    I just started in September with violin. (I’m 43) and last Monday i used for the 1st time my pinkie on the D string. But i couldn’t get my pinkie there 🤣. I felt suddenly old and stiff 🤣. I tried to pull my elbow in.. but still no good result. But my teacher tomd me to not force my pinkie. It takes time and its the hardest finger. Needs lots of practice. So i hope that i will get my pinkie there someday

    Sibelius is a threat to my mental (and physical) health. Small details, which should be routine, were not to be found - unless you wanted to spend a day searching the net. The instruments sounded worse than Finale. Musescore is more reliable if using good VST, but had other problems. Dorico is by far the best.

    Well that was confusing. So it's NEITHER a higher chin rest nor higher shoulder rest??? That makes no sense at all. So you're telling us that it is the way we lay our head on the chin rest that is the solution??? With a long neck, ANY way you lay your head on the chin rest is going to require a kinked neck. I was hoping for more comments to get some ideas but only 16 people have commented.

    • @erictheviolinist
      @erictheviolinist 5 днів тому

      It’s a matter of comfortably putting your violin on your shoulder rather than relying on equipment to solve the solution. This is not always the case so be sure to talk to your teacher

      @@erictheviolinist I had a misconception of how to hold the violin from seeing a video where the violinist was holding the violin without using his left hand. I also thought that the violin had to be in a fixed position and steady. I just saw another video from Murphy Music Academy where he showed video clips of famous violinists not even using the chin rest and moving the violin all around. That's when what you were saying in this video started to make sense to me. Thanks for the response.

    Il cannone strings regular and soloist have been my go to for quite some time. Tzigane and Virtuoso are also very interesting on older instruments that might handle lower tension strings better. I find that Larsen strings tend to be a good choice budget wise too. Quality for professionals and students. I rarely have had QA issues with that company. I just wish they would make il cannone for viola !

    Thank you for this review! I was actually looking into buying these strings for when I purchase an instrument in April. I am looking for a certain sound in strings and these are just the perfect fit for the sound I’m looking for. Im actually in a string ensemble and youth orchestra and I’m glad you think these strings are good for things like that. Thanks for the review!

    The inauthenticity is painstakingly obviously starting from 0:18, where your started to cut up the subject by breaking every chord. You originally decided to play the subject using legato, but now it is detached. The deviation is far too obvious. Had I not studied the fugue myself, the return of the subject would have been incomprehensible to my ears. At 0:45, the subject is repeated in the bass line! You continued to play the chords from bottom to top, thus detaching the subject - yet it was your decision to make the subject legato! Isn’t it necessary, then, to play the chords from top to bottom, in order to sustain the subject? Please decide on your music and not resort to authority when you fail to convince the listener!

    Just lived an entire week of open seams from my colleague's instrument. Every single time she played a G. Oh my, oh my, I heard some buzzing... lots of it, all week. I told her to get her instrument fixed because not only is it better when the instrument is completely closed but also because I could hear myself sometimes in pianos or pianissimos... just the buzzzzzz.

    Doric, like Greek Doric, or Dorian Mode. "Doric" is pronounced as /ˈdɔːrɪk/ in English, which sounds like "DOH-rik".
