Do you have this sort of troubleshooting video for garage door openers that are, pretty much, over 30 years old? My remote (along with any replacement) doesn't work, but the interior button manages to activate the door.
Alex Derus Thanks for watching Alex. We appreciate you reaching out to us. Let’s get this figured out together! We will need the actual Model number of your specific Garage Door opener. In most cases this can be found on the actual garage door unit. This will allow us to pull up the specifications on your opener so we can help you solve your DIY project. Keep us posted! Please subscribe to the channel and turn on your UA-cam notification Bell 🛎 that would be awesome thanks again! 😎👍🔧🔩
Alex Derus Excellent & thanks for the reply! We did some research & found the most common cause is a faulted internal logic board. You might need to search google & Ebay & find a new “Universal” Chamberlin remote. You may also find that your best option may be Chamberlin customer service. Keep us posted!
Alex Derus Thanks for the reply. You will need to purchase the Universal remote. Your programming steps are a little different however still DIY user friendly. You may even find used remotes for your specific opener on Ebay. 😎👍🔧🔩
Mine works perfectly fine from the wall but the remote does not work at all. I have changed remote, battery and reprogrammed to no avail please advise.
If the reprogramming process isn't able to complete, chances are the circuit board in the opener may be shot. In my case, the garage door opener only worked with the wired wall switch. The wireless keypad, the two remotes, and the onboard car remotes were not able to be programmed. (The lights didn't blink at the end of the 'learning' process as it had before).
Good morning, welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. That’s a great question & the most likely cause relates to the units antenna. It’s very likely that the antenna wire located on the unit is damaged. Being damaged will not allow remote to communicate with garage door from a greater distance such as inside vehicle outside of garage. A friendly inspection of the garage door unit and wiring will help determine if antenna is damaged or not. Please keep us posted. Us DIYers need to stick together! Thanks again Marvin. 😎👍
Thanks for watching. By chance is there a little wire hanging out of the bottom of your ceiling mounted motor? This is your antenna. If it’s damaged, crimped, or pushed up all the way inside motor casing, your remotes will have a very difficult time connecting to antenna. @@DIYwithMichaelBorders thanks for reply- nope, dont have wifi/internet, or electronic security system. This is the 2nd clicker that just stopped working 80% of the time. Hannibal Barca Thanks for the reply, any visible corrosion on internal electrical leads where battery rest? A simple cleaning may go a long way. It is Written Thanks for watching & sharing your experience. Let’s get this figured together. Have you recently installed a new WiFi system, security system, or new LED bulbs inside garage door opener? These items are the most common interferences with remotes. Also, any recent power lines near house in the last few months? It’s possible that you need to reprogram your Travel System. Definitely will look into this. Thank you very much. Remote is about one year old. Though it’s not the original. We have a genie garage door opener.Just recently bought a new battery. Again, thank you so much
Thanks for watching & that’s no fun...🤔 This is common when the systems logic board’s radio frequency is interfered with. A few things to consider. 1. Do you have LED bulbs installed in your garage door unit? Certain brand LED bulbs will interfere with the radio frequency of your unit and not allow it to work as designed. 2. Any recent WiFi or security system installs added to your home? These systems can interfere with the frequency as well if not placed and installed properly. 3. Any recent powerlines installed within a close proximity of your property? Keep us posted. 😎👍🔧🔩
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Each sensor is secured in place on its frame by a wingnut. Carefully loosen wingnut and adjust sensor to align it with opposite side sensor. The problem I am having is the remote control only works when I am in the garage. When I step outside the remote control will not close or open the garage door.
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. You may need to reprogram your Travel System. Below is a link to our video showing how to do this. ua-cam.com/video/M6d9IMjyze4/v-deo.html 😎👍🔧🔩
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Is your unit working as designed with the red light present? If not, one or both sensors will have to be realigned.
My garage door remotes work intermittently. After working just fine then there appears to be no signal getting through. It is the same with more than one remote. If you wait a few minutes, it will work again. The indoor wall remote works every time.
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. You may want to inspect the inside of your remote to ensure that there is no corrosion/rust buildup that is interfering with the electrical output & signal near the battery. so I have a problem where my safety sensors both lit, garage door will not open from the wall control. door wants to move but barely does. light does a quick blink then stays lit
Ryan Chesebro Thanks for watching Ryan. Has there been a recent power outage or have you unplugged system recently? A power outage can unfortunately set it out of travel. It’s unlikely however we can’t rule it out. Has there been anything that has possibly made contact with the aluminum rails? Check your rails and verify that they are not offset in any manner. Keep us posted. 😎👍🔧🔩
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders I really think it's perhaps the control board I took the sensors off and hooked them up and it still does the same thing where it will sometimes barely lift the door almost like there is something in the way but everything looks fine. I did have a power outage I want to say back in August
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders it does the same thing as the light on the opener one quick flicker. imagine pressing the button and the opener light comes on and the door maybe moves a couple inches if that. sometimes nothing happens at all. sometimes it takes 6-10 presses to get it to move another 2 inches. after a bit of frustration it the motor will fully engaged the trolly to move the entire way. which is why I'm leaning towards the control board
Brian Hynd What’s up Brian, thanks for watching. Let’s get this figured out. Have you already completed the re-programming remote steps?.....if yes....did you recently install new LED bulbs into unit? Some LED bulbs will actually interfere with the frequency of the remotes. Any recent security system install or new WiFi/modem install in home? Keep us posted. Us fellow DIY’ers need to stick together. 😎👍🔧🔩
Could be RF radio frequency interference also. If you changed regular light bulbs on garage door opener to LED bulbs this could cause interference and the remote may not work.

