Hello Family, today we see live aid concert and boy did it get crazy! I wanna hear your thoughts, comment, like, subscribe. Let's connect:linktr.ee/mrspenpal ❤
For many years when i was young and i would hear Crazy Little Thing Called Love on the radio, i was sure it was Elvis. Even when i got into Queen later and watched live concerts, i thought they were doing a cover. That's how well he was able to emulate various singers. You'll find several such tribute songs like: One Vision is a tribute to Martin Luther King Jr, Life is Real is a song for John Lennon, Somebody To Love is for Aretha Franklin, etc.
Live Aid was a duel-venue concert held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London (audience of 72,000) and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia (audience of 100,000) that was connected and broadcast over 13 satellites worldwide to an audience of over 1.9 Billion. The purpose of the concert was to raise money to aid Ethiopia which was suffering from 2-year drought. There were 75+ acts, each allotted a 20-minute slot to perform. The UK line-up included Status Quo,, David Bowie, Elton John, Wham!, Sting, U2, The Who, Paul McCartney, and Bob Geldof with his band The Boomtown Rats. The US bill included Madonna, Eric Clapton, Duran Duran, Mick Jagger, Paul Simon, Led Zeppelin, and Tom Petty. Phil Collins played in both London and then caught the Concord Supersonic Jet and flew to perform again in Philly. Paul Gambaccini, who was part of the BBC broadcasting team at Live Aid, recalled the awe among other superstar musicians watching backstage. “Everybody realized that Queen was stealing the show,” said Gambaccini. These were the very words Elton John uttered when he rushed into Freddie’s trailer after the set. “You bastards, you stole the show,” joked the charismatic star. “Queen smoked ’em. They just took everybody. They walked away being the greatest band you’d ever seen in your life, and it was unbelievable,” said Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters. “And that’s what made the band so great; that’s why they should be recognized as one of the greatest rock bands of all time because they could connect with an audience.” FYI - Freddie was performing against his doctor's orders. He had a throat infection and his doctor told him not to do the show, but of course, he was determined to do it anyway. Freddie wrote "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" while taking a bath in his hotel in Berlin. It took him about 10 minutes to write it. He was inspired and yelled for someone to bring him a guitar which he used to write the song. (Roger said that he never understood how Freddie got the guitar in the tub.) He wrote it as a tribute to Elvis Presley. Queen's playlist was: 1. Bohemian Rhapsody (just the ballad and guitar portion) 2. Radio Ga Ga (the song that inspired Lady Ga Ga's name) 3. Freddie's Call and Response 4. Hammer to Fall 5. Crazy Little Thing Called Love 6. We Will Rock You (just the first verse and guitar solo) 7. We Are The Champions The song that was cut off from the video is: 8. Is This The World We Created (performed by Freddie and Brian toward the end of the Wembley concert) here is the link to watch it - ua-cam.com/video/riwDo7_GxjM/v-deo.html
The Absolute Showman!! R.I.P. Freddie 😢 .. His Physician actually told him Not to do this Concert, because of what I heard was an infection in his Lungs!! Just Imagine Over 60,000 people singing Your Sons With You... Incredible!!!! Great Reaction Beautiful Woman ❤
Best concert I've ever attended. Freddie killed it that evening. Song is called Radio Ga Ga. I've still got my Live Aid Ticket. He had a throat infection that day. Back stage doctors advised him not to perform. Nicely laminated now and locked up in my safe.
Bo-Rhap ( written by Fred ) Radio Ga Ga ( written by Roger aka the drummer / backing vocals ) Hammer To Fall ( written by Brian aka guitarist / backing vocals ) Crazy Little Thing Called Love ( written by Fred ) We Will Rock You ( written by Brian ) We Are The Champions ( written by Fred ) John ( bass / backing vocals ) Also wrote songs like...Another One Bites The Dust. But. Since this is only a 20 minute set, & their catalogue is so huge. None of his songs happened to make this short set. Every act was only given 20min. each.
