8:49 Mold tip: use strong paper towel strips dipped in bleach water 50/50 mixture and leave in those mold areas to prevent sporilation and kill all the potential mold spores. Leave for a few hours, remove paper towels and dry completely. Paper acts as a filter to keep the spores from becoming airborne and settling elsewhere. Works great on tile too! you make it look soooo easy....I'm planning on vinyl planking my basement stairs. I'm nervous but I know I can do it. Thanks for the step by step video. It was very helpful. 🙂
Thank-you for this tutorial! I'm due with baby #4 in a couple months and we want to get rid of carpet in the room that the baby will be in. This video really took the mystery out of the project! Quick question, how long did it take you to do the bedroom? Start to finish from removing carpet to replacing trim? Thanks!
@@Fixintobuild congrats on #2! It’s so fun to see how siblings interact and see different personalities. You’ll love it! Approx how long did it take to put down the flooring in the bedroom after the carpet was removed?
Your floor looks great and I got some super tips from your instructions. (DUDE, why couldn't I have seen this before I pulled THOUSANDS of staples after removing my carpet!) I did have a question about underlayment. Was there a reason you didn't need it? I have heard that even with the flooring that has it built in, you should still use a thin one. Thanks and great video. I ready to remove my damaged laminate and go vinyl!
Appreciate your kind words! And to answer your question every manufacturer of flooring has their own guidelines about using underlayment. Every since I started installing vinyl plank (about 6 years ago) it has always been recommended to not use an underlayment, and I haven’t. All the vinyl plank floors I’ve installed are still in good shape today. However with laminate it is completely different, and you should always use an underlayment with laminate, it is a much different material and thickness. A lot of people use the terms “laminate” and “vinyl” interchangeably and it’s just plain wrong, two totally different materials. Hope this helps!
Hello, I just don't know what lvp to buy. I want quality, but reviews have been negative to mediocre for cheap to expensive. Could you offer some shopping suggestions. I am doing a small room. Thanks
Vinyl plank is 100% waterproof meaning it doesn’t require a moisture barrier. Besides all the moisture in a bathroom comes from above the floor not below. However that may be code in some areas, just not my area. Good observation though
My house is getting to that age where it needs this kind of love. I noticed you didn't check the floor for levelness? Afterwards did you find that you had any issues?
Thank you! And to answer your question, it depends! If you’re baseboard is flush to the floor then yes, If there is a large enough gap to slide the flooring underneath, no but you still need a 1/4” gap from the wall itself, so I would still recommend using a spacer and using a shoe moulding or quarter round to cover the gaps all the way around!
Here’s something you want to avoid when laying the floor. No joint lines should match up with the other no staircase effect and no H pattern. It should be completely random that way the floor will stay together and be strong.
I did not run into this problem on this project. I have ran into a lot of these issues at clients houses though, and it is a pain! I may make a video about it in the future
Hi Lone, I am going to go with vinyl flooring for my kitchen. there are two types. One is more and no "cork" backing. the other cheaper but I like the color better. What do you recommend. I want the cheaper one because of the color but I want to pay more for a better backing. What do you suggest? Does the "cork" backing make a better floor? thx.
@@Fixintobuild duralux? the colors are so close. can i add cork?seeing nucore they are more expensive with cork backing. I may pay more for a little different color and cork backing.
Any pattern is acceptable as long as the joints are at least 6” apart, you want joints staggered otherwise it could separate easier. Some people go with a “stair step” pattern, some people go “brick pattern” or even “1/3 offset” but I prefer just random lengths. To me it looks more natural and less manufactured

I've been watching videos on installing these floors. This was the best by far. Now I'm very excited about starting the installation. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
I agree it’s a very easy to follow video .
It’s easy anyone can lay these floors if you can cut and measure you can lay the floor
Hey, Thank you! New carpet plus professional installation costs too much. I appreciate that you shared your project and advice.
I have to say doing half the room at a time is genius!
great simply easy video. no fluff right on point.
I watched a bunch of these videos. This is the simplest and most informative 👍
Excellent job, young man!

Do you need to do the expansion space on all 4 corners ? Thank you
Yes, typically

Our house is actually newer, the floors are still pretty level lol. We just couldn’t stand the carpet anymore
Is underlayment needed when flooring over a concrete slab?
100% depends on manufacturer, but typically no
How much space should be at the edge?

Does it need underlay actually?
Hey, why didnt you use an underlay?
Hi I can't seem to figure out where the cut end should lay and how to get the panel to stay together

Wow so nice I like
Here’s something you want to avoid when laying the floor. No joint lines should match up with the other no staircase effect and no H pattern. It should be completely random that way the floor will stay together and be strong.
Are you right up against the wall on any of the sides? Or all sides have expansion space?
All sides should have a gap
I wish you included how long it took you to finish a room
Both of these rooms were done the same day I started. It goes pretty quick!
Just wondering you did half the flooring - did you encounter any uneven flooring requiring leveling?
I did not run into this problem on this project. I have ran into a lot of these issues at clients houses though, and it is a pain! I may make a video about it in the future
Can you install this over original hardwood floors?
Yes you can!

Have a couple of boxes as spares, they become obsolete. 😅 👊🤘✌️
Love your kitties
I think you have to use flooring underlaying for airflow and water protection bro.
Not for this flooring. Manufacturers standards do not require underlayment for waterproof vinyl flooring.
🥴🥴
What color is your Shaw flooring?
Toffee Elm!
Love it! Thanks!
Why not put your first piece up against or under the trim gap?
All floating floors require an expansion gap, if the flooring is too tight against the framing it will surely move over time

@@jtompkins1277 good luck sir!
@@Fixintobuild Thanks, I need all the luck I can get.
Why did u start by the door?
No underlayment?
Vinyl plank does not need underlayment, you’re thinking of laminate flooring. Unless the manufacturer specifically requires it, this one does not
No spacers on the edge walls?
Solud instructions.
PLEASE NEED TO COLLABORATE WITH SOME ONE SO WE CAN BE SELLING THE PRODUCT IN GHANA AND WEST AFRICA
Ok.ok.
There are better spacers that u don't have to tape
this is a hybrid board vinyl planks don’t have click systems