Excellent & thanks for the reply! We did some research & found the most common cause is a faulted internal logic board. You might need to search google & Ebay & find a new “Universal” Chamberlin remote.

Mine works perfectly fine from the wall but the remote does not work at all. I have changed remote, battery and reprogrammed to no avail please advise.
Same here man.
Same here man,😥
If the reprogramming process isn't able to complete, chances are the circuit board in the opener may be shot. In my case, the garage door opener only worked with the wired wall switch. The wireless keypad, the two remotes, and the onboard car remotes were not able to be programmed. (The lights didn't blink at the end of the 'learning' process as it had before).
What if you have no other way to get inside of your garage and the remote isn't working 🤣
I had to lift my siding and cut hole in plywood lol
My dilema at the moment 😢
Mine to, power out locked out
I ended up breaking in the window 😂
Question; My remote works from inside the garage- both to open and close door. But it doesn't work outside from car. What does this mean??
Good morning, welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. That’s a great question & the most likely cause relates to the units antenna.
It’s very likely that the antenna wire located on the unit is damaged.
Being damaged will not allow remote to communicate with garage door from a greater distance such as inside vehicle outside of garage.
A friendly inspection of the garage door unit and wiring will help determine if antenna is damaged or not.
Please keep us posted. Us DIYers need to stick together! Thanks again Marvin.
😎👍
Battery relplaced door still wont open from right outside the closed door. Opens and closes fine if im inside the garage. I dont understand why
Thanks for watching. By chance is there a little wire hanging out of the bottom of your ceiling mounted motor?
This is your antenna. If it’s damaged, crimped, or pushed up all the way inside motor casing, your remotes will have a very difficult time connecting to antenna.

My garage door remote works for 1 day then stops working I’ve had two both have done the same thing ?
Thanks for watching & that’s no fun...🤔
This is common when the systems logic board’s radio frequency is interfered with.

Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Is your unit working as designed with the red light present?
If not, one or both sensors will have to be realigned.
My garage door remotes work intermittently. After working just fine then there appears to be no signal getting through. It is the same with more than one remote. If you wait a few minutes, it will work again. The indoor wall remote works every time.