This is actually just a set in a concert that included a multitude of the best bands from several countries, mostly UK and USA. Each band was given a 20 minute slot to perform and this was Queen's set. A Queen Concert would be close to 3 hours, they have a lot of music to do at their shows. They start their current North America Tour in a couple of days. From the beginning, this looks like the wrong video, this one cuts off at the end which is a total buzz-kill. I wish this one would get taken down so reactors don't keep getting the bad one. Thank you for your reaction. Set List: Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga-Ga, (aay-oh call and response) Hammer To Fall, Crazy Little Thing Called Love (Freddie wrote this as a tribute to Elvis), We Will Rock You, We are The Champions. Later Freddie and Brian came out during the finale and did a song just guitar and vocal called "Is This The World We Created." Made it to the end, righ to the cut off ...grrr!!
We are the champions, my friends And we'll keep on fighting until the end We are the champions We are the champions No time for losers 'Cause we are the champions of the World
For me Freddie’s performance here with his throat and the show must go on, which I believe I’m right in saying he barely made it through and it was one take just shows how amazing he was. Him and Elvis greatest performers there has been.
hey girl great reaction, I was 20 years old when live aid was on, me and my girfriend at the time sat for 16 hours through live aid, Freddie was the star of the whole of live aid, Raising money for africa, The show was a 16 hour show, broke up, between the UK the US and australia with some smaller countries, doing bits in bwtween, and they were able to do it with the time zones, as one finished another would start at the similar time on the time zones, couple of things that dont get mentioned, all the performers game there time for free, US made a record as did the UK, US beat us hand down of the best record in my opinion, but we had the best of the live shows, also a fact that does not get mentioned, Phil Collins the Legend, who sang in the air tonight, performed in the UK live, jumped on a plane, flew againts the time zones and played in the US section of the concert, All this was arragend by 2 people, no internet, no mobiles phones, best they had was landline and a fax machine, I still say to this day, for music, fashion, new trends, the 80's was the best time, so many iconic music came from this era, that even gen x and gen z listen to today and enjoy,
The BEST live musical performance by any band, artist, singer, group, period!! There are Rock Musicians, Rock Stars, Rock Legends, Rock Gods, and then there's Queen❤
Best live performance ever! This wasn't a full concert only 20 minutes. All I can say is I wouldn't want to be the one to perform after them!!😂. Still lovel❤& miss u FREDDIE!!!!
Hi MrsPenPal! Queen definitely stole the show. Great reaction, so heartfelt and true. The songs order: 1) Bohemian Rhapsody. 2) Radio Ga Ga. 3) Ay-Oh (the top vocal showmanship). 4) Hammer to Fall. 5) Crazy little thing called love. 6) We will rock you. 7) We are the champions. Best wishes!
Bohemian Rhapsody” “Radio Ga Ga” “Ay‐Oh” /”Hammer to Fall” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” “We Will Rock You” “We Are the Champions” Was a memorable day if music!! Wish i coukd go relive it!! Great reaction!!
fact: Freddie wrote "Crazy little thing called love" in 10 minutes while taking a bath as a tribute to Elvis (especially his Honky Tonk days) as a result...this song is confused for an Elvis song (especially since impersonators sing it)
Carrying the mic stand was Freddie's trademark. It reportedly broke during one of their very early shows and he just went with it and always used it afterwards. Lady Gaga reportedly took her name from Radio Gaga. She was a fan of Queen.
4:42 Once upon a time there was a small box that was placed on a nightstand. The device had a Digital display of the current time in big Red numbers. It had a setting to set an Alert at a specific time, it could at the set time emit a LOUD annoying noise for several minutes or it could be set to emit Music. This device was called a Radio Alarm Clock. This song is a Love song to that Ancient Device. We LOVE you Radio.
On October 1, the premiere of a stunningly beautiful video for the song “Baikal” took place on Diana Ankudinova’s UA-cam channel. The soundtrack performed by Diana became the main musical theme of the film “The Spirit of Baikal,” which will be released in wide release on October 19, 2023. In the film itself, Diana voiced two roles - the spirit of Lake Baikal and the voice of the soul of the deceased mother of the main character of the film. The film received several top awards at film festivals.
