Love your videos, you're probably the best diesel performance channel right now. You seem to go a lot bigger on the air and conservative on the fuel than most others.
Do you think if you went to 200% over nozzles you could pull back on the timing and pulse width enough to drop the torque?
It is very possible sir timing on this build stayed way under 28 degrees we didn’t go crazy pulse width as well . Cummins like timing l5ps don’t respond as well and In our testing . That primary charger in my opinion was bringing the torque on . Truck does have stock manifolds so I could make up all kinds of assumptions but would only be throwing darts sir ! We didn’t mention this but i did actually swap to 1.0 AR primary because of how rowdy we seen it wanted to get in the beginning. 93 turbine would be slick to see what would take place! 476/93
You could always bend some rods and drop compression. That should help drop torque 🤣

He’s gonna pull with it and daily , the 1,000 hp was never a goal 🤣 he just wanted compounds and I said sir I believe it will hit a 1,000 no problem ! It is the D4 which is rated at 900RWHP .

On a hub type dyno or dynopack, that'll be over 1000hp for sure. And around 1200 on the crank.

I am wanting to know if you turn this truck down To the second last tune 931hp.
Will this run smooth daily even if u are towing, and your were to floor it up a hill,
Or can u only make a pull and let everything cool down, and be watching your egts? And are u risking to break that truck,later down the road if u have a heavy foot? Thanks I've just always been curious if you can make those high hp tunes and not worry about the stock engine.
Hopefully he decides to build that engine to make not have to worry about the high torque number, like watching this truck alot.
With a true 900hp the truck won't live towing like that. Unless you build in protection or live in flat land. Thats a shit load of heat those turbos put in the cooling system.
Hell to the no! Even a built motor cannot sustain that kinda power. This kinda power is really only good for 30 second intervals at max. The oil and cooling systems in these trucks isn't built enough to deal with the heat. Duramax are even more at a disadvantage because they only hold 10 quarts of oil vs 12 with a Cummins. Not sure about the PS, honestly don't care.
It would’ve made 1000 on a dyno jet. How many miles on the truck?

Tyson why are you not making it turn 4k rpm ? If you were worried about torque why not extend the rev range I know you do it on your Cummins and the l5p drive train can make it all day long or maybe you don’t think it can . I think it would have hit the 1000 if you made it turn higher, my piece of shit lly turns 4500 with all stock valve train I’m just curious why you chose to make the power down there with those compounds?
I’ve tried to start high in the pull like 2800/ the truck even loaded aggressively will just push through the run and not show a respectable number . We also start to pull fuel at 3600 for shifts so the trans does go see Jesus it’s only a 750. They want low low rpm pulls to get a true number out of them. It’s only a 87 turbine in the valley . If we went bigger than that rpm’s widow changes. We did swap from a .90 AR primary to a 1.0 to try and kill some torque and it didn’t help . If we just simply took the 35s off it would have hit it but again I do like to say it made what it made so I don’t contradict myself 🤣 I’m happy with beyond and above !

Thank you for the answer I respect the shit out of your work and was genuinely curious of why you didn’t try to keep making power higher up in the rev range. I learn something from your videos all the time and I appreciate it tremendously. That number is respectable as shit especially with your dyno, not to mention drive train loss .
@@jameshaskell6572 the l5p has a soft fuel limiter at 3600 and a fuel cut at 3800 rpm. When driving these l5ps on the street, it is very very easy to hit those limiters, which cause a sort of jolt that can cause catastrophic damage over time.

Listen that truck make 1k hp first his mustang dyno is a heart breaker on purpose every where else that truck is hitting the number and most of all after drive train loss 960 is big power 1050 all day long

Exactly ! Everyone says it ain’t shit ! Well it seem like it’s a pretty big deal to make on our dyno. My sarcasm didn’t maybe come across in the way I presented it. For years I’ve seen all these magical numbers and when we test them we get different numbers. Parts are on it to make it , fuel pressure is good chargers are happy . I’m not gonna push it unless the customer is hell bent on a number and he is satisfied with where we landed. My 17 l5p is already completed deleted with 5 inch , hSP piping & intake, down pipe and egt probe & 5 tunes on steering wheel controls with monitor also . Roughly what would it cost to go rest of the way . I’m in Arkansas and would love to drop it off . Thanks

Twin gt45s on a 8.1 is no joke either and cheap.
Be interesting to see the torque difference between the LS,8.1 compared to the L5P. Ballem both to a 15k trailer and I'm afraid there's gonna be a pair of hurt feelings. Don't get me wrong gas pushrod engines have their place but towing torque isn't their place.🤔🤔✌️✌️
