I read in The Strad magazine how important ones core is to develop for playing violin. After 3 times of watching, the insecurity of clinching the violin on chin rest was defeated as you tied in the role of the core muscles. Its the proper stacking of all the elements via good posture that collectively support the violin. Truly a team effort of the human body. Never clicked until i worked through it per your video as the tying together of all the loose ends. I got tired during practice but then i focused on incorporating proper breathing and extended my practice session. Even with a mute i sound better and get robust sound pulling and removing unnecessary arm weight. Digesting all your great videos takes time. Taking an inventory of the elements as one practices is so rewarding per recommendation and i feel i can anticipate growing in my playing.

Thanks for the video! The different shoulder rest height topic is interesting! Waiting for that. Thanks

This was really helpful to understand the motion and feeling of the posture. Recently i had a back pain due bad posture, and started looking for help in yt.

The core tip is really good. I find that when I slouch, it really affects my dexterity and intonation

I'm constantly checking in on my own setup. It really is one of the most important parts of playing the viola too. The only issue is that I haven't been able to find many shoulder rests that fit my instrument, so I've been experimenting with the angle and placement of my chin/jaw rest.

I've found that many violists do weird things with their set up and do a lot of DIY. Depending on the size of the viola, I've seen people only use a red circle sponge and that's usually enough. Depends on each player though

bro breathing deeply, which expand your chest is amazing to loose the feeling that you need to use either shoulder or neck to fill the gap

Wow, it seems so impressive to me that you have a somewhat long neck, and you use a somewhat small shoulder rest, I use a bonmusica but I don't know if I should try another one, what do you recommend?

I use a Kun bravo with a taller leg, it works well

I have very small finger tips. I have trouble stopping 2 strings with one finger and getting it in tune. I already have the string spacing set slightly closer together. Any tips?

If it's a perfect fifth you're trying to play, adjust the angle of the finger, and try to use a flatter finger pad. It works for me.
