I really like how consistent you have been with the content of your videos and how real you both are, it's so refreshing and a pleasure to watch your progress as you build your life on the island, keep on keeping it real 😂👍💯😎
Ooo...I found your channel and now I'm going to binge watch starting with your first season. I hope at some point you tell where you came from and why you chose Alaska.
just found your newest video and it really interested me... so i subscribed and now I have started at the beginning and will watch all of your videos... thank you
Buddy of mine has a cabin on that island, spent a lot of weekends back in middle school camping/fishing/hunting/clamming right where you pull your boat up. beautiful place to have a home.
Nice! I loved your comment....I'm from Oklahoma, I can easily say rope!!! Pretty soon you will say skiff and kicker and you will use that old wood stove to make a bonya! Enjoyed your video. I was a former Douglas Island resident. Graduated out of JD High, although my hometown is really Kodiak. Your videos will make me miss living that close to the water!
Thank you Mary. My wife is JD class of 94. If I may suggest a video for you. ua-cam.com/video/AoWT11tshMo/v-deo.html It should bring back memories of Douglas. We shot some scenes at sandy beach and the old pump house from the treadwell mine. After living here 4 years I find myself saying "down south" or "the lower 48" now whenever referring to the rest of America. lol
My Alaska Dream , sounds like you are adapting well! We do have AK vocabulary of our own! I will check out the video you suggested! I was class of 81, although I won’t lie, my first heart was in Kodiak. I always did the first semester in my home of Kodiak and second semester was in Juneau. My family was there for the session. I look forward to seeing you and your wife’s videos!
Mary , I have lived all over Alaska the past 38 years, Kodiak is real Alaska! Juneau, transplant Seattle folks! No comparison fish wise or lifestyle. Simple!😉
TheBackwoodsLife90 we will do a video on it. We have to wait for a negative tide to get to the anchors in the water. So look for that video this April.
I live in Anchorage and I wanna homestead off grid and have a LARGE garden etc etc. Thinking about Palmer, Homer would be nice. Though me and my girl haven't visited Juneau yet. I think the reason why I haven't started is cause of Juneau.. The National Forest out there's calling my name. I wanna watch your videos from start too end. Thank you and much blessings :)
My Alaska Dream ,I was a naturalist on a whale watching boat out of Auke bay I think I seen your place being built on shelter island? I seen many sights in Alaska the past 38 years in Alaska yet most incredible was seeing a group of humpbacks bubblenet feeding all of a sudden they breached at the “same time”! Together! Only once! That was on the east side of shelter, once in a lifetime!👍
Troy Ottosen we’ve only had a landing craft bring something over once. There is a small yellow landing craft that also lives on shelter. It might have been him.
Beautiful Place! :) So glad I found your channel... off from Small UA-cam Homesteader's Facebook group page. Nice to meet you two. & your 4 legged friends. :) We have to Westies..
Ohh, A real Smoke out. Hey That's a great reason to curbside that contraption. Maybe save it for Mosquito season Fill it with deet and light it up. Or make a Salmon smokehouse. @@AnAlaskaHomestead
Mmmm I don't know about that. He is 11 years old has a loving home and sleeps in bed with us. When I think of "poor dog" they are usually tied to a stake in the backyard and the only human contact they get is when someone brings them food and water. Watch some of the other videos with him and other dogs running around and playing. I'd say he's a pretty lucky dog.
No worries. He is a poor baby. He shivered like that even when we lived in Texas. Our dogs are like our kids. The big dog loves it but the little dog prefers to stay inside. Anyway, thanks for watching and clarifying.
We are moving to Texas but want to live in Alaska. I just don't think I want to handle all those long winters after the rough one we had in North Idaho 2016/2017. Now, a house in Texas and Alaska would be cool! Thanks for sharing
Yuri Taylor my brother lives in Texas too hot for me. I think this winter was bad for everyone. Although spending winters in corpus christi might be nice.
Check out some of our more recent videos to see the progress we have made.

Thank you. Have a great day.

Hey Fleming Abbott, glad you found us. Yes we do go into where we are from and why we moved. Enjoy.

Glad you found us Deb. It seems like forever ago when we first moved out here. We’ve learned a lot since then.
These are great videos man. Very direct and informative, which isn't easy to do off-the-cuff. Thanks for this content.
Thanks AR

Beautiful beachfront property how peaceful
We love it here.
I'm starting from the beginning and follow the journey. I will be doing the same within the next 3 yrs.
That’s awesome. Good luck on your journey and don’t get discouraged. I used to give myself timelines on project. I rarely meet them😂
Just found his channel and started watching. Saw your comment and heres hoping you made it to where you want to be. Happy New Year!
Amazing place!
Thanks, we thank so too.
My friend you are living the life
We feel blessed everyday to be able to do this.
Can you do a in depth vid on your out haul rig?
TheBackwoodsLife90 we will do a video on it. We have to wait for a negative tide to get to the anchors in the water. So look for that video this April.

It’s a nice place the further from Juneau the better.
Been out at Auke bay many times, have been inside the harbor when humpbacks and orcas have come inside!
Isn’t it awesome. We have a friend that lives in one of the condos by the harbor and they have been swing a bear running around every morning.

My Alaska Dream , By the way, I did the whale watching trips in 2015-2016, I think I seen a landing craft boat unloading supplies for you?
Troy Ottosen bubblenet feeding is an amazing sight to see.
No it wasn’t our place, we aren’t on shelter island.
Troy Ottosen we’ve only had a landing craft bring something over once. There is a small yellow landing craft that also lives on shelter. It might have been him.
Wow. What a beautiful spot you have. This is my dream. No cell phone signals, WiFi, bub bye!
Thanks john. We did however get a signal booster for crappy cell service. For emergencies and it’s nice to be able to answer comments.
Awesome! Luca is freezing through the whole video...lol!
New sub for ya! Going to enjoy watching your journey in Alaska!
Thanks CB's Greenhouse and Garden. I'll have to check out your channel when I get good service.
What a gorgeous place!
Thank you, we think so too.
Beautiful scenery!
Ha you found the first video. We’ve come a long way since then. Hopefully the video editing is a little better.

We love our fur babies.
Awesome!
Thanks patriotpioneer!
That Old stove looks interesting. What where the reasons you went to the one you have. your new looks better for one.
Where the glass should have been just had some metal covering it and it didn’t have a good seal so smoke would come out and fill the cabin.

@@dowopdodge832 ha use it during mosquito season. A smoker is not a bad idea.
Where can I purchase the 907 hats you wear. Thank you
cool.
Are you on Admiralty island?
We are right next to Admiralty.
What part of Alaska is your cabin ?
We live in southeast Alaska near Juneau.
@@AnAlaskaHomestead , is that Shelter Island? If I may ask. Thank you. I like your channel.
@@aymondray9794 it is not, although we do know people that live on shelter.

Our poor dog as past away this year. He was 12 years old.
