The proper way to make rice is measure the rice and clean it with water until it comes out clean. Then, add the rice and water twice the volume of rice and cook it until all the water dries off. This is called 'The absorption method'. This how we south Asians make rice.
butter or ghee (fat in general) makes the rice taste really good but it will not last long at all. so i recommend only doing it for small batches or a batch that lasts just for the day. :)
This helped soooo much. I didn’t know how to make rice and it’s was always not cooked enough/crunchy. But I just kept adding water when it was dry trying to cook it.
The general ratio is really 2cups water with 1cup rice -for sushi rice reduce water to 1.5cup -old rice have less starch, so probably need more water -if you cook with fat (like chicken rice, biryani, nasi lemak or mandy rice), substitute some of the water with broth, milk or coconut milk. You might want to reduce the liquid ratio as fat makes rice softer. -if you cook 4cups or above, reduce the final liquid by quarter to half cup -soaking rice for 30mins will make it more fluffy -instead of adding water when it was dry, try steaming it instead. You won't end up with soggy rice. Happy cooking.
Some cultures have different styles of rice & that’s okay. Not everyone wants or has access to a rice cooker. I don’t know why it’s such a hot button topic.
@@sheltertwo7957 idk it's so simple to make rice. Why would I buy one. Rinse or not, 1 cup rice 2 cups water. Some salt maybe a cube of stock. Medium high and when it boils reduce to low amd bye bye. Even if you forget it for 20 minutes it's gonna be perfect because the heat is too low
🥣🐙Some people run into trouble with the 1 to 1 ratio of water to rice. If you make more than the one cup of dry rice, like 2 cups of rice, you need to take out 1/4 cup of water, because only that much water will absorb and evaporate. If you keep it as 2 whole cups of water to 2 cups of rice, it will be soggy as that 1/4 cup of water will not evaporate in the steam. Remember this and it will help!
You must be talking about a different type of rice. The ratio goes with the amount of cups of rice. If that’s a 1:1 then you need to be following that to a T per cup
I found that taking notes of measurements of foods really helps with my anxiety. Sometimes I have guests over and try to make something special but eyeballing immeasurably puts my food at risk but really keeping notes especially for serving really reduces time and stress
This is just simply absolutely spot on - whether you measure or not, depending on your confidence, the principles outlined will ensure perfection every time. Wash yr rice and cover w cold water, season well, bring fast to boil, immediately turn down to nearly nothing, keep covered/don't screw around with it. 12 mins later, fire totally off, fluff it up, leave to steam (clean cloth between lid and pan absorbs steam and drips). Bang on, every time!
I wouldn’t recommend putting oil/butter/ghee if storing it for long. It really won’t last long at all. Maybe a couple days before the rice smells weird. But highly recommended if eaten the same day! 😊

Whenever I see these videos I get so fucking anxious about the rice cause my ancestors will probably beat the hell out of me if I follow this kind of thing.
To make rice easy: Wash the rice just 3 times. Its enough. Not until the water's clear. Take a pot and put the rice into it and fill the pot with full of water until its full. Place it on the stove and put the heat on high, once the water starts boiling, put the heat on low. And within about 20-22 minutes, take a rice grain and pinch it. If its soft, it means its cooked. If its hard, it needs to be cooked some more. After its cooked, drain the excess water! Thats all :)
Long-grain rice should cook for no less than 18 minutes. Coat your rice and either butter or margarine or even olive oil then put all of your seasonings on your butter coded rice then ster it I go for onion powder garlic powder curry powder steak or chicken and black pepper and that's two cups of water per one cup of rice or instead of using water use chicken, beef or turkey broth the best results is too add a stick and a half of butter that will give you the buttery ist taste
In Brazil we add the butter/oil first cook it with oil and seasonings for 2-3 min over medium heat and them add the water and cook it to get a good consistency.
@@TubaTones if you were to wash the rice you would do it before all the steps I wrote, but apparently with modern strains rice varieties it doesn't make much of a difference? I know there are 2 opinions on this matter but the opinion that its halal to eat is more correct, because the companions of the prophet (pbuh) used to eat cheese from the Christians, jews and magians. Magians slaughter are seen as dead meat, thus not halal to consume, but still the Muslims consumed cheese from the magians which included animal rennet.
@@sallagitsin1745 In Shaa Allāh please share your source that the Sahabas ate from magians? SubhanAllahi Wa Bi Hamdihi SubhanAllāhil Adheem
Why is he so gorgeous ... Omg i simp
Get a life
"I gotchu" really got me 😂😂
3 things i wanna tell you.
- Get a rice cooker
- Dont salt the frickin rice
- DONT put butter in there
I came here for this. A tablespoon per cup?! What the actual fuck? That's a ludicrous amount of salt!
@@TheHilltopHermit he said teaspoon, clean your ears lad
@@Lilpepe786 clean your ears
A bit of grease is actually good because it prevents the rice from sticking together. Helps when you wanna fluff it up. But salt was dumb.
@@kbee225 I mean if you like your rice to not be able to be picked up by chopsticks then put butter in there and it actually changes taste, not the type of taste i like
Thanks for this...really needed it..kudos
it's adorable when you said besmellah. 😅😅
Ang sarap
U don’t understand how much I needed this lol
my family doesnt even use a rice cooker they already know how to do it😂
Whenever I see these videos I get so fucking anxious about the rice cause my ancestors will probably beat the hell out of me if I follow this kind of thing.
To make rice easy:
Wash the rice just 3 times. Thats all :)
awwww "so don't get all Gordon Ramsey on me" lol the adorable face
Long-grain rice should cook for no less than 18 minutes. Coat your rice and either butter or margarine or even olive oil then put all of your seasonings on your butter coded rice then ster it I go for onion powder garlic powder curry powder steak or chicken and black pepper and that's two cups of water per one cup of rice or instead of using water use chicken, beef or turkey broth the best results is too add a stick and a half of butter that will give you the buttery ist taste
The perfect rice is all about the water level.
The loops are sick brother!
Very helpful thank you
Uncle roger gonna be like Haiyaaaa, why you didn't you use rice cooker
Beautiful man
This short came on as i was making diner reminded me to put on my rice thanks
In Brazil we add the butter/oil first cook it with oil and seasonings for 2-3 min over medium heat and them add the water and cook it to get a good consistency.
Are you washing the rice first? Or just straight in?
@@TubaTones if you were to wash the rice you would do it before all the steps I wrote, but apparently with modern strains rice varieties it doesn't make much of a difference? I used to always wash it but after hearing about that tried without washing and it was about the same in consistency and exactly the same in flavor.
Thanks bruh needed this
Finger method works for me. Plus being half Asain I was taught that style ata very young age. And I just use the Cuckoo Rice Cooker 🍚 😋 it works the best.
I 💕 this guy's cooking and tips! And so darn cute 🥰 I would move in with him and take care of him for ever lol!

Rice Cooker: "Am i a joke to you?"
Instant pot is the only way I make rice now. Life changer.

Someone finally answered my question and it worked. Thanks.
"no more mr rice guy"
Do it middle Eastern way and shallow fry the rice before adding the water. You will get fluffy and beautiful grains.
