Got my very first dirtbike this past summer at the age of 32. Wanted something with enough get but not too much that would be dangerous. Also wanted something brand new, but also budget friendly. Went with the ssr 189, and about 15 hours on it, and it’s running absolutely awesome. So happy with my bike. I’ll probably get me a KX 250 in a few years, once I’m a bit more experienced. But man my SSR is perfect for me as a beginner rider. Great value for your money, that’s for sure. Instead of paying around 8K for a YZ 125, I paid 2.5 K for a 189cc bike. Obviously the quality isn’t on par with the premiums, but that doesn’t mean it’s crap quality either. I’m so happy with it tho
I have a 2006 Thumpstar 110cc, it’s a great learner bike. I broke my arm on it, but I love it. Even after the crash, it started right up. I’m looking for a new bike for when I learn it throughly. Thanks for this review!
Honestly I would go for a big name bike instead. Try to find a used ttr125, klx125, or a crf125. You can generally find a pretty good deal on them, they’re quite a bit taller than this bike, a lot more power, and they are miles more reliable. I would personally rather but a 15 year old yamaha than a brand new SSR
ABadNightmare of course. My younger brother used to have a cheap knockoff 110 and yesterday I just bought a yamaha ttr110 and the difference is night and day. 10x more reliable, the power is so much more usable, you feel more confident riding a bike that you know can take the beating you give it. I personally think that if you’re going to be keeping the bike for a long time, it’s better to save up and buy something really good
I just traded my old quad for a 2016 ssr sr125....When i heard it was a "pit bike" i figured it would ne cool for my lods to ride. But then when i jumped on it, i really enjoyed it more than i had expected....THEN i fot online and seen how many easy bolt on upgrafes there are for them and how big pf a following they have developed (especiallythe SSR's) i kinda fell in love qith it. Yes, it has so e cjeap parts that need to be replaced to make it a bit stronger/faster, but they are cheap parts. Its a bike that both of my kids will be learning to ride clutch on and i know its gonna get beat up, but hey...when u can just buy a whole new motor for 300 bucks, how can u go wrong. If i go out and spend 2 or 3 grand on a honda or any name brand, its gonna get beat to hell anyways, so these bikes are perfect fpr learners......although i certainly dont miss it wen i jump back on my YZ 125.lol but the neighbors call the vops on me when she fires up, the SSR is more neighbor friendly and just all around easier to get away eith riding in places im not supposed to
SSR is pretty decent quality. Buy one and watch a few UA-cam videos and you can learn everything you need to know about maintenece. They are pretty solid, but as was mentioned you may have to replace some parts eventually

My old ssr 125 was the biggest pos I’ve ever owned. Straight up no bs, if your chain comes off or snaps your case will most likely be cracked, chain always had issues. Either being adjustment issues or the tensioner backing itself loose, the carb isn’t jetted right it, the bike would never idle correctly out of the box. I’ll never buy another Chinese bike due to this pos lol
Love your vids and been watching for a while. One tip Id suggest when recording is zoom out a little when holding it to talk. Also a tripod where you stand next to the bike and talk about it would be good to change it up throughout the vid. I get its probably easier to get clear audio up close and easier to transition to zooming in on what youre talking about, just a different view is always nice. I think it makes me feel like Im standing right next to you and Im thinking back up and give him his space lol idk maybe Im weird, just something to experiment with. Also get out on the track and do more on that and some bigger jumps would be cool. Glad your back on yt though!

SSR is over priced. One thing about chinese retailers they change the names and the look of there products just to say its a new bike and up the price. Thats SSR bike is the same bike as other apollos or coolsters. All they do is tweak it a little like upgrade the carb or shock and call it something else. Buy the cheaper one that looks the same as the expensive one and then just buy the upgraded parts or what ever the expensive one is claiming they upgraded and put them on yourself and save yourself a few hundred bucks or thousands in some cases. SSR bikes are way more expensive but share the same frame and engine as less expensive ones. Like the tao tao dbx1 140cc is the same bike as the apollo rfz 140cc bike just cheaper. The coolster M125 is the same as one of the SSR bikes too. Just look into what you want and look at the other brands to see what is the same and what the difference is and buy the upgraded parts, the parts are dirt cheap.
Amante Apasionado I agree, ssr is a little overpriced, especially some particular bikes, however. I own a SSR 125tr and got it for $1200. It’s a BEAST! It has a Mikuni carb on it and never has any issues. I think Ssr makes better Chinese pit bikes. Apollo’s have a bad problem of bogging. Also the Frame on the Apollo is a single tube frame, unlike the double bar steel frame on the Ssr 125tr. I think Ssr is a better pit bike brand tbh...
Have one and have had it for 1 year now and I love it all I needed to fix a chain on it and a clutch I broke doing wheelies and I need to take a link off my chain the power on it is crazy

Are parts hard to find ? Heard they’re not made in the US. I’m a beginner and never rode one before but want to try something and not spend to much money as I’m testing it out. Mostly use for mountain riding with my family off reading they’re utv.
I would say the ssr has more seat room than the grom just cause the stock seat on a grom is awkward. But over all ssr is much lighter than the grom and has more power. They are similar size but the ssr has a more natural riding stance

Not nearly as fun....and i was the biggest critic of anytging thats chunese made, but the SSR was a surprisingly decent bike. Plenty of torque and speed....u pay way less bevause its chinese, and i understand that means you may have to ride and wait until u find parts that commonly fail or are flawed to replace, but once u do and u get aftermarket parts to replace those, you have a decent bike....i loved mine so much i just orderdd the piranha 140 for it.cant wait

Um are u crazy u didn’t know that it was all old honda parts on all of there bikes
Where can i buy it in the uk
Nice bike
just buy a used xr100 for the same god damn price
Not nearly as fun....and i was the biggest critic of anytging thats chunese made, but the SSR was a surprisingly decent bike. Plenty of torque and speed....u pay way less bevause its chinese, and i understand that means you may have to ride and wait until u find parts that commonly fail or are flawed to replace, but once u do and u get aftermarket parts to replace those, you have a decent bike....i loved mine so much i just orderdd the piranha 140 for it.cant wait
@@reneerothwell8972 put 22mm mikuni carburetor on it with a aftermarket filter
