Two missing ones I thought of: the Deflector, which is a unique minigun that only giant MvM robots can use, and the vintage Ban Hammer, which is a joke item rumored to exist in Gabe Newell's personal inventory.
Something else to note about the Deflector is that someone actually got it in their inventory with item schema manipulation
i'm pretty sure the ban hammer isn't actually in gaben's inventory and was just a joke by backpacktf

You probably see so many of them for a few reasons
1) those who are fortunate (or rich) enough to own a Golden Pan will almost always use it in every single one of their loadouts, and will use it for melee kills at every opportunity.
2) if someone using a golden pan dies, it is dropped on the ground, where it will almost certainly be picked up by another player immediately.
3) most community servers have commands that let you give yourself any item you want, which is why you see so many new players using them on these servers.

Most community servers have add-ons that let you equip any weapon, including australiums.
I actually remember when i got the cheater's lament and had the bright idea to then delete that and my gibus as a joke and went to valve support to actually ask for those items back (among other items to test the waters).
The item I did get back was a cheater's lament in vintage quality which was pretty neat!
Kinda similar story. I "accidentally" (wink wink) deleted my little bear (unlocked by purchasing an MVM robot heavy figure) and my team leader, asked steam support for my items back, and i got a burning team leader. So worth it.

You missed the "series-less Mann. Co. Crates".
These crates do not have a series number like all other Mann. Co. Crates do. And there is only about 4 of them in existence from what I last remember. It is unknown what would happen or what items you would receive if you opened one. Some people theory that if one of the 4 owners opened one of these crates that they would receive... Nothing. As in the description of the crate, there isn't any weapons or cosmetics listed.
While others theory that they would receive some completely glitched/bugged item. Which would be maybe something like a broken weapon/cosmetic with impossible properties/qualities.
But the chance of any of the 4 owners ever coming back to TF2 and opening one is very low. So nobody really knows what would happen if any of these 4 very rare crates were un-boxed.
Edit: Apparently there are actually only 2 of these crates confirmed to be in existence. This makes the chances of any of the 2 owners ever coming back to TF2 and opening one of them beyond rare.
The seriesless crates are in collector's backpacks. They are very much active, they just don't want to open the crates for obvious reasons (it definitely would not give a glitched item).
23:16 Minor Correction: the cosmetic is actually known as Randolph the Blood-Nosed Caribou. (I say minor since reindeer and caribou are the same thing)
They are almost the same thing but caribou are north american species and reindeers are the european species

actually the flame thrower with submerged enemy kills isn't that weird, it does in fact work and count the kills
Wasn't there a time when the flamethrower could do damage to underwater players too?
19:17 actually, if "underwater" doesn't require the dying target to be more than 100% submerged this should still apply (albeit extremely rarely) as the flame particles can hit slightly into the water from the surface and hit people that aren't too deep.
it might also work if reflect kills count for the flamethrower
@@Nikolai0169 I have no idea. The game seems to get really confused with reflected projectiles - killstreakers for example use the count from whoever initially shot the projectile, and not who reflected it, if they even have a killstreak.
Obscure TF2 items have always been a strange case to me
You actually have it backwards when it comes to the Finder's Fee: Valve *used* to reward the finders of big bugs with their choice of unusual, but now they just give out the Finder's Fee.

It's funny though, you're absolutely right, anyone who actively plays Dota 2 is completely unaware of the existence of other games, as evidenced by SteamSpy's analysis of the Overwatch launch, showing that ***all*** games experienced a drop in player counts around that time, except Dota 2.
I remember playing a 2fort match with someone who had a vintage community sparkle lugermorph, even got to use it for a bit and took a screenshot, it surprised me enough that I searched their backpack and I recall saying that it was equal in value to an actual Luger

Weapon Reskins in TF2 have always seemed like a strange case to me. On one hand if you like how a weapon works but hate how it looks it's nice to have another option to choose from. But on the other hand, reskins usually look like they would function differently from their counterpart. And I've always thought it would be neat if cool looking weapons like the maul had more of an identity than "Its the Homewrecker but for rich people" So I took a large number of weapon reskins currently available in the game and gave them their own set of stats ranging from "Slightly modified sidegrade to the original" to "Completely new weapon idea that's not balanced at all but a ton of fun."
I swear I saw the Dota 2 Stormspirit's Jolly Hat one time back in the day. Didn't fully realise how rare it actually was.
Ive gone through 100s of comments and not a single person is talking about 26:20 so i wanted a go at decoding it.

My guesses:
1. Ship emergency present, see information box, emergency (end of the line *or* express), air approved, false present.
2. Ship medic present, see information box, medic end of the line cosmetic, check-mark gift.
If rearranged, could mean something to do with a shipment crate

One of my favorite impossible stranges is headshot kills on Sydney Sleepers. The part used to work, as a crit head shot would count as a headshot kill, but that was later fixed.

20:45 tbh, not too long ago there was a sale of a Darkblaze Antlers for 3 gpans, that is, approximately 9600 keys (at the time). Maybe you meant the community sparkle vintage lugermorph is currently the most expensive (legitimate) sell order out there, but it isn't exactly *the* most expensive item of tf2.

Potentially, the listing and prices for the Lugermorph and most other rare one off items haven't been updated or even traded in years with the Lugermorph being 3600(? Whatever it was can't recall) 6 years ago rather than today

The upgrade to premium is added to players account when they buy something from the mann co. for the first time
I found this out buy looking at the list of items included with a new account's purchase (hovering the mouse over it shows as a map stamp)
Mine also showed the mann co cap twice for some reason?

