There's very few songs that on first listen I think "that's a banger" when it comes to gorillaz. The only ones where off the first listen I thought it was great was feel good inc and Clint Eastwood. But dare the first two times I heard it I was like "meh" bit then I'd run across it and listen and I'd start feeling it
That logic applies to every new Gorillaz song i discover
reggae and dub is a deep and important part of Gorillaz' sound.

This is the first one that didn't quite do it for me, Desole and Momentary Bliss were fantastic, Aries was solid, this wasn't my thing.
That's fine though, every Gorillaz album has had at least one or two songs that weren't for me. I think it's a result of them being so experimental.

I completely agree. Desole and Aries are great. This one didn't feel like a Gorillaz track. It's good, don't get me wrong, but it's definitely the weakest track on Song Machine thus far.

Gorillaz is something like a genre in itself. It’s starting to feel like we’re here to listen to what different artists sound like if they channel their inner Gorillaz.
Honestly for me all the songs from these 4 have been growers for me. The first listen never really caught me but I think for me this track specifically has been the one where I struggled to enjoy it at first but now I'm hooked

Definitely a grower. Wasn't completely into it immediately because of the guest vocals, but I can already tell it's gonna be one of those Gorillaz tracks I listen back to a dozen times and fall for it.
I must admit when I first heard it, I wasn't convinced BUT having played it a few times it is a great track and does the series justice.
You are totally right. It also took me some time, but it's getting more and more enjoyable after a listen. But I also think that the feature guest could have been used for the better, the Friday 13th teaser from Aries's preview (with 2D's "da da, da da, da da, da duu, da, da) sounded way more overwhelming to me.
I saw your track review so I first went to watch the music video for the 1st time and then I went back to your video. While I was watching the video I recognized they I forgot how the song went. So I didn't like episode 4 that much but as you said it is a grower. Maybe in a few days, I will start to like it.

Great songs and great potential from this guy, his albums are not as consistent as his solo tracks but still they have a overall theme and a vibe. ⚔️

I love octavians style. Hands, party here, little, 100 degrees really show off his aesthetic really well. These songs made me a fan of him and I'm honestly not a fan of all his music but If I never had those first few releases from octavian, I wouldn't be so excited to hear new music from this guy to this day. I find his style can range from essential listening to obnoxious and skippable.
I heard the colab with gorillaz and I was psyched based off the name value alone. I agree this one is a grower. I know his music can grow on you slowly sometimes but this one hasn't grown on me yet. I'm only giving it another listen based on the names involved.

Its strange that so many people had a similar view on this track- ok the first time, a jam after multiple listens. Gorillaz are the only group I can think of that have had this effect on me, personally. One of the many reasons they're still my favorite band!
