Transcend is probably my favorite stick and tin brand. I probably wouldn't call it entry level though. Its a step above most other stick and tin brands and it shows in the price too. I prefer (and own) a laminated trailer, but I really like what Grand Design has done with the Transcend line.
We used to think the Transcend lineup was "entry level" until we took a second look last year. We fell in love with the 265BH because of all the amenities and the double over double bunks! Just FYI though. Transcend has a limited edition lineup called the "Twenty Twenty Two limited Edition" which is laminated. Not sure if they're aluminum framed or not.
Another great video! We love our 247BH. Its our second year with it and so far so good. We spent over 60 nights camping in the first year and can’t wait for hundreds more.
We have a transcend 2022 but ours is different we have fiberglass it’s like an imagine they ran out of materials during Covid and made 20 transcends in fiberglass we’ve loved our Rv we took our dinette out and put in a breakfast bar and we made our full size bed in the bunk room a office desk .Our storage area is huge also !
Great final review. Our previous RV was a Forest River Surveyor 19ft and we had a 12V NorCold 10.7 Cuft Fridge, inside a 19ft trailer. We upgraded back in February to a New 2022 Grand Design Imagine XLS 22mle and we waited, hearing they were coming with a compressor Fridge and solar, which we could not do without once having.
Great honest review. It only took one trip on the factory mattress for us to order something that wasn't akin to a torture device. Imo the first money you should spend when buying an RV. I almost felt bad for the gentleman I gave ours too. Lol
Love your content, and really, really dig this floor plan. Just walked through one yesterday and was blown away. The ONLY thing that gives me pause is the low cargo capacity, which I’m assuming is due to the weight of the second slide. Did you ever scale this rig loaded up? Ever feel like you had to be particularly choosy with what you took with you to avoid overloading? I do tow with a 3/4 gasser with a 3200 pound payload rating; guess I can always throw more gear in the bed.
We had a Keystone Springdale that spent at least a few months out of the year in the service center. The straw that broke the camels back was the frame had four cracks and it spent 4 months in the shop. So we decided to get the transcend 265bh. I am a stick and tin fan because I look at what I can fix after the warranty and with the laminated sides if is delaminates I cant fix it. I always expect something will need to be fixed but that would be on even your most expensive trailer. But with the build quality I think we will not have as many issues we had with the Springdale.
Another interesting video. That Brooklyn bedding looks very comfy, though I do love my Thomas Payne mattress. I didn't even know they were making RV mattresses! Cory, I love the GD shirt you are wearing! Great color and design!
We have a 'walk thru' bathroom and do not understand why anyone wouldn't ? Our camping friend has the same floor plan but does not have the walk thru. They lose a fair amount of room with the area now dedicated to the path around it. We gained a large cabinet that they do not have and when we close both doors a much larger area to use. FYI IMHO ... We've had entry model years ago and worked our way up to better quality & amenities. We've noticed a large amount of differences and would not go back.
I’m going to make an unpopular but absolutely true point. The only real difference between the Transcend and the Imagine lines are the exteriors. I know this to be true because I and my sister each bought identical Grand Design trailers in 2019, except that I wanted the aluminum siding, and she wanted the laminated. She got the Imagine 2800BH, and I got the 27BHS. Same trailer with very few differences, and none of the differences go beyond cosmetic on the interior. The outside of the Transcend is heavier because it’s wood framed with aluminum siding, while the Imagine is aluminum frame with laminated siding. This means there’s an 800 pound weight difference in the favor of the Imagine. So while we will all call the Transcend line the entry level, it’s important to understand its the highest level of “Entry level” you’ll find.
While they do share a great deal of features the Imagines have functional upgrades as well. Thicker storage doors, slam latch doors, higher ceilings, Goodyear endurance tires, racetrack ducted AC, Bluetooth connectivity for your controls, ect. It’s more than just cosmetic but yes… the Transcend line is certainly knocking on its door and for much less $$.