We are the champions is a great song to end the show with because the whole thing was a charity event Freddys, pointing at the whole crowd, saying we are the champions basically calling all of these people in the crowd, the champions
Dear Mrs Pen Pal, my first view if your channel, I am really injoying you and your true conception of our Freddie. Thank you so much. I hope you stay with Queen, react to Someone to Love, White Queen and all the other Queen wonderful Queen music❤❤❤❤❤Freddie Forever, i a soon to be fan of yours❤❤❤❤
i watched live aid on the day it was the best music all day from lots of artists and queen was outstanding like most of the performers Freddie is the best front man arguably this was a fantastic day for music then when Wembley had finished the music was from the USA which was brilliant as well thank you for your reaction very good
I was 9 years old. When this was live on TV. Was broadcast. It was a collection day. To donate to the aid fund in Africa. Freddy, also had AIDS. But, it was a day with many more bands. Status Q. Simon and. Greetings from Spakenburg, Netherlands.
Wow it did? This is how the original I reacted to uploaded no wonder it felt abrupt to me. Thanks for watching till the end that’s amazing👏👏👏 #watchcrew
I often wonder if anyone of the 80,000 people inside Wembley Stadium really gaged and understood that they were witnessing what is pretty UNIVERSALLY acknowledged and agreed the greatest ever live performance in the history of Rock and Roll. By the same token my above question/statement could easily said about any one of the 2 billion+ people watching the event being televised live. I will say that I think nothing was lost on Freddie Mercury because you end up catching him a few times throughout Queen's set when he's completely out of breath and looking out deep into the crowd and I get the feeling he kind of knew that this performance was going to go down in history.
Strong, sexy, sincere Freddie lead singer of a band of four musicians who each aim to ENTERTAIN their fans. .... and they succeed, always! ( I've watched this Live Aid performance hundreds of times, never saw the blockage at 10:53, wha' happened?.) Enjoyed your reaction.
The list of songs they played: "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Radio Ga Ga", "Hammer To Fall", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions". 🙂👍
I have to add Freddie had a throat infection and was told by his doctors not to perform. His charisma and will to make people happy drove that performance. The band were/are all great in multitalented ways. The #1 group, imo, and I’ve agaonized over that decision, growing up with yhe Beatles, and do many other frat groups and performers from the 70s-80s-90s. But Freddie was just made most of ghe difference, although all four were instrumental in yhe “Wueen lobe fan club”, “Queenies”, we’ve been named. Biput we love them all for their uniqueness bith in Queen and solos on the side.
HEY Honey, Thank you for the lovely reaction! Just FYI… The performance did NOT actually cut off short like this video did! (The video you reacted to, is a CORRUPTED/CUT SHORT version that’s been circulating on YT for awhile now. If I knew how to get it taken down, I would! …Because countless reactors have used it, just to MISS OUT on the actual ending of this awesome set.) ANYWAY… Here’s a LINK to the ACTUAL, FULL video of the last song “We Are The Champions”… all the way through to the proper ending: ua-cam.com/video/FP808MiJUcM/v-deo.htmlsi=0qzaTq_jz8A0Jukr
Great reaction! 🥰 Other Queen Suggestions: - Innuendo (a very deep song) - Another one bites the dust (very rhythmic) - I want it all (very strong) - I want to break free - Under pressure - A kind of magic - You´re my best friend - Its a hard life ¡Saludos, desde Argentina!
As a solo artist Freddie wasn't a success. His album Mr Bad Guy flopped. However in 1987 he recorded with Monserat Caballiere the song for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic games called Barcelona. It was a world wide hit. Sadly he died in 1991 so never got to see or perform it at the games.
This performance is typical of Queen at Wembley Skip on one year to their 1986 magic tour and you will see them play Wembley. Equally go back to Xmas eve 1975 Queen live at Hammersmith, London 👍. Or try the Live Killers album from 1979 which was recorded over 3 nights in Paris. Also take a look at the film Bohemian rhapsody about Queen but mostly about the life of Freddie, it's not strictly exact but it's a view of what happened up to live aid. A second film is about to start filming.
I have to say Your Reaction is in the top 3 Best I've ever Watched, Your Attentiveness to So Much Detail was thoroughly a Blessing , and pursuing through the copyright for Us said, and meant so much! Very Unique, Personal, Special, Thank & Bless Your Heart, So Enjoyed Your Enjoyment 💖🙏😇
Freddie was asked which instrument he played in the band? ‘The audience darling’ was his answer. So true. He had 80k+ people in the palm of his hands. Radio Ga Ga is the second song which I believe came from Roger Taylor’s child. Out of interest Roger Taylor the drummer can hit E5 on the register.
