My son was a cheerleader in high school and faced bullying. I’m proud of how he handled himself with self respect and dignity! Oh and a little smack talk that the bullies weren’t ready for. 😉 He made them realize how foolish they were being and even still speaks with a few of them. I’m proud of how he didn’t allow stereotypes to stop him from cheering!

Years ago, I knew a guy who wrestled, seriously for years--started as a kid, and by the time he was finishing up in high school--he was PRETTY good--but not enough to get a scholarship from it. About this time, one of his friends--female, told him they needed someone to "help" with the cheerleaders that day. He went over there, joking around and laughing--long story short, he got his scholarship to a major university--in Hawaii, not for wrestling. What do they say? Whatever works.

I was bullied relentlessly for being very quiet and different, but I realized I was stronger than they were and was raised better, it was more of a reflection of them than me. Every kid who has been bullied needs to hear that message. Life goes on past high school.

Herschel practiced for and entered dance competitions with his sister, as well as doing ballet with Fort Worth Ballet. So, I'm guessing he has some understanding. Tumbling, throwing, and basing are all intricate and difficult work. I think Christian has outstanding potential and he can use HIS genes as HE sees fit.
