The heavy rubber wheel chocks are about $5 at harbor freight. Also you can drive over them because I have. They won’t break and you’ll definitely know you did it.
The first and only surge protector that we bought was the Power Watchdog. Keeps on ticking, and one of the few out there that isn’t a one and done. The company will send you a new part to change out if it blows. We love it!! And I also like checking the app from time to time to see how much power we’re using. Great Video, Jared.
Not sure what you are talking about when you mentioned the RVLeveler Pro. Mine still works like a charm and there was an update in Feb. 2023. I do agree that the Watchdog is awesome and customer service is great. The modual blew due to a spike and not only did they send me my my free first replacement, they sent a second one because it happened on my first use.
8:21 one word on the watch dog. I bought one because of Jared’s review and am actually quite pleased specially with the Bluetooth functionality. However, they state that the surge protection will go out at some point and they sell a replacement for it which I bought so I’m ready when that happens. The only downside is that the watchdog on the front of the unit is extremely bright in a darker campground so I’ve had to put a skirt on the unit to lessen that and not be bothersome to fellow campers
Power Watchdog makes a mask for the face of it. They sent me one, no charge. I see they sell them as well. I still hang a hat on it occasionally to darken it further.
You can replace the water pressure regulator with a new gauge from you local hardware store for under $10 and the US made bushes seem to last a lot longer.
My T@B 400 came with a Craptastic fan, the latch on it broke the first season, which wasn't that big a deal. But I ended up replacing it with a MaxxAir, definitely a major improvement.
I got tired of sewer hose's and them leaking and just where to store them when traveling and switched to the Sewer Solution and love it, seems complicated the first time but then its easy after that and you don't have a big sewer hose to step over and you don't have to elevate it to help move the waste. I still keep the old stinky slinky for when you have to go to a dump station with a line but if no line I would still use the Sewer Solution.
no suggestions, but man o man have we gone thru the gadgets. we eventually find useful gadgets that perform over the long term but getting there is a challenge. thanks for the info.
Where did you get the stand alone water pressure gauge? You are correct, the gauges on the adjustable water regulators don't seam to hold up very well.
I replaced the gauge on my pressure regulator with an industrial temperature rated unit. So far the Camco sewer support works, have plans for the rhino hoses when mine fail. Using a 50’ Technor Apex potable water hose. Already use the rubber chocks on the non leveled side. Propane regulator hoses cracked and were leaking replaced with braided stainless. Camco power grip power regulator has saved us from voltage spikes. Our Summit TV was junk, along with Furrion Stereo, and exterior speakers.

Drain hose support. I have heard that some campground required a drain hose support. A large amount of users that I see, allow the hose to drop below the support at the beginning or end of the support causing a "P" trap. I have been camping since 1969 and seen many changes in camping. Some good...some bad. What is wrong with not using a support and allowing the hose to form a "P" trap ? The advantage is no back feed of gases from the from the campground. My dump valves are usually closed except for when we are doing many showers over the day.
I ran a blue Zero-G all summer. The water tasted terrible. I figured it was just the source water. Switched to a Camco heated hose in the winter and now the water tastes fine. Not sure I'm going back to the Zero G.
I love our Power Watchdog built-in power control/monitor which I installed a little over a year ago. I am an electrician, so have seen this actually catch flaws and faults in the supply electricity and shut things down instantly. It also records usage. I park at relatives' who have large spreads. I pay them for the electricity we use, so we don't feel like we need to scrimp on usage. Also, we really like our LevelMate Pro, which has been serving us over a year as well. Good info video. Agree about the cheap yellow chalks & propane level indicators. I built my own chalks out of some pressure treated 2x8 I had left over. My fool proof, NEVER has failed me in 45+ years propane indicator is when my spouse yells at me to go out and turn the switch to the other tank as her stovetop went out. We always immediately fill one tank as we switch over to the next full one. I also have a small 1gal for my bbq that I can use in an emergency. All good info thanks, the propane tank indicators I think are hit and miss. Most RV's have two tanks. When you switch over tanks just fill the empty. If your going to boondock and it's cold top them both off. I cheat and carry a 5 gal reserve just in case I get lazy.
I’ve forgotten many of the failures. The most recent (and annoying) was the soft-sided ADCO propane tank cover we got after the lid of the hard-sided cover blew away. It lasted exactly 1/2 a trip. The wind swirling around the tank shredded it. ADCO “generously” offered to replace it with another one, but ghosted me after I refused that offer.
