Thanks so much for watching! I hope you found this video on the first line of a book for children's books helpful. Be sure to find me over on Instagram & TikTok, so we can connect there as well!
Lovely examples. I think I got it right as my first children's book begins: "Once upon a New Years' Day, over the hills and faraway, in a little village called Merry May, the villagers awoke to find their fields and gardens full of froaks."
This is one of my favorite videos of yours. I find it so helpful! I am in the middle of publishing a series of four books and I'm finishing up book 2's first page currently. I didn't have a very strong beginning at first but now, since this is a series, I plan to start each book roughly the same way. (I have book 3 and 4 stories written already as well, so all I have yet to focus on is illustrating and formatting it.)
Thank you for sharing these great tips! Always appreciate your insights. These tips are also useful for most social media, where attention-grabbing is also paramount!
Your tips and invaluable, thank you very much. When you read off a script, you may need to find a way to look at the camera, because otherwise, it seems a little artificial. Thank you!
I have a story that I told my kids when they were little. Then I told the stories to my grad kids, but now, with internet help, the kids cousins got involved. So I began the story and then sent it to all the kids. One of the kids would write the next chapter and send it forward. One of the other cousins would continue the story. So my question is, I want to publish the stories the kids all helped with. But I want new kids to continue the story and send it to a cousin or friend. I would teachers to do it too. It has been a wonderful adventure. Girls usually have a fairy and cute animals and the boys have sward fight and adventures. How can I do this? I want to publish a book that kids can share and make their fanticies grow. Is their a way kids can download a story and share it. This has been so much fun, I would love lots of kids to be a part of this. The kids make their ideas count and not just get stuck with many internet games. They are thinking and using their imaginations and sharing ideas. If you know awaybI can do this, pleae sharevyourvideas. I really enjoy your posts and have encouraged many others to watch you. Thanks.
Hi Laurie! Encouraging little ones to use their imagination this way is such a wonderful way keep them off screens! Creating a book with different story prompts might be a great way to get them started. You could share your instructions in that same book, where you let your readers know to begin writing down their story, and then send it out (perhaps as a Google doc) to the next person to add their own parts. Again, you can share your instructions either in that same book, or create your own website and share your instructions there (perhaps as a video?). I so hope this helps!
Your videos are very informative and I love to see them all. But there is one thing that stops me. It feels hasty and you dont make eye contact with your viewers. I hope you improve these aspects in your next videos 😊