One I think that was missed was that I believe a pyro in the free to play trailer had an unused hat equipped.
Edit: There’s also a soldier holding a rocket launcher left handed lol.
I checked it out and it seemed to be the Kritzkast promo hat, pretty blurry so couldn't tell
One single soldier in the whole world that uses setting for left-handed weapons
One thing that is worth mentioning regarding the Top Notch is that according to a podcast with various TF2 developers (as well as other guests, like Notch himself) the hat had a hidden stat which made Notch take extra damage when he was wearing it (it was like 20-25% more damage, im not sure)
Community/Self-Made weapons also had a 10% damage increase but both stats were removed a week after being introduced

Seeing this iceberg actually makes me feel sad. I had another steam account years ago with genuine and vintage items and I lost it. Only last year did I find it again and deleted my steam account cause I made a new one. Just realised I had those items in there and no way to get them back :(
One thing you missed that would've been cool are the items that weren't supposed to be obtainable in unusual quality but were for a brief period of time. Such as the Coffin Kit, HazMat Headcase and the rarest of them all being the End of the Line cosmetics, including The Hunter Heavy, Sleeveless in Siberia and Coldfront Curbstompers.

I have played the game since 2008 and I got some rare items such as a bunch of spelled items (including paints,exorcism,voices from below) from back in the day, the Black rose knife, Cheater's lament, Soldier of fortune medal and I even have a vintage sergeant's drill hat thats painted but its missing the painted text. I even played on the same server as Notch back in the day.

You missed "hacked" Unique items with extra-long names & description tags.
For a while you could use Cheat Engine to bypass the normal character limit on tag items. 125 char for names, 253 char for descriptions.

I was too new to TF2 when the cheater's lament was added to have even known what idling was,it was such bullshit that I didn't get one. Nice to see the black rose acknowledged though,it was a pain but I did get one of those.

I met a man with a black rose, fairly certain is was specialized killstreak, and he didnt even know how rare it was.
Decorated weapons were added in the Gun Mettle update. Warpaints were added much later in the Jungle Inferno update.

I still own a set of Voodoo-Cursed items and a Pile of Curses from old Halloween updates. It's a shame they are not tradable though.
Also you didn't mention craftable items that were not meant to be craftable. Like 2011 Summer Set (Summer Hat, Lucky No. 42, Flip-Flops). They were available for purchase for a limited time, which already makes them quite rare, but since all Mann Co purchases are uncraftables, only bugged ones became craftable.
I like the Nabbler because I can have either 5 eyeballs simultaneously using other cosmetics with it or I can hide my cheap ass unusual metal slug inside of it

Mentioning the Cheater's Lament still makes me mad because I genuinely wanted to get one by not abusing the guarunteed unusal unbox thing a couple of years back. I will never not be upset about how the people who consciously picked not to open the crates got NOTHING for it while those who did got to sell 1 unusual and keep all of their others.

But rewarding the people who specifically opted to not use the glitch with literally nothing, while awarding the people who did with unusuals, one of which they could sell to other people, is still something I disagree with. I would have liked a cheater's lament, but if Valve would prefer not to release another wave of them, that's fine. Not giving the people who didn't use the glitch anything at all seems like a mistake that incentivizes abusing these things when they happen. Or maybe I'm just butt-hurt.
Also, good video. There were some things I actually didn't know about in the later tiers when I thought I would know almost all of the obscure trading stuff.
I threw away some dumb shit when I was 13 lol. I wasn’t exactly ballin out but I had a couple promo items and some cool vintage stuff back then. One of the only relics of that era that I still have is my black rose, it’s untradeable, but I threw a professional kill streak kit on it for real cheap just for fun a couple months ago
You forgot some weapon skins have a possibility to have rare patterns and crests like the Warhawk Flamethrower which has a 5% chance to have a pink balloonicorn
And also Leopard Printed, where it has a small chance (I have no idea how much) to be white and grey.

You're wrong about the Unusual hats and Finder's Fees; They used to give unique unusual hats, but switched to giving Finder's Fee due to drama with someone requesting an Unusual Wiki Cap.

Did you miss post life spells? Spells that were added to weapons that didn’t exist before spells were removed? Such as the pumpkin bombs sudden flurry stickybomb launcher? That one also has a glitched loaner tag as well. Idk if it would be considered big but I’m surprised you didn’t cover post lifes

You should've mentioned more details for some of em, e.x. You should've mentioned that you can't get Saxxy anymore since Valve stopped giving them away or having Saxxy awards event. Also the strange camera melee is slightly less rare then Saxxy but still rare and is awarded for lesser achievements in Saxxy awards(I don't remember if it was participation price or like 2nd 3rd place award but it doesn't matter since you can't get more of em, also should've mentioned they used to be unique quality and not strange one so you couldn't even level up your Saxxy at one point)

Another rare item fact that is missing is the spine chilling skull, there is 4 version with each varies in price rarity, some of them also can be strange or uncraftable or both, you can craft them using the haunted metal instead of the horseman axe, one version is permanently remove from the game but can still be seen from old player inventory or the giant demoknight on wave 666 mvm and there is a self made one of a kind unusual spine chilling skull for a make a wish kid that beat cancer
I bought map stamps within 2 hours of the Australian Christmas update, and my World Traveler's Hat is craftable. Apparently 160 of them exist.

Strange uniques were strange items with yellow text that were unboxable for about 1 hour after an update dont remember which, but about 5 of the strange uniques unboxed were wrap assassins
Also apparently the Top Notch has a increase of 20% damage taken...