Even with the newer version of the propane tank level sensors I have had them fail in cold weather. However, to be clear when I say cold I mean below zero, not merely below freezing, so not weather most people are even using their RVs in. The issue is fundamentally that the batteries just can’t supply enough power at those temperatures. In researching this I’ve found there are some boutique manufacturers of coin cell batteries optimized for both colder temperatures and intermittent higher-current pulses exactly like this use case, so I’m planning to order some of those and see if fancier batteries make a noticeable difference in sensor performance next winter. Alternatively, I had the thought that slipping one of those chemical hand warmers in under the propane tank would do the trick for as long as those stay warm, which is several hours but not all night.
We started using X chaulks a while back when our plastic chaulks blew away in the tail end of hurricane Dorian. The wind was so strong that without the chaulks, the electric foot slipped off the 6” block it was on as the trailer moved sideways. Luckily no damage occurred. Love the zero G hoses. We have two 25’s for fresh water.
I have the light plastic chocks I put between the Axels and put a few rocks between them to keep them in place. They stayed put even through all that 60mph + winds Quartzite AZ got last month. That wind was so bad I had to look for my tire covers that also had rocks holding them down on the edges but didn't hold.
The old Mopeka tombstone sensors were awful! The company, stellar! The tried their best with several generations of those sensors with me. After a hiatus, I gave them a shot again when they standardized around the Pro sensors. The Pro sensors have been flawless!
I have been in contact with the company and they tell me that they are working on getting the app back up and running. Unfortunately they have been telling me that for about 4 months. If you have an Android phone the app is available.
Had issues with the app forgetting the installation location and orientation and I decided to remove and reinstall the app, not knowing the app wasn’t available. Threw it in the garbage and got the Level Mate Pro to install this spring. You get what you pay for. Lesson learned.
Jared, good video. Over the years, I've had many of the same failures as well as others. I was surprised by the Progressive Industries EMS though. I know they stand behind their product, so I'm wondering if you discussed this with them. Perhaps they can add some improvements. I'd also like to know more about the conditions that set up for the fail. I have mine wired in ahead of the Multiplus, which means that it would also be down stream in the event of bad power getting through. Thanks again. I always look forward to your videos.
I too have a Multiplus-II downstream of my hard wired PI 50A EMS. This is most surprising considering PI is thought to be the benchmark of EMS's. At least that is what I was told. Any further reasoning/diagnostics on the failure?
Your surge protector can't detect reverse polarity if you have an open ground. I'd like to see companies that make surge protectors make a product that warns you if the plug prongs are getting hot. Most people have to throw away the protector because the prongs melt out.
Several downsides to plug-in protectors... the line loss AFTER the unit that it will not detect, and I don't have to worry about theft or rain. I put in a Watchdog protector, hardwired, and right in front of the distribution panel. I love the Bluetooth connectivity for monitoring and alerts as well.
Had the Progressive Industry plug in EMS. After a summer we found it had leaked and water collected inside. Tho it never actually shorted out. Have switched to the Hughes Watchdog and much happier with it.
Jared, changing the subject a little...what do you think about Long Jim Loop dispersed camping? We're headed there in June from Ky. Any advice would be welcome!! Thank you!!
The problem with the propane sensors in cold weather is probably the batteries. Lithium Batteries don't like the cold. My outside garage door pad at the house gives me fits if it's super cold during the winter. And it's powered with the same batteries.
Thanks for the heads up on these! I’m very interested in what Progressive Industries says about this defect; if you feel like including that in a follow up.
Great video, thanks for all the info. What kind of gate valve do you have at the end of the RV dump tube? It’s at 4:32. We are looking to replace our twist on with a glue on because when I untwist the hose the gate valve wants to come with it.
Some times you spend a few extra bucks and it's worth it. We have used rhino from day 1. I like the 4 pin connection versus the 3 pin connection in the cheap stuff. Our power watchdog is awesome! Has saved us on low power when our park had some wiring issues and on surges too! Had it for almost 2 years.
Hey, I think your pressure regulator gauges are interchangeable...you could take you "guage only" with the hose threads, and swap it in for the broken on on your regulator...just a thought...
I thought about that but it is probably lasting longer because it is in the bay most the time and not exposed outside. I have thought about replacing the gauge but decided not to.
Hey Jared, love your channel. I would welcome a video on propane regulators. I replaced the main one and seems to be working but my secondary regulator for my second tank seems to be malfunctioning sometimes it kind of works other times not so much, I don't think it is metered correctly, I have to move the secondary tank to the primary tank position to get it to work, just a real pain. Your thoughts? Thanks 😊 Lee
The pressure guage on the water regulator can be easily replaced, just make sure you get a guage with the right size pipe fitting. We do actually change our water pressure from time to time. I will turn the pressure up to 40 to 45 psi when we have full hookups just to have good water pressure while taking a shower, than when we have to rely on holding tank capacity, I will turn pressure down to around 30 psi.
