfectly Morgan your one of a kind. You and your bike will do awesome in Mexico.
Bike looks sweet with the new wheels!!!
I appreciate that!
Be careful down there and have a blast!
The bike has great character and is very cool much like yourself wishing you all the best in the race👍👍
Thanks,
You are a wealth of knowledge! Am so exited for you doing this race. I rode my XR today and she keeps on putting smiles on my face.
1 of the most talented desert racers I have ever known said that his XR650 was the fastest desert bike he ever had and he had ktm and honda 500 smokers. I wasn't very comfortable on it but I am a 250 2 stroke kind of guy.
They are amazing
I used to call him a diesel driving thumper lover. And then later on in life I bought an 06 CRF450R, that I put 7 mx seasons on to include a series title.
And the 4CS fork can be Made to work well on a motocross track but all of the recent forks aer, xplor, and 4cs Ned To be gutted. The best wp units ihave ridden was a revalved closed cartridge 2010 450 sxf. The 4cs forks I have on my 16 fc450 were revalved by mx tech. How good are they? I locked down old guy practice at Washougal the only time I Rhode it there. Kreft moto out in bend wants so much to revalve and tune wp units I would go the del saggio way. My 1st experience with 4cs forks with stock valving I said Wow wtf ktm found a way to make their forks even shittier out of the box! The problem is finding a tuner that can fix them. You had me sold on the 6500 kit until I saw your del saggios work in chop
XR awesomeness!!! Definitely you. I intend to keep my XR400 'til I die...maybe buried with it.😁
for the chaon master link you can put them on so the clip is on the inside it offers a little more protection ..
Keep up the good work and vids you are the wizard of knowledge. Best of luck in Mexico wish you luck from rainy 🌧 muddy wales uk.
Thanks 👍
Helllll yea, such a nice bike for the trip
Agreed!!
I meant to send this in your live cast this morning
Hey little mad max patina never hurts
Start calling the Xr650R Mad Max it's got that vibe
I always enjoy watching your videos as l feed off your positivity! It's also nice to see a "new" video on the XR650R as it's been awhile since I've come across any new material. I bought my 650R six years ago and loved making the build into making it something that's not your dime a dozen bike. The most important thing for me was getting it plated which was a breeze. Adding new graphics, a seat cover, wheels, Tusk street legal light kit with wrap around hand guards with integrated LED bllinkers, aftermarket exhaust, a Trail Tech Vapor (perfect for maintenance records), a 450X front fender for a more modern look. The previous owner already already did the 450R inverted front forks conversion and oversized handlebars with risers. I must say that the best "investment" l made was getting a Lectron carburetor for it. I still have my house in the northeast but four years ago I bought a house 35 miles outside St George, Utah and that's the new home of my 650R. With elevation changes from 1600 feet to 8k feet is where the Lectron really excels. My mileage went from around 33 MPG to around 50 MPG. Since I still have the stock 2.6 gallon tank on it the extra miles per tank really make a big difference.
Thanks again for taking the time to make informative and quality videos.
A buddy of mine has a XR 650 R with 2 hours on it wrapped in plastic in his garage. He bought it new and just wanted to age it like fine wine. He gets it out of the plastic every year when we have the first super cross race party each year. That bike is way ahead of its time!!! Absolutely beautiful machine well engineered.
Outstanding bike cant wait to see it rip in Mexico
Between you and Gabe from torturetest I really want an XR for some irrational reason.
Tear it up brother!!!
Yessir
Or drive 60 miles to support Morgan and his shop
❤️❤️
I could sense your legitimate worry on those rear wheel adjuster bolts! Ha! Happy days they came out easy.
Had a pang of regret on your behalf watching the race footage... kind of wished you'd been on the XR650R for the actual race...
Me too
Bike looks great!
Love it !
As soon as you mentioned the thumb now i cant stop looking at it i am thinking it may have a good story behind it .!!?
Looks badass Morgan!!! So stoked for you and look forward to following along. 🤘🤘
WoW 🤘 this series of videos are inspiring and awesome.
Awesome stuff brother! Best of luck in Mexico. Love the vids about the XR650R-- I've got one too and LOVE it. Did you try flipping the the carb cap o-ring over? It's asymmetrical and and only fits properly one way.
Yeah. I did. It was the round part that just wasn’t big enough.
🤘🤘🤘🤘
ride em red
🤘🏻
great
Ha I’m a pretty good mechanic but there’s something wrong with me my bikes are all mechanical sound but need to look extra clean wish I could take the same approach as you & not worry about the looks the wife’s not bad either 😂
🔥right on man, really happy for you and that shop with the baja adventure, really one of my dreams. And yes the 650 is a killer Machine, I agree with most your tech tips and mechanic
Skills, but why u put master link clip inside beside tire, rocks, dirt and shot flying up and ripping clip off?🔥👊🔥⚙️🔨🏍change to outside please
I would like to see new graphics
Thank you for your content I am a new XR 650R owner I love all the stuff you do and show me ideas for Maintenance..are you running a fuel filter? If so, can you share the link or what you recommend?
I don’t because there isn’t enough room from petcock to carb
Love ya channel , What tank brand you run there ?and size
It’s a clarke and 4. Something.
PRC 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Good morning Morgan! So this is my first year racing full harescrambles , "ran a few half races in the buddy class last year" and I'm currently leading in the points!
Big question is !
I have between 400-600 dollars to spend and I need to know where you'd recommend spending it first
New Nitro Mouse and new tires
An oversize tank I currently make a cautionary 40 second fuel stop
Mako 360 mounts
Or steering stabilizer?
Thanks for your input in advance 👍
I’d say most important would be Mako360 and tires/mousse balls. Between those two I might lean towards tires and mousse balls
Удачи в гонке! Мотоцикл старого выпуска,но он конкурент всем новым и проедет 1000 миль без особого обслуживания,а новые сдохнут мотоциклы. Плохо что сейчас его не делают.
Thanks for the upload morgan...just a quick question about the xr needle is that the hrc type? Bike is lookin sweet with them rims....looking forward to the baja content keep up the good work 💯
Yes. It’s the HRC needle
Been burned so many times trying to support local dealers, I don't even try anymore. All online purchases for me.
Fair enough.
You gonna do tubliss?😅
😝
Im gonna bleed my ktm 125 sx 2021 wp xact rear shock soon. Do you know what is the easiest way to do it?
I use bleed cups from drc
@@highlandcycles could i make that same type of cup myself? If i do so all i need to do is fill the shock with oil and then that cup and then just move that shaft back and forth until no more bubbles come?
@@elkku2934 Yep
Who makes that headlight
Baja designs
Dude. Don’t go all “Slavens” and talk about those who comment on your vids. Next thing you’ll start having on camera arguments with the trolls. (To be honest I troll him occasionally). If I get a xr650l for enduro riding I’ll bring it to ya for setup.
Hahaha. Fair enough
what oil? 1,6 qts?
I like belray 10/40 mineral and 1.8 liters
You soloing it?
Not this year
@@highlandcycles channel your inner Mouse McCoy
Are you running the B53E needle? Also have you ever ran the 68s pilot? I ran a plain 68 until about 2 months ago and installed a 68s and enjoyed the better right off throttle response, like when you need to get the front wheel up like RIGHT NOW.
