2023 Hyundai N Festival: i20, i30 N hatch and sedan driven hard!

- Ok so it's a bit slow going up but I'm not exactly the quickest video editor around and finding time is tricky. ANYWAY, here are my adventures at the 2023 Hyundai N Festival at Sydney Motorsport Park where I drove what was then the whole range (IONIQ 5 N since been added) back-to-back and you'll find my thoughts here. If you get a chance to attend one of these do so as they're great fun, friendly days.

I drove the later update version of the i30N sedan, also DCT, ready to buy and was surprised that I found my i20N more fun in the real world. Part of that might be the detuning of the 2L to 15psi reported recently, perhaps Euro emissions? The i30n was quieter and more sophisticated to drive but lacked the hot hatch feel of my current car which was over $20,000 less to buy.
I agree the 2L in the i20N would be great but they have recently cracked the i20N ECU and have full access for tuning which was limited to piggy backs until now. The big ace the 1.6L has up it's sleeve is the never mentioned unique CVVD valve configuration which allows the dwell angle of the intake camshaft to vary. This engine has a lot more power tucked away waiting to be exploited but it's certainly very capable as it is with great economy probably due to that CVVD.
The i20N is an absolutely awesome package and another 15-20kW would certainly bring it to life and I've no doubt the engine could easily support it. Thanks for watching/commenting!