At the beginning of this video I noticed your smoker in the background. I have the same one and have been looking for a table to set it on. What table are you using and does it work well? How much weight is it rated for?
Tried two Zero-G hoses and both leaked at the fitting where it's crimped onto the hose right out of the box. Too bad because I really liked the size and weight. Complete fail.
I added a small 5 gallon pressure tank to my system and did away with all pressure regulators. Quiets the 12V pump and if someone forgets to shut off the pump it stores enough water that it never comes on in the night when we are boondocking. I absolutely love all of your videos and the way you deliver the information so simply. Thank you.
Your pressure tank will not protect your water system when hooked to a hydrant, you still need a regulator to protect your plumbing when running off of a hydrant.
Curious to know what type of tank system you installed 🤔 And is it in the city connection system or in the on board pump system 🤔 It's sounds a little confusing from the way you explained it. A 5gal. tank seems pretty big even on a large 5th wheel.
@@jamesglenn520 I purchased a 12v pump with a tank attatched. It keeps the pump from surging which was messing with the on demand water heater, and also lets someone flush the toilet at night without the pump running.
@@jamesglenn520 Mine does not, correct, pretty sure that Scott who is saying he added a 5 gallon pressure tank and did away with his regulator would still suffer damage when hooked to a high pressure system too.
I am very curious about your progressive industries ems. They are suppose to be the best of the best. Which is why I have trusted them. I would love to get an update about how it let power through if you ever figure it out. Does not have to be a vid. Put a response on here would be nice. Love all the straight forward no nonsense vids and info in your vids. Keep up the good vids.
We run a Power Watchdog (30amp) and we had an issue with low voltage at an campground a few months ago. The watchdog shut down and saved our camper, then happened again at another campground. When I was restoring power the watchdog face was blinking white and wouldn’t let power go though it. Do you have any idea what that means? We contacted power watchdog and they sent us another one, just curious if you ever heard of this?
The gauged water pressure regulator is not usable in freezing temperatures. They must be bright inside and kept out of the cold, easily forgotten when winterizing your RV. The gauged will be damaged and read a different value with nothing attached and cannot be repaired.
I have found the Zero G hose to be absolute garbage, as are any and all of the faux firehose style collapsible hoses. They pair really awesome hose ends and fittings with an inner rubber lining that is about as durable as something you would use to make balloon animals. Otherwise, the other gear mentioned is pretty good.
My question is in reference to the water pressure regulator. You said basically that you set it and forget it. Does the input pressure affect the output. IE: say you set output at 60 when input was 90psi. Next time you connect, the input is 65psi. Does that affect the output psi?
Yes we have had a couple that had a bad gauge but realized it’s just the gauge not working and the regulator is working just fine. If you still have those regulators they probably still work.
@@jamesglenn520 my experience with specs from engineers is that they cover their butts by underrating by half or more. If they rate it at 50,then it's probably capable of at least 100. YMMV.
Great review. It provides some good info to save guys like me money, that has to be well spent. Saying that, I would love to hear the outcome of the PD surge protector. It has been on my list to get (bigger cost item for me), but now I am having second thoughts. I like the idea of an on board one with read out, rather than a portable one. As always, a big fan of your videos and look forward to more. All the best!
Yes I will try to duplicate it but going to wait till I pull it off the RV. Power Watchdog has a hardwired one I linked in the description. I’m going to switch to that one. I like having them hardwired out of the way as well.
The hardwired version excels in theft prevention, but the portable unit allows you to check the power before you pull into the site, and you don't need to pull the power cord out to check the power.
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing. The white hoses are so annoying with their leaks, and yet I keep buying new ones, thinking I'll have a different outcome. No more. I'll take your recommendation and move on.
Can you post another video of the sewer modification please. A lot of has asked and you’ve never responded. We hope you never received the request so please when you read this one. Do any other video on the topic. Thanks for a great idea.
Harbor freight has great sales fairly often on the rubber wheel chocks. Also, I believe the propane level indicators are poor quality and very very over priced. For those reasons, I will not purchase them.
Haha. Funny thing is my lame brain can’t think to talk on camera if I don’t do a quick clean up. Funny thing is I even do the dishes even though they wouldn’t be seen.
The heavy rubber wheel chocks are about $5 at harbor freight. Also you can drive over them because I have. They won’t break and you’ll definitely know you did it.

Yup, hazard fraught. Even cheaper when you get a 20% off coupon! Best chocks I've owned.

That’s a bummer. We have had 3 with no issues for over two years. I wonder if they had a bad batch.
Have 2 in the RV and 3 at home. 0 issues for 4 years
I was interested in Zero G but I believe I saw a video, where it showed mold growing inside.
