Jake, you're a legend. Been watching you since the DRZ days. You've inspired me so much to get out and ride. I had the same year DRZ as yours (converted to SM), an fz07, and 636. I sold them all and now I have just a DRZ400sm big bore. Keep it up man!
Out of any motovloger on UA-cam, I enjoy your build series more then anyone else. Glad your back up on your feet. Can't wait to see what the future holds.
I mean, 11000 $, my first reaction was, just buy a brand new 701 or a 690 smc-r... But I TOTALLY understand the “built vs bought” thing with the XR. Nice job man!
A built bike is so much more interesting for sure. It's his bike now, there's literally no other bike exactly like it. Plus because he built it he was able to get sponsors on board. If you just go buying a brand new 11k bike you'll get zero sponsors on board to help with the cost. I absolutely loved this build and I hope Jake does another build. Doesn't really matter what he builds, I'll be here for every second of the ride regardless.
Sure its a better bike and actually worth doing other than for views.. literally every smcr is factory stock and nobodys ever modded one and made it theirs. Never.
After watching your vid about taping up the inside of the rims, I did the exact same thing. I've been riding it for about 3 months now, and it still holds air just fine. Built the wheels myself using original hubs, custom spokes from the UK, TKC 80 rubber and some Chinese sumo rims XD. Bike's an old XT600Z from 1983 turned scrambler.
Honestly, I'd like to see tech videos from someone who ACTUALLY knows what they are doing. No offense to Chase or Dan (been subbed for more than 8 years to all of you bois), but its very clear who knows what in the biker/vlogger world.
I have a 2019 690 SMCR and the XR650R supermoto. KTM has been in the shop multiple times for oil leaks 1 repair took 2 months to get it back. Hole in the head, leaking clutch cover and counter shaft leak. The XR has never leaked a drop of oil at 20 years old. A kick starter is worth the trade off. Awesome build worth every penny
don't let this distract you from the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, "Spare Tire" Dixon
Saw a video of a boosted yz450f. Had a crazy flutter. It was awesome! Btw turbo flutter is not bad for the compressor wheel. Compressor surge is. Fundamentally different.
its always great to see someone fix up one of their dream bike thats not worth a bajillion dollars and that they actually love, enjoy and beat on it regardless! keep up the amazing content my dude!
I would like to see a wrecked bike build series with a realistic budget. Other channels buy a bike and just throw every part they can on it just because they like the color of it ect but I want to see if you can pick up a wrecked bike from an auction and get it back to a clean rideable form for less money than you could just pick up a used bike for. I think that would be really interesting to see.
Ive owned my 2002 Xr650r for 2 yrs and its amazing! I do long roadtrips and have dont loads of 4x4 trails in Colorado, new Mexico, Arizona and love the shit out of it. I have been heckin stoked to watch your build serious and very interested it see a long form review of you build. And answer common Q's like hp and 0-60 n mpg n stuff thnx.
I gotta say I wasn't expecting that much, but you always wanted that bike and you build it the way you want it so it makes sense, good job bro love the way your bike turn out
Yes your WR450F adjusts for temp and altitude. What year is it ? There is an ambient temp sensor under the seat and a pressure sensor downstream of the throttle body. It also knows coolant temp. From this it senses not only altitude, but also how dirty the air filter is. Spot on fuel delivery from -10C and sea level to 35C and 8,000 feet. Been there, done that. There is no way that Lectron is anywhere near as good as a modern fuel injection system.
EZ designs in Austin Tx. Does some awesome work with custom graphics. They made a set for my wife's dirt bike that helped me with popping the question.
You should build a 1979 Kawi 1000!! They have tons of customization options and that year has electric start AND A KICK START for the cool factor. Could make it into a scrambler type machine to still get rowdy offroad.
15:23 you can see your sprocket bolts are eating into your spoke standoffs on the rear hub when the engine braking due to the cush drive's movement. Surprised it wasn't supplied from Warp9 with shorter hardware!
What do i want to see next? I wanna see you get what we all know you've wanted since ripping around with fireguy! A ducati! Hyper, scrambler, whatever. Trust me, 4 valve duc valve adjustments+belts is not even bad. We all know you want one
Great build, can’t believe how expensive 😂. I’d love to see more of the FZ build series!!!! Maybe new brake calipers/rotors, or just more general maintenance. Thanks for the great videos!
Hey J TGS, Love your videos. Love that you built a XR650R SM. If we lived closer I know we would be hanging out together. I use to have a CRF450X SM but no one and I mean no one around me had SM's to hang out with...well there was one dude that had a converted XR650R which was pretty awesome...but never could catch him while I was on my SM. I do miss the SM more and more I watch your videos. LOL I took the route of beginner bike, cruiser, SM and now sportbike (literbike). Every time I think of selling the literbike I take a spin on it and cannot bring myself to let it go....Let it go...Let it go...wait...sorry...went sideways there for a moment. LOL Anyways, now that you have owned/ridden several different SM's: DRZ400-SM, WR450 SM, Husqvarna 701 SM, XR650R SM...which do you prefer? I am half tempted to get a XR650R, but that CRF450X was nice having kick start and electric start. Just curious as to what your take is on all the options out there. Keep on keeping on and stay crazy out there bro.
Been enjoying this build over here in Aus. Plenty of the BRPs over here. Currently rebuilding mine although for Enduro. Find an old KLX 650 now and Motard that Cheers
Love your videos. You've inspired me to start my own UA-cam motovlog channel. I finally have my class M license! Stay cool, my man, and thanks for inspiring me! Subscribed!
Great vid Jake. Yeah you know you dont love the bike unless you go and just stare at. I have other bikes that i have stupid money in and way more custom parts. But they dont do it. Theres always that one. Yeah that Baha designs is super cool. I went to check thier site out when you filmed that episode of install. My jaw hit the floor when i seen the price. I get it with the alternating current as well. Red pig is definately Noice.
Would love to see you go all out on a DR650, such a popular bike world wide i think you would get a lot of success with views etc and i have one so it would be awesome to see for me. Otherwise just keep doing you bro love your stuff!
I'd love to see ya turn something uncomfortable (like a sport bike) into something totally useable. I was kinda surprised you didn't do that with the R6 honestly.
that's s sad to hear about baja desings discontinuing the squadron pro I was really planning on buying one of those lights one day a very sad time now ;(
Jake first off I love the build, I bought an 03 and want to stick with the dirt and would like a larger tank, my question is how was the Clarke tank before changing it, was it awkwardly big? Wanna sell yours to me? Thanks for the videos keep up the good work
my only complaint with the 11 THOUSAND dollar price tag... (now hear me out, before anyone gets hasty) Couldn't you just get a nice rear fender with a proper looking tail light, plus I understand the idea of the graphics kit being a possibility but man that old tank and radiator plastics + the rear fender make it look like a $500 dollar bike, when its as good as gold in my opinion. Just another few hundred bucks could finish er off nice like. yeah real nice like. All wet like. wet like a fresh car wash like. mm hmmmm like.
Dude it doesn’t matter how much money is in it, it’s a legendary piece at this point
5k for bike parts and 6k on wd-40.
This is the real numbers 😂. Actually I buy it by the gallon and it last like 2-3 years.
@@TheGardenSnake SO SOLD ME XR 650 IN ANY CONDITION FOR I WILL GIVE YOU 4 GALLONS.
i have literally just finished watching the build series then you bring this vid out 3 minutes later. legend