@@WanderingWeekends interestingly, many of those features are new features brought to the Imagine line that didn’t exist back in 2-19, so it looks like there has been more of a separation between lines now. In 2019, the slam latch upgrade and thicker baggage doors were on the imagine. But both had the same ceiling height, same racetrack ducted A/C, same China bomb tires, and the controls were identical. I am not surprised to see Grand Design feeling the need to build more separation into these two lines, and looks like they are doing it the right way without sacrificing quality.
Great Review. I had the 2800BH 2021 and loved it, but can see the Transcend line is really a good option as well! Def need to look into the Brooklyn Bedding mattress. Looks awesome!
Yeah, the mattress we got in our Transcend Xplor was definitely stereotypical RV mattress and as a side sleeper it was killing my back and shoulders. Got a nice mattress topper and it's ok now but still think eventually will get a new mattress.
This trailer they are showing off is not what I would call "entry level ". We have a 247bh Transcend with no slides that is our 1st rv purchase that I consider is a more entry level than the one you are showing off with the 2 slide outs.
Cory love your channel wife and I looking at a transcend. Did you test the weigh safe on that rig. Leaning towards that WDH for the Transcend. Thank you Larry
Proud owner of '21 Transcend 240ML and I tend to agree with Louie Teffeteller's earlier comment below regarding the Transcend line being an "entry level" product line. The overall fit and finish, furniture, details, thicker side wall skins and features including the Solar equipped vs. Solar prepped is a great "reflection" on the Grand Design business model which has always seemed to be to build better, more innovative, but Never cheaper products. Josh the RV Nerd at Bish's RV described the Transcend construction as "being different, not worse, not better than aluminum/fiberglass construction." Both "stick & tin" and aluminum construction have advantages by design. "Stick and tin" construction is usually a bit heavier but allows for easier placement & routing of piping and wiring/outlets. They are also much easier to repair in the event of collision. On the downside, my 240ML is about 400# heavier than an Imagine 260RB. I think that as far as "curb appeal" is concerned the Imagine & Reflection lines are just prettier! Cory you nailed it as far as the manual stabilizer jacks are concerned. My 2018 Keystone Springdale 252RL had LCI electric stab jacks as delivered and my Transcend will be exchanging the manual jacks for a pair of electric stab jacks on Jan 25th or 38 days from today- but hey, who's counting?!?! When shopping for the replacement for our Keystone Springdale, of course pricing was a concern. Obviously, I thought the Transcend was worth $3,500. more than a Springdale, but not the $8,000 upcharge to the Imagine. Appreciate all your product evaluations btw. Merry Christmas & Happy Camping!
Have you guys ever had a wilderness Montana RV mattress? We’re looking to replace our stock bed in our imagine and I’m going in between the Brooklyn signature and the wilderness Montana. The side storage boxes On the side of our bed are at 8 1/2 inches (10” box height total). The wilderness is 10” @ $850 and the signature is 11” @$936 b4 tax. I like the idea of the 10 inch rather than the 11 do to the headspace when sleeping. I’m pretty sure we’re gonna be going from no matter what but wanted to get your guys input. Thanks
@@clusk2011 Do you find you have enough storage space? We have 4 kids and have looked at that floorplan and steered away due to apparent lack of storage. We do tend to go on extended trips (3-4 weeks).
@@joemontana4370 it is going to depend on how you pack and if you plan to do laundry while out. There is a ton of storage under the pull out couch and under the dinette if you have it. Theater seating might limit storage with 4 kids. Weare seasonal but never lacked for storage camping in state parks. We did most of our cooking outside so we didn't/ don't have a lot of extra small appliances in the camper. With 4 kids I would say you'd be fine with some creative packing and a laundromat trip in the middle of a trip. We lice the walk through bathroom, tons of storage in there too! We added cabinet doors to the shelves (I don't like the open shelves) but was an easy fix after ordering parts from grand design.
Thanks for sharing. It sounded like you didnt fold down the couch to get the full bottom bunk. Just made a bed behind the couch. Did I hear that correctly?
I really wish they would have kept the same front couch setup that you showed in the first walk through video at the show. It fit the area better and when laid down looked better. Reminded me more of the Imagine 3110BH Bottom bunk couch. The one Grand Design is using now, looks awkward with the filler on the one side and then when the couch is laid down its not flat, its got dips and valleys do to the shape of the couch.