Curious to know what type of tank system you installed 🤔
And is it in the city connection system or in the on board pump system 🤔
It's sounds a little confusing from the way you explained it.
A 5gal. tank seems pretty big even on a large 5th wheel.
@@jamesglenn520 I purchased a 12v pump with a tank attatched. It keeps the pump from surging which was messing with the on demand water heater, and also lets someone flush the toilet at night without the pump running.
So it has nothing to do with regulating the incoming pressure coming into the trailer while hooked up to an outside water source.
@@jamesglenn520 Mine does not, correct, pretty sure that Scott who is saying he added a 5 gallon pressure tank and did away with his regulator would still suffer damage when hooked to a high pressure system too.
You talked about zero g hose, any particular one and 1/2. Or 5/8
We like the 5/8, the link is for the 5/8 hose. Less restrictive on the flow.
Fantastic!
Thanks
The gauged water pressure regulator is not usable in freezing temperatures. They must be bright inside and kept out of the cold, easily forgotten when winterizing your RV. The gauged will be damaged and read a different value with nothing attached and cannot be repaired.
Yes when it’s cold it goes in our heated wet bay connected directly to the city inlet. I could swap out the gauge but it doesn’t effect the regulator.
Good info!
Thanks.
Is the RV Leveler updated to the RV Leveler pro?
Great video
Thanks!
Which TPMS do you use?
My question is in reference to the water pressure regulator. You said basically that you set it and forget it. Does the input pressure affect the output. IE: say you set output at 60 when input was 90psi. Next time you connect, the input is 65psi. Does that affect the output psi?
We haven’t notice a difference. I test it occasionally at different locations and pressures and it stays consistent where we set it.
I've had 3 adjustable WPR's all gauges failed in a short amount of time. I went with a Valterra preset and now I just attach and walk away.
Yes we have had a couple that had a bad gauge but realized it’s just the gauge not working and the regulator is working just fine. If you still have those regulators they probably still work.
I think the preset is set at 40-45 psi. I like mine to be about 65psi. It makes a big difference in the shower.
@@RamblinRoadies Might want to check the Specs for your rv. Most have a Spec of 50-55psi Max to keep from creating leaks or destroying the fixtures 😬
@@jamesglenn520 my experience with specs from engineers is that they cover their butts by underrating by half or more. If they rate it at 50,then it's probably capable of at least 100. YMMV.
@@RamblinRoadies My truck tires say 80psi and believe me I would never try to put 160psi in them 🤣
Great review.
Great video on what gears can fail. Are you changing from a hardwired EMS to a portable one? If so, is there any particular reason to do that?
The hardwired version excels in theft prevention, but the portable unit allows you to check the power before you pull into the site, and you don't need to pull the power cord out to check the power.
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing. The white hoses are so annoying with their leaks, and yet I keep buying new ones, thinking I'll have a different outcome. No more. I'll take your recommendation and move on.
Jared any issues with your bottle jacks?
Bottle jacks?
Can you post another video of the sewer modification please. A lot of has asked and you’ve never responded. We hope you never received the request so please when you read this one. Do any other video on the topic. Thanks for a great idea.
This might be the one you are looking for. ua-cam.com/video/tstF9odI0RE/v-deo.html
@@AllAboutRVs yes. But a part two lol. I mean I know you win in debt, but a little bit more would be great please
My zero G leaked from day one
I love the cheap and more expensive yellow wheel chocks, simply because I CAN run them over with no issues! Do I need to type lol?
Harbor freight has great sales fairly often on the rubber wheel chocks. Also, I believe the propane level indicators are poor quality and very very over priced. For those reasons, I will not purchase them.
We use pvc rain gutter and store on bumper Bought 2 8’ lengths and cut one to shorter lengths
Not a bad idea. What do you do to prop up the pipe?
@@AllAboutRVs leveling blocks. We have plenty of them as we don’t use them for leveling as we use the Anderson levelers.
I was just wondering before your videos do you have a maid come in and spruce up the place.😉 it is obvious your wife does a fantastic job.
Some of us guys clean too.
Haha. Funny thing is my lame brain can’t think to talk on camera if I don’t do a quick clean up. Funny thing is I even do the dishes even though they wouldn’t be seen.
I have the Rv leveler pro. It has worked in the past. Are you saying that this product is now worthless?
You can still use it if you still have the app but if you delete the app I couldn’t find it for apple. It might still be available on android
@@AllAboutRVs I got a new iphone and app was not available on new phone. I emailed the company and havent heard back at this point.
No NoU want the Hard rubber chalks
👍🏽
I just bought a Camco EZ Level that uses your Smartphone only to find out they don't support Android phones. Totally unacceptable level of support.
