- DID I JUST BUY A LEMON⁉️ My Brand New 2024 Aprilia RS660 Goes Into Limp Mode... (Part 2)
Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel! In the last video, I shared my frustrating experience with my brand new 2024 Aprilia RS660 going into limp mode. Well, the saga continues, and I'm here to give you an update on what happened next.
As you may remember, I was devastated when my brand new bike suddenly went into limp mode, just a few weeks after I had purchased it. I was worried that I might have just bought a lemon, and that my dream bike was turning into a nightmare.
I immediately took the bike to the dealership, determined to get to the bottom of the issue. After a thorough inspection, the technicians discovered that there was a problem with the engine control unit (ECU). Apparently, there was a software glitch that was causing the bike to go into limp mode.
The good news is that the dealership was able to resolve the problem by updating the ECU software. They assured me that this was a known issue and that they had a fix for it. I was relieved to hear that, and I couldn't wait to get back on the road and enjoy my bike.
So, in the end, it turns out that I didn't buy a lemon after all. The issue with my Aprilia RS660 was a software problem that the dealership was able to fix. I'm grateful that they were able to diagnose and resolve the problem quickly, and I'm excited to continue my riding adventures on this amazing bike.

Aprilia is not beating the reliability accusations yet it seems...
I’ve never had any of my bikes do that. That was a first. Just straight cut out like I ran out of fuel. 😬
Interested to know what happened since im on the fence of buying an Rs660......Overheated maybe?
@@10RRTenI wouldn’t the factory bought mine back with only 350 miles. It kept breaking down….
@@10RRTen It was running too lean. The Brentune fixed it 💯💯💯
@@mep593 so sorry to hear that.
This video was suggested to me by youtube. I guess by now the algorithm knows that I've been having problems with my new Tuono V4 as well. Please let us know what happens to your bike. So far my dealer has been helpful. What does not help are the Aprilia loyalists who turn a blind eye and do not acknowledge that there are some bikes released from the manufacturing process with something fundamentally wrong or defective with them. The "its a racebike" argument is not logical. It is a road bike, not a race bike. I guess the QA part is really not something they prioritize. The bike works great when it works. Then it such a big disappointment when it doesn't..
I’m always 100% transparent with all the bikes I own. Good or bad I document it all and share with my channel enthusiasts. I hope they figure it out. So far it has not happened again.
Was on the fence between a Tuono 660 Factory or Kawa z900 SE.
Due to lack of dealerships around where I live I decided for Z900. I was also anxious about Aprilia reliability and many reviews including this video proves I was correct to be concerned.
Sorry to hear about your issues, and thank you for sharing!
I’m always 100% transparent about any issues I have with all the bikes I own. This one really caught me off guard. Thankfully it hasn’t happened again.
If you put that exhaust on without a tune or flash, you should get it tuned and flash see if that helps
Yes we are Brentuning it Tuesday this week.
@@CK_RIDES Yeah, I've been researching this bike for a long time. and I aint never seen them do that before
My rsv4, would turn off randomly too and the display would go off like it was a hard restart in a computer. It’s happened multiple times. They replaced the ecu and many other things and never figured it out. Aprilia bought my bike back because it broke down multiple times and was in service for over a month. 350 miles…. 4 tows.
Did it in all kinds of scenarios. At traffic lights, on the freeway, before making a turn. Start the documentation process. And prep to contact Aprilia USA. Took them a month and a half to pay off my remaining balance.
I’m hoping my RSV4 will be ok. The 660 is definitely under the microscope.
Mines been great, hopefully it's something simple. I noticed in pt1 you ended at putting fuel in it, maybe something there.
I did fill up at an old country station. The 93 gas may have been old.
@@CK_RIDES Curious what they did with the reflash. Maybe it increased the tolerance on misfires then. Did you happen to see any fault codes?
@@calvin2516 No fault codes. Was just running super lean due to the Euro5 restrictions. The Brentune removed all of the restrictions and the fuel map that they created for me helps the bike run Rich. It fixed the problem immediately. I have not had an issue since.
Saw a video of long term ownership rs660 and this was a common issue ( dealer will be able to fix)nbd
Yes. Mine is fixed.
@@CK_RIDESwhat was the issue?
What happened? Let me know when you find out. 😢
They think it was the ECU.
My Aprilia was a pos and the factory bought it back.
I’m glad they did the right thing.
If it was such a well known itch why didn't they update the software before handing it out to you?
Who knows⁉️ I’m asking myself the same question. Maybe the update came the week after I took delivery.
Nobody reads descriptions anymore lol 🤷
🤓
Context is important, once you start messing with the bike you can no longer blame the manufacturer. I know people with 20k miles on their rsv4, another with 10k on their rs660, and met someone with another rsv4 with 18k. No issues from non of them. Also people have pride with their non Japanese cars or bikes. The negativity is louder in all of those bikes. BMW had issues with their S1k many times, or its perceived that way because those people are louder.
I agree with you. The only thing that we have done is put a full exhaust on the bike. The bike is being flashed as I type this. Stay tuned for an update.
Wtf!
It’s all fixed now.
@@CK_RIDES Bt tune fixed it?
@@10RRTen YES‼️💯💯💯
Those bikes are trash . Stick with the s1k . Love my 24 m package s1k
One persons trash is another persons treasure. I hear guys who ride BMW’s also wear thong underwear…is that true⁉️🤡
@@CK_RIDES I dono my bike don’t go into limp mode so I wouldn’t know but than again I don’t ride 600 girly bikes 🤣