I have been looking forward to this review. Not because of this model but because we have a 245rl and wanted to see what you thought of the Transcend Xplor line. I really like the Imagine line but so far love our Transcend Xplor and not sure the Imagine is worth the extra $10-15,000 dollars.
@@cappyjpadgett I understand what you are saying and not JUST your opinion. Your opinion is based on your experiences, your likes and dislikes and the importance you place on things. We are fine with the open shelf above the bed and next to the shower for towels and linens but would like doors on the shelves under the bathroom counter but not having them is ok too. The big thing was having more furniture options in the floorplan that got rid of the dinette and gave direct viewing of the TV in the slide. Whichever choice someone makes I think your getting quality with GD.
We generally try to eat outside when at the campsite. We also like to explore local restaurants we can’t get at home. Breakfast was in the recliners or on the couch.

Yes would be very interested in this floorplan in the Imagine line. If it only had an outside kitchen then I would seriously consider upgrading my 2800BH. I've come to dislike how "enclosed" the front bedroom on my rig is with small windows and wardrobes right next to my head. I remember back when I bought it that I really wanted a rear bedroom with a slideout, but no-one seemed to make them. Outback used to make a version but was unable to find a good used one at the time, and IIRC they were quite big/heavy.
We have the walk through bath in our 245rl and love it. It makes the bedroom feel large and open. Now our kids are grown and it's just the two of us so no kiddos barging in .
We just bought a 2022 edition fiberglass Transcend 261BH and there is nothing entry level about these trailers, with it being fiberglass I feel like we just bought a cheaper imagine series. Great video!
Good review. I like the comparison to the Imagine and knowing that other than a few cosmetic things, there isn’t much difference. I have seen a few Transcend 261BH’s built with fiberglass siding. I heard it was due to Aluminum siding shortages. GD released them as a Special Edition. I actually was hoping we would get a Special Edition as a substitute but didn’t end up working out that way. We are still happy with our 261BH.
I have a problem keeping jacks on this trailer. We use it for hunting trips and camping outings. I have bent the rear jacks twice now. The axles are flipped but still not enough space for rougher roads.
I haven’t been super impressed with the Jay Flight builds recently. I think your statement was true a few years ago. I’m not sure now. They definitely sell a bunch of them though!
As we do love our 247BH Transcend we bought our 2022 in Aug of 2021 and definitely feel we got a "put together in a rush" unit. We been only able to take 2 trips and its now at the dealer for the 3rd time getting fixed. Our sidewalls were not even secured properly according to the dealer, kinked water lines, crooked tv, broken sky vent, squeaky floor, defected entry door, loose screws and components inside. We were really excited at first to join Grand Design but now are having 2nd thoughts.
Ugh… I hate hearing these stories. There are definitely some lemons out there. They seems to be the vast minority though. We never hear about the no problem rigs. I truly believe these are the best you’re gonna find at the price point.
This also highlights how important it is to do a very thorough PDI check before signing papers. Won’t catch hidden issues but you’ll get an idea of the overall quality of that specific unit.
@@WanderingWeekends We are one of those who have not had an issue yet with our 265BH. We got ours the weekend of July 4 last year and we looked hard to find the "known issues" including the fridge, and cannot find any so far.

I haven’t been super impressed with the Jay Flight builds recently. I think your statement was true a few years ago. I’m not sure now. They definitely sell a bunch of them though!
I bet you guys are getting a new rig ! ?
We will see

👍👍👍
Was looking for an unbiased comparison. Hard to believe this is one of those with a guy wearing a Grand Design shirt AND they are getting their RV FROM GD to promote them. Guess I will look elsewhere.
What is a spray port, I never heard that term before.?
Quick connect port.
Quick connect for?
It's used with a little coiled blue hose with a sprayer on the end and the spray Port is a quick connect where you plug in the hose.
I understand that but a hose for what, propane, water??
@@debranagel5184 water (propane would not be "sprayed")
We rent one out on outdoorsy and everyone loves it. 2021 bh265