That isn't the complete Queen set. Freddie and Brian came back later and sang IS THIS THE WORLD WE CREATED? From the 1984 works album. The song summed up live aid and why it needed to happen. Please try it.
Sorry, just found you; so, I’m late to the Comment Section! I’m a 66 y/o Glamma. You seem to enjoy the background of things. And, I’m a Trivia sponge, so here goes: They had just completed a Tour a month b4. So, they went & rented a Stadium to practice the performance. He ended up with a Throat Infection & the Doctor highly recommended he not do it bc he might lose his musical ability. He said no! Can you tell he had a severe throat infection? Most people think he was drinking booze from the cups bc on the piano. He’s drinking Honey & Tea. His command of the Audience was more than coincidence it was miraculous. Considering there were so many people there the sound was getting absorbed through them. So the people @ the back we’re following his hand gestures bc the actual sound hadn’t even reached them b4 the next sound was coming @ them. Go back & watch what his hands are doing & what the Audience is doing. NEXT: Radio Gaga is celebrating Radio bc M-TV is just getting started. LADY GAGA was a huge Freddie Fam growing up, so That was where she came up with HER STAGE NAME! You have to listen to the words to really understand the meaning. Most of us didn’t have a clue what a Band looked like unless we saw them in Person! NEXT-MICROPHONE. At sometime along the way a Microphone Stand broke, so that was the only spilt second solution they could come up with. He realized the freedom he had to move, dance, & engage the Audience. NEXT MICHAEL JACKSON & ELVIS CONNECTION on Song THING CALLED LOVE: It was written as his homage to Elvis-Freddie was a big fan. But, he just wasn’t sure about the song bc he didn’t want to taint Elvis. SO, he played it for Michael J. (Yes, they were friends!). And Michael told him he HAD TO, he said “Freddie, you have to”! (Can’t you just see that!?). NEXT FREDDIE’s VOICE. HE HAD 4 extra teeth so that’s the reason he had such an overbite. He had the ability to naturally flow from Octave to Octave. It was a natural progression, for him. SCIENTIFICALLY: Test were done on his Voice. He was able to use his Throat muscles on either side of his vocal cords. Which is normally seen in some Opera Singers. His Vocal Range was from Low Bass F, to High Soprano F! They were extremely surprised to find out that he could go from about 92Hz to 784Hz, effortlessly! See ACTUAL REPORT BELOW: nyone who has listened to a Queen track knows that Freddie has a unique ability that still has not been truly replicated since. His ability to blend highs, lows and mid range notes cohesively and with immense precision. This skill was due to the fact that Freddie was able to create faster vibrato and harmonics than any other singer at the time. Not only this, he was able to shift through registers effortlessly. Although he naturally held a baritone voice, he primarily sang as a tenor and of course had no problem then shifting into soprano parts. One study on Freddie’s vocal range even confirmed that he was able to vary from about 92.2 Hz to 784 Hz, meaning he was reliably able to hit notes from the booming low of F#2 to the high pitch G5 - that covers a full three octaves! LAST FUN FACT: His Lead Guitarist is playing on a Guitar he & his Father made. When he first starting to learn they were too poor to afford a high end guitar. So, they just made one! The included some “extras” that would normally have to be separate instruments to get all those features (think Concerts when you see guitarist changing Guitars depending on the Song….that’s why he didn’t)! I’m sorry to take up your Valuable Time, and I thank you. You need anymore Trivia I’m your G’Ma go to. My Brain is full, especially with music, & believe it or not Sports!
Great movie but filled with so many things that weren’t true. I am surprised Roger and Brian gave their stamp of approval. The thing that matters the most is that a whole new generation is introduced to Queen and loves their music.

Copy right owners of the song he sang there blocked it unfortunately thanks for watching
The list of songs they played: "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Radio Ga Ga", "Hammer To Fall", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions". 🙂👍
Love to see a new Queen reaction. ^_^ It's considered the best live performance ver.
Magnifico concerto grandissimi queen
HEY Honey,
Thank you for the lovely reaction!
Just FYI…
The performance did NOT actually cut off short like this video did! (The video you reacted to, is a CORRUPTED/CUT SHORT version that’s been circulating on YT for awhile now. If I knew how to get it taken down, I would! …Because countless reactors have used it, just to MISS OUT on the actual ending of this awesome set.)
