In US news and current events today, millionaire Dan Price, CEO of Gravity Payments, begged his representatives to tax him more in order to increase funding that helps people experiencing homelessness.
“We can’t solve these systemic issues through private solutions,” Price said. “It can’t be done. We’ve tried over and over again.”
Dan Price has become known for his progressive activism after cutting his own salary by $1.3M to give all his employees a base salary of $70K.

@SJW libtard wrecker - I'ts not stealing, it's called taxes. It's what pays for everyones medicines development and the solution for covid19. It's what pays for elderly health care and for roads and police that protect your families. Stealing is wrong if it's taxes by your definition, what you suggesting would result is anarchy. Sure this idea is great, but very very few people are like him and very few work for the benefit of others. Most people work for money. So they could buy ferraris, mansions and would never have to work again. This guy is different. He earns 70k a year. Which is comfortable but it cant afford luxury such as an expensive car. Most people get their motivation by working for that car and if they couldnt get to it because of taxes since they just wouldnt have enough spare money to get such things they, wouldnt be motivated and wouldnt expand their buisness which would end up for the worst. There would be 164846156489646516 different buisnesses and they would all earn the same amount. Doesnt matter if theyre macdonalds or some new bakery. Which is TERRIBLE. It is very similar to communism infact. Its the same idea and execution. So its basically modern day communsim.. And we know how that goes.

if a company is publicly traded, they will value the success of the investor over that of the employee. if would be nice if all ceos had this philanthropic trait, but getting a business off the ground would be very difficult and there would be less opportunity for those making sound financial decisions. companies compensate for this discrepancy by providing stock options to their workers.

This man is literally the boss and his employees can afford the same car he can. So what you say isn't true. It always depends on the perception of the boss. Chances are, a millionaire and entrepreneur like him already did the math and thinks he can sacrifice a couple bucks for government use. If he doesn’t, he already had accountants to that for him.
Because let’s be real here: no matter how big a charity is, they can’t do everything. They can’t guarantee housing, regulate the prices of healthcare, enforces the law, etc. Not even charities like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (owned by the richest person in the world) can do it. All the work that charity does are good, but a lot of them are short-term and has small impact. To enact better and more concrete change, they need to work together with the government, since only the government has authority in those area.

@@Potjandorie Perhaps the perspective you should consider is that people have different skill sets and strengths. Being a top-tier businessman doesn't mean you are remotely able to do the job of your company technician, nor does it mean you could handle the attention to detail required to accountancy. A business owner may have ideas and direction, but he cannot execute without his team. Similarly, the team has nowhere to work should there be no business owner. It's a symbiotic relationship where everyone depends on each other to sustain themselves.
What you're expressing is the idea that there is no motivation whatsoever to run a business if you aren't earning more than anyone else. Never mind that that discounts any business started on basis of an ideal or a passion (Which are far fewer in number as opposed to profit motives, of course), it assumes that the business owner has to be placed on a pedestal higher than the other workers. But the motivation could simply be to earn your living doing a job (management) you might be strong in, versus doing a job you aren't good at.
This of course doesn't have to discount the concept of skilled labor and education. In the video the CEO expressed a 70k minimum income for all his workers, but assuming that is what his lowest skilled worker (like a cleaner) makes, his higher skilled workers could easily make double or triple that amount.
And this all rounds back to your point that companies have to raise the price of products in order to make up for paying their employees more. That is a falsely attributed point. Companies cannot raise wages without raising prices because it would result in the owners or shareholders earning less. And as I'm sure dozens of people have mentioned, these are normally people earning far more money than they could possibly ever know what to do with. If they're earning 10 million dollars a year, how much would their lifestyles change if that got reduced to 8 million? Lets be realistic here - not much, and that's the point.

Also, The USA has a rich history of a more progressive tax structure. FDR was so populAR THAT HE WAS ELECTED 4 TIMES. Republicans came up with term limits for the presidency after that. Just return 50% of the way it used to be in that era in terms of taxes, and the country improves for everyone.

@@FowlorTheRooster1990 You are not willing to take calculated risks, so you don't reap the benefits. Say there are two separate farmers (A&B), and they want to increase their profits. Invest in an improving their equipment could be a possibility. But there is a possibility that improved equipment wouldn't increase production enough to gain back the money spent on equipment at a reasonable time, and a possibility that the farmers wouldn't profit from the decision, so there is a risk. Because of that risk Farmer B doesn't invest, but Farmer A does. The equipment does end up increasing the production enough to increase profit, so Farmer A reaps the benefits while Farmer B does not. Now let's say Farmer B works for Farmer A in a way that Farmer B does all the physical labor and Farmer A makes all the decisions. Because of their positions they agree on Farmer B being paid $30 an hour no matter the state of the company since Farmer A is making the business decisions that impact the company, and Farmer B's labor would be roughly the same regardless. Let's say Farmer A decides to hire another worker, and that in turn makes the company lose some of it's profit. Farmer A takes that loss and Farmer B still gets paid 30 an hour. Now if later the decision ends increasing production enough to gain a big increase in profit, Farmer A reaps that benefit, and Farmer B and the additional worker who did not make the decision, did not. My point is if somebody is not willing to risk depending on the state of the company for income because of potential loses, then why should they gain when the company does well?

I remember when he first increased his staffs wages and so many people said his business would fail and laughed at him but they all got real quiet when he actually grew his business. Also the most heartwarming little story is during covid his company was just 3 months away from being forced to close and his staff came to him and asked to give up some of their wages to help keep the company going, one man even worked for free as his partners wage could pay the bills, I guess you reap what you sow. Not only did his company make it out of the covid restrictions but also helped many other small businesses to stay afloat, there is a great video about it on UA-cam

CEOs should be content with $35k a year. If they aren't incentivized enough to do good work at that salary, then they definitely don't deserve to make any more. They should just be happy and grateful to serve others, like good little slaves. If they can't afford groceries, that's too bad. They should improve the quality of their work, and maybe then they can have a raise.

By the numbers my county was granted just short of 2 Billion to help 3000 homeless yet they're still all on the street. Upon further investigation I found that about 60% is going to government salaries, we don't need higher taxes we need more efficient use of taxes.
