    In the Philippines, some Philippine Natives mention about a God who visited them way before Spanish came.
    Jesus is the God of the world. And He visited all of His sheeps outside Jerusalem.

    It’s called Quetzalcoatl and so many people say it’s not like Jesus at all because it’s technically a feathered serpent. So you’re telling me that if what happened in the Book of Mormon is true and everyone lost their faith or died that Jesus couldn’t be told through stories and become that due to unfaithfulness. It’s crazy to me that people can’t see the obvious parallels

      Snakes or serpents are an ancient symbol of Godhood. This is why Satan came in the form of a serpent. It was part of his deception. Christ in the symbol of a serpent is perfect, really.

      Quetzalcoatl was depicted as a feathered serpent to represent half heaven half earth, which, I think, points to Jesus even more.

      What he says is in there (in the Chilam Balam) It talks about a son of God. This isn't necessarily definitively talking about a previous visitation to the Maya however, as parts of the text date to the time of the Spanish conquest. It is hard to say whether the writings are referring to things that were learned from the Spanish or were traditions held by the Maya. Either way it is pretty interesting.

      JS never stated locations, in fact he was just as intered in discovering the setting as the rest of us. He was very intrigued by the discovery of Maya ruins and said "it would not be a bad idea to compare then with the Book of Mormon".
      There are groups today trying to claim that Joseph definitively identified certain areas, but subsequent prophets and the current church leadership today has made it very clear that there hasn't been any revelation about it, and we are to study it out ourselves.

    I have problems with the Mesoamerican model because its "narrow" neck of land is about 140 miles across, and it runs East-West, while in the text it can be crossed in a day and a half and it runs North-South.
    I find more evidences for the Andes model with the Amazon basin underwater before Christ. Since BoM people went North in Hagoth's ships it is not surprising to find legends and evidences for the Book of Mormon in Mesoamerica and North America.

    I have no doubt that these are one group likely among many, who were visited by Christ. But honestly, when it comes to creating a second Hill Cumorah when it had already been identified by Bro. Joseph, that makes tourism sense alone and made Winchester happy during his lifetime. What about now, though? When Joseph said, "That man will do much harm to the Church", I believe that has well been fulfilled as far as causing interferance to church membership and unnecessarily causing apostacy. Look to Joseph.

    • @Kimmer

      Joseph never identified the location of the hill Cumorah! People began calling the hill where he found the plates Cumorah. Joseph, like most early Saints, believed Book of Mormon geography encompassed all of the American continent. The fact is most evidence points to the Book of Mormon taking place in Mesoamerica. But of course their descendants very well may have migrated north so we should expect to see evidence of these ancient people all over the American continent.

    • @whitneypay515

      Yes I agree, Joseph Smith did say it happened in America. Why the Church allows this channel to represent our history while rejecting all the Homeland models is crazy.

    • @Kimmer
      @Kimmer 5 місяців тому +1

      @@whitneypay515 You are incorrect. Joseph never said that. You and other heartland model evangelists cherry pick quotes to buoy up your false narratives. Scripture Central is the best scholarship information source available with numerous respected scholars. By the way, they support the Church position on geography by saying that it isn't known exactly where events took place. But apparently you know better than Church leaders? They do sometimes allude to evidences from Mesoamerica because the strongest evidence shows that this is most likely where events took place. Many of these scholars acknowledge that Lamanite descendants may have migrated northward after the period of the Book of Mormon ended around 425 A.D. Educate yourself rather than evangelize a geography model that is supported by a small minority of LDS scholars.

      @@whitneypay515 The Church has nothing to do with this channel so why would you think they should control its content? Also, if you watched the video, they don't advocate for any particular geography model. Those who evangelize the Heartland model are so obsessed that it seems that's all they are focused on and are contentious. The fact of the matter is that the majority of scholars who study this topic do believe events took place in Mesoamerica because that's what the facts and evidence show.