ANYWAY…
Here’s a LINK to the ACTUAL, FULL video of the last song “We Are The Champions”… all the way through to the proper ending:

I wish I could figure out how to get it down also. Really ruins the concert.
I was there that day even though Freddie was advised by his doctor not to sing that day as he had laryngitis but Queen stole the day
Wow you were there! I bet it was unforgettable!
I'm 68 now memory failing but I'll never forget seeing Queen 4 times
The Song is........Radio GA GA
Saw it on the day back. In 85 👍
Very nice review, thank you
Saudades❤
Radio Gaga is where lady Gaga took her name from.
💥🔥That performance was fire ❗❗❗
You can say that again!
You need to start at studio album 1 and listen to the lot. You will see just how versatile, unique and talented Queen really are.
Lady gaga got her name from Radio Gaga
I've seen Queen 3 times, twice with Freddy and once with Adam Lambert
Great reaction! 🥰
Other Queen Suggestions:
- Innuendo (a very deep song)
- Another one bites the dust (very rhythmic)
- I want it all (very strong)
- I want to break free
- Under pressure
- A kind of magic
- You´re my best friend
- Its a hard life
¡Saludos, desde Argentina!
Enjoyed your reaction
Awwh thanks for watching ✨
You're fun to watch.
Spelt her name wrong lol
Loving your walls. I am jealous, L had to use egg boxes.
Thank you 😅
This performance is typical of Queen at Wembley
Skip on one year to their 1986 magic tour and you will see them play Wembley.
2nd song is called radio ga ga
I have to say Your Reaction is in the top 3 Best I've ever Watched, Your Attentiveness to So Much Detail was thoroughly a Blessing , and pursuing through the copyright for Us said, and meant so much! Very Unique, Personal, Special, Thank & Bless Your Heart, So Enjoyed Your Enjoyment 💖🙏😇
Awwh your comment is so heartfelt it touched me. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts with us in the comments ✨
Still here ! Great reaction Please check out MADONNA LIVE AID from same concert ,again alot of energy !
Still here
Thanks for your participation Jay ✨
Amei a reação! Mais tarde Freddie e Brian voltaram ao palco para cantar "Is this the word we created", vale muito a pena uma reação ❤
❤
That isn't the complete Queen set. Freddie and Brian came back later and sang IS THIS THE WORLD WE CREATED? From the 1984 works album. The song summed up live aid and why it needed to happen. Please try it.
If you ever do a reaction to Queen’s official video for Radio Gaga, you can see where the inspiration for the handclap part is for the audience to do.
You need Korn Woodstock 1999, and I NEED
Made it to the end, great reaction!
Wow what an attention you have! Thanks for watching Larry #watchcrew✨
Sorry you got the incorrect version of this. This one cuts off before the end of the concert.
They made a movie, not the queen movie, the greatest showman with hugh jackman, ....freddie was the greatest showman, ahead of his time
No one can not sing with Freddie.
Lady Gaga got her name from Queen radio gaga
Thanks for sharing ✨
it might have been said already, but freddie had a bad throat infection, and was advised by doctors not to sing, he was only at 75% his best,
100%
See ACTUAL REPORT BELOW:
nyone who has listened to a Queen track knows that Freddie has a unique ability that still has not been truly replicated since.
This was a fun read Glamma Lisa thanks for sharing ❤️✨
Lady gaga took her name from Queen
es un guiño a elvis
You need to watch bohemian rhapsody film ❤
Great movie but filled with so many things that weren’t true. I am surprised Roger and Brian gave their stamp of approval. The thing that matters the most is that a whole new generation is introduced to Queen and loves their music.
No copyright on this fyi.
Radio Ga-ga is where Lady Gaga got her name.
Yes yes yes Radio gaga
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Freddie had a throat infection that day, which is why some of his notes are so falcetto-ish and rough.
Nobody knows I worked with Alice Cooper, nor my cousin's best man was Peter Brown (do you wanna get funky with me)
U need to watch Freddy in opera. Barcalona
Lady Gaga, took her name from the heading, “Radio Gaga”.
I think this song is where lady gaga got her name
