Please help me out, I have diabetes but I have never heard about refrigerated rice before, do you cook it first and then put in the fridge or freezer, or do you refrigerated when not cooked? I am confused

Cook white rice with quinoa, seeds (sunflower, hemp or sesame seeds) peas, beans, vegetables...the idea is to add fiber & nutrient dense foods to the rice or as a side dish (hence slowing the effects it has on blood sugar) I even add tumeric to my rice (for yellow color & flavour, along with garlic, thyme & better than bullion) left overs can be used as fried rice ect.
Absolutely, you got that down to a science. I usually eat brown or black rice, more fiber, vitamins and minerals and does not spike my insulin, blessings

After cooking white rice add water and let it ferminate overnight...ferminated white rice has low glycemic index hence good for diebetic patients I believe.
This is good information I'm Type 2 diabetes and I always make about three cups of rice and I leave it in the refrigerator for a while and I'm happy to hear the results😵

I do not believe in putting cooked rice or potatoes in refrigerator overnight to increase non resistant starch..or to lower blood glucose. I get tired after eating them. Period. White stuff raise insulin no matter what.
The verified numbers would be more informative. What kind of rice? Is there a specific method to cook it? After it's cooled to room temperature, is that enough or does it have to be refrigerated? Does it make a difference to the % that's resistant? A ton of unanswered questions need to answered.
Rinse the rice thoroughly & boiled with extra water & salt once boiled, 3/4 done drain extra water then on very low heat leave it for 10 minutes until done completely. You will get rice with very less starch & rice won't be sticky. Cook like this all the time and sometimes add whole spices to make it more flavorful

I do like cold rice as well as warm rice. Sometimes I like to put spices in my rice like paprika , cayenne , , tumeric and other spices like garlic and onion powder in my rice ( in my brown rice too!). My daughter makes Rice balls and put in the fridge and we then have them for breakfast with our eggs. So yummy!!🤓🌻😋🤗😋

I can buy partially cooked rice which doesn't seem to have starch. It rakes the same time to cook as regular basmati but doesn't get sticky. Leave to cool and refrigerate if not using on the day. Can be reheated but it is fab if added to large salad with dressings etc next day. Also is half the price of regular rice.
Yes, I heard this before. Just cook, white rice, potatoes pasta day before & leave in refrigerator for about 12 hrs or next day’s meal. All the starch in these products will have gone in to ur cooking water where starches will come out. These starches turn in to sugar to add towards insulin resistance pre curser to diabetes if you let ur health go.
Good tip Doc. Problem is that refrigerated rice becomes hard even after reheating.🤷🏽♀️ My in-law swears that freezing rice keeps it nice & soft after defrosting, but I haven't tried that yet.

I wonder if those rice pouches count for this. They are already cooked and u put in for 90 sec in the microwave.. so I assume I was cooked after being cooked and then sealed in that pouch. Or since we cook it again it doesn't matter? Just curious.
Bread is very bad for you too, sugar , pasta , soda , but I think I really have to stop eating rice , pasta because every time I eat pasta and rice my body is very painful until next day - I stop eating rice pasta , sugar and bread for one week and I feel better and I lost 6 pounds. We are what we eat. Just change my diet and my body doing much better.💯
You might be allergic to gluten if you eat breads or wheat,barley, or rye pasta. Dr. Answered in the comments that it can be reheated after being in the fridge. It's cooked rice, then keep in the fridge. Something I've done for almost my entire life. I'm Asian and a big white rice eater. 😀
He has derived this from a study done in an American university. The researcher cooked the rice in coconut oil and then refrigerated it for 12 hours and then it was eaten . Obviously the starches were coated with fat and get released slower than normal. It is for the same reason in India many people eat rice with Ghee which is also a good fat .
So that's why my mom always let the rice sit in water overnight but I don't think she knew why. she just did it because her mom (my grandma) did it and so on.
Eat your starches last….eating the starchy part of the meal after the protein and vegetables…it has significantly smaller effect on blood glucose and insulin. One of the best book on insulin resistance is “ Why We Get Sick” by Benjamin Bikman. You can reheat the rice and eat it by the end of the meal, double bonus 🙏🏻…..cook with gee or coconut oil for even more benefits.

buy a cheap foldable steamer put it in a casserole filled with 2 cups of water , this where you put your bowl filled with rice and steam it.

Rice IS starch...washing it gets rid of the nutrients in the starch...not the starch itself. Do NOT wash your rice.
And use the rice water to make lactic acid bacteria and cheese curds. It’s so so so good for your micro biome

Cook your rice with lots of water. Stir, and drained put it back and add some water until cooked. Refrigerate and you have super low sugar rice.

I learned that when you Rinse your rice it Washes most of the starch off.

But only the starch on the outside. Doesn't touch the starch on the inside of the grains of rice.
You wash off the starch powder on the grains. But the refined grain is pure starch, which your body convert to glucose.
Rinsing rice isn't just to clean it it is for removing the arsenic rice has naturally. Rinse with the hand stirring it empty and repeat at least 3x.

Add water (sprinkle water all over it) to your rice when reheating and it will be soft. 😊
You can steam the rice instead of adding water to reheat it.
I freeze mine in zip lock bags. When I want to eat, I take it from freezer, put a few drops of water in bag and heat in microwave. Perfect!