Some nice bikes you’ve had there. Thanks for sticking with me so long!
Yeah same, bought DRZ after i found snake on YT, after that XR650R then lots of streetbikes, back to XR, but 600r SOLD it, now i bought a 650R again.
Out of any motovloger on UA-cam, I enjoy your build series more then anyone else. Glad your back up on your feet. Can't wait to see what the future holds.
But jake you should have bought the kamayaski elite 1,000,000cc superenduro
Next time
Every xr650r has a cushioned clutch basket.

Almost all of the mods on my fz07 are the same as what you did to yours because i love the way it turned out. I love your videos
1291 for wheels is a freaking steal! You know how much Harley Davidson wheels cost! Bike came out amazing! Totally love it!
This build sir is priceless. Hard to break and easy to fix. I'd choose this over the KTM.
U should do a build on one of the most beautiful yamaha r1 models, 2009-2014
PLEASE! Have a joint video with your brother and his DRZ400 doing an install of the Lectron and a before/after video. PLEASE!

I accidentally binge watched both the ZX6R and XR650R build series back to back today... Today was well spent.
Glad you’re doing ok 👍🏻
And glad you’re back
Hope you you get better man... Also like how you are a family man but make videos. Keep up the good work man.
Hands down the nicest XR build I've ever seen. Words cannot express how bad I want it. Lol
That moto geo dude has a built cbr600r enduro. Something like that would be a killer build, and very unusual....
Look up stunt freak team. They built a 1000cc gsxr into a dirtbike. Its nuts
I would love to see an old bike build! Something like 60s or 70s. Preferably a 2-stroke.
Awesome always wanted to do this to a xr650r got one in 2006 stollen out if garage 3 days later
Can't wait for the DRZ lectron carb install/review!
She turned out sweet! I'd take this over anything new today. Easier to work on and has a soul.
The red white and blue 80’s Honda hat I see you Jake the garden snake ❤️💙
For graphics big red pig would look amazing and yellow ,you can make to match the wheels color.
Such a badass build. I and many others would love to see a Sumo 2-Stroke build. Think KDX version of the big red battle tank.

just imagine a cbx with Lectron carbs.
DRZ build maybe ?
Vfr800 build. They are awesome
Love the bike, your awesome jake
It’s totally worth it.
Xr650r does have Cush drive on back of clutch basket stock
Do a comparison between this bike and a DR-Z.
Considering that it basically a whole new fucking bike and has premium parts in it, that's a fair price in my opinion
The longer i watch your vids, the more i realize you startin to look lile jake the snake roberts
Jake, You never disappoint me! *Explosion
I need some help. What is that rear fender extension/plate mount, called/brand? Where do I get it? Thanks
I found a mint xr650r in the next state over from me.. looks like it's only been riden on roads. But at 7k obo idk man. That's alota money.
Do a old school 2 stroke build maybe big bore? Cr500 or the kx500?!
Jake you could always wrap it up at InShaneDesigns
I love this bike, is mental the costs though... having done a custom job on my road bike, I can really see how easy it is to throw money at them! :-)
